brummiebabe, don't be gutted! -1lb is still a loss. Someone posted on here ages ago about how no-one wants to lose "only one pound", and consequently that little pound stays and slowly gathers up some little friends! You're going in the right direction :T
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Hi All,
Thank you for your kind thoughts..
This has gone on for 3 years and you will never guess... They have now deemed my father-in-law has mental capacity (though you would never know it) and that he is to go home as he doesn't want to be where he is. They don't have to keep him as he is not homeless as the rent is in joint names.. and there is nothing we can do.. Just to say how bad it is ... 2 years ago, when my mother-in-law broke her thigh, she carried on for a week before she told anyone and during that time, she cooked and cleaned and looked after him until she could bear the pain no longer... so it isn't as if she hasn't tried.. She's like a frail little sparrow and he is frail and sitting in his own little world ...
My husband and mother-in-law is going to try and persuade him to stay where he is but as he doesn't know who they are, there won't be much luck there.....
Thanks again....
I'm back on the forum now....0 -
Well, all week I have been offered endless cups of tea and biscuits and cake  and they are all my downfall !!!
I cannot resist them if they are in the house and not on top of the wardrobe.... Anyway, what I did was ask if I could take it home to eat later, which I did, and then threw them into the garden for the birds and my chickens..... Just like a previous post mentioning chocolate being thrown into the garden..... but that is easier to retrieve :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Like Ellie99 and Licklonglips and a few others, I am eating what I want except junk and only giving myself a reasonable portion.. and the weight is fairly coming down... Although as I have a long way to go, I am no longer fixated on my weight.... I only shift the scales once instead of 10 times...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Actually, I can't do that as I am weighing myself on the Wii Biggest Loser so I only get one shot at it..:(
Sparrer, I am so glad that you enjoyed your burger with cheese and chips...A little of what you fancy does you good !!! It's nice to have some 'girlie' time...
DundeeDoll, Have a great time in Edinburgh.... If you want to know where the best pie shop is, just ask as I found them by accident on the internet and they have the best pies in Scotland..and they are only 5 minutes off the Royal Mile and as cheap as chips... I don't eat pies but I managed to munch one walking down to the Palace and got another and ate it going back up to the Castle and then got another to eat on the way to Princes Street... I can't do that now, but my mouth is watering just thinking about them...:j:j:j PS Especially their raspberry pie.... not to mention their steak pie.... not to mention their curry pie........ not to mention ..........ahhhh
Theatregirl.... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you !!
Well done to everyone else but I can't type anymore as I have to get out into the garden and do some work.....
Although I only lost 1 lb last week, when I stepped on the scales today, I was informed that I had lost 5 lbs...... It looks like I lose a little one week and a lot another....which levels out to be roughly 2-3 lbs per week.... and that's me gone down to another stone level today....
I'll be back soon :beer:0 -
Really really upset this morning - am + 1lb after a week and a half of this whole new regime malarky I've been trying out.
I have cut back on chocolate and treats, been counting calories, mealplanning, trying to get more fruit & veg into my system, cereal and eggs in the morning (I HATE eggs in the morning so that has been a trial!)
I dont know where to go next, I have literally tried everything and am so close to throwing in the towel, seems I'm destined to plateau here forever.....might go off and have a bit of a cry actually0 -

Aww TG, sorry to hear you're feeling so down. When I felt really down a few weeks ago, someone lovely on this site told be to take heart because although I'd stayed the same, I hadn't put on and I was to keep my chin up. I think it was a lovely someone who works in a theatre.............so can I return the favour!! Just keep going! Even if you are not showing a loss on the scales, a more healthy way of eating will be better in the long run whatever else happens
I have STS too this week but I know it's because I haven't stuck to what I should so, onward for another week! :T0 -
Hi all,
Well done to everyone to sticking with it this week, losses or no losses :j
Happy to report another 3lb off taking me to 149lb.
I have a family wedding on the may bank holiday with the same people who told me 2 years ago that my kids were skinny because i ate all thier food (i was 185lb then) so looking forward to seeing their reactions
Hope everyone has a good day and great weekend0 -
Everything you say is more or less what I'm already doing (apart from when I have a blip
)...cut down portion sizes, no extras, soup with no bread...yet my average loss is 1 lb a week.
I would LOVE to lose 3 lb a week, but just don't know how to achieve that and still eat.
I looked at your blog, and I know if I ate what you ate the last few days I would not lose weight. But looking at your name on the blog, I'm guessing you're a guy? I suppose that's what makes the difference, because men need more calories each day?
You're proof that consistently eating healthy food in the right amounts works. I'll keep plodding on with my slow weight loss, and try not to be frustrated that it's not faster!
Well done for raising the money for charity :j
yeah, i am a guy!! i'm still slightly over the 20 stone mark, despite the 3 stone loss. i also have type 2 diabetes. it'll be my first appointment with the diabetic nurse (for fasting blood test) since starting the diet. if past experience is anything to go by, she'll still have nothing positive to say and will tell me i still have another 7 stone to go.... that's the nhs for you, though...
B - 2 small wholemeal rolls with slices of Polish turkey sausage
L - soup of chicken breast, swede, red lentils, sweet potato and bulghur wheat.
D - tomato bulgur with greens peppers and chicken breast0 -

Aww Sezza, thank you :kisses3:
Not long after writing the last post, DM actually found me having a bit of sob and gave me a hug and then got her tape measure out! I was terrified! lol I thought she was going to strangle me with it :rotfl:
So she helped me measure myself and I've lost 1/2 a inch off my waist area. She then reminded me I've been busy living it up a bit this week (ate out three times, in two cases with friends I havent seen for a while) and I have had some alcohol which is empty calories.
Since I'm back to work tonight even she said that will be surprised if I dont lose something from running around there!!0 -
theatregirl, I'm sure once you're back at work you'll start losing again. I know you've been doing a lot of decorating...I can tell you from experience it doesn't use as many calories as we think! I put on a fair bit of this weight while decorating most of a house, thought I would be using up lots of energy but it turns out I wasn't. Keep going, it'll be worth it in the end.
Forgot to say this morning...STS this week, which is no more than I deserve after last weekend!
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Had a 'give it all up' day, so not impressed with myself and worse, wasn't impressed with the food
B - F&F, ss milk
L - Hm beef & veg soup, slice ciabatta with rf philly
D - Spare ribs and noodles. Been craving Chinese for a year or more and gave in tonight. Not only was it mediocre, it cost over £8. Admittedly there's enough for tomorrow but I think it might end up in the dog!
S - Melon, grapes, satsuma
E - 2x10 mins, and made a point of having to go upstairs about 14 times to take laundry up, bring bins down etc. Ended up puffin' like Billy but it's supposed to be good cardio exercise
Only got 2 1/2 weeks before my holiday so a new start and new attitude tomorrow0
