Good Afternoon, All,
Well done to everyone... let's keep up the good work and strengthen our resolve..
You'll never guess what I made last night !!!! :j No, I'm not telling you yet...
As you know, I am not on some new diet but just trying to eat sensibly and cutting out all the rubbish... Well, I also find that it is easier to follow a new eating regime if you like what you eat...:) What I mean by that is, for example, If I was to live on salads, my new regime would be over by 6.00pm at night as I don't particularly like lettuce... so I try and make sure that the food I eat, I thoroughly enjoy !!!:j I also make sure that I sit down to eat; and put the food on a fancy plate... I have also found that if I avoid sweet things, I stop craving for it very quickly so I am not missing jelly beans and the like.... :T
Anyway, that's my musings over and I hope that I will be able to follow my own advice during the month of February, which I hope will be the start of me losing another stone in weight... :A so, what was I doing last night that was so different ?????
I was cooking a chicken on a string. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have a coal fire in my living room and it annoys me that I don't make more use of the heat it throws out so I looked up the internet... and saw this being done.... You flavour the chicken with whatever you want .... I rubbed olive oil and seasonings over the body and then trussed up the chicken and then dangled it in front of the fire with a large, foil turkey tray underneath to catch any mess... The heat from the fire causes the chicken to rotate and after about an hour and a half, it is ready... and all you do during that time, is sit there watching this chicken go round and baste it now an again and wet the string occasionally to stop it going on fire... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Well, it was absolutely delicious...:j :j :j :j It was so succulent you wouldn't believe... so I have kept the breasts for tonight's tea and I popped the meaty carcass in a pot with some veggies so that's the soup done as well... :j:j:j We ate the legs last night
So now you know what I mean by making sure that what you eat is special.. :T:T
PS I know that not everyone has a coal fire... but the above story is just to show that you can keep your resolve if you enjoy what you eat and look forward to it.... :beer:0 -
Thank you very much The Dragon for the list.
B - F&F, sk milk
L - jacket with chilli and cheese and a 'side salad' - ie a chopped up lettuce leaf and a 1/4 of very dried up tomato. As restaurants are obliged to serve portions of a minimum size and/or weight they should have to do the same with side salads
T - broccoli and Stilton soup, 2 crackerbread. 1/2 banana in a WW pitta bread
S - 2 mini apples, satsuma, grapes, melon
Little exercise as lungs aren't allowing but have done a fair bit of walking while out shopping today.0 -

oh my! that sounds amazing!!! very jealous
anyway, i have finally been paid and have bought a set of scales.
Lets just say im absolutely disgusted that i have let myself get to the weight i am! no excuses about being tall, big boned etc. I am a lazy sod who eats too much and that needs to change .
even worse, i have been doing well all of last week that all my clothes felt a wee bitty looser. so who knows what i actually weighed last week!!
so overall i need to lose 56lbs (please note i am aware there are people who need to lose more than this but my giving myself into trouble was just for me.)
looked out my sports gear for tomorrow, off to join the gym! got davina's fitness app downloaded for days when i cant make the gym and a couch to 5k app as well. except im going to do it on a cross trainer as treadmill makes me feel a bit queasy as though ive got sea sickness!!
i will stick to this! and as an added incentive, got a wee mini break in spain coming up wi girls from work! :T if that doesnt prompt me to get the weight off, well nothing will!!0 -

I have hit a wall. Any useful comments would be appreciated. I don't usually do breakfast - never have really. between 10 and 11 I usually have fruit or something. I have been trying to eat porridge in the morning as soon as I get to work (about 815) to stop being hungry. But by 10am I want to eat my own arm. So then I start on other stuff, I have tried fruit (used to eat a couple of pieces at 10/11 and swapped this for porridge and earlier) and then feel more hungry by 1230. Repeat for the afternoon. Then I want chocolate and sweeties and cake in the evening. And my stomach makes the most SPECTACULAR noises when I get hungry, embarrassing in the meetings I have to attend.
Reason I swapped was the sugar content of fruit according to MFP was meaning I was going over by the time I got to the afternoon. Plus porridge is supposed to be filling, slow release, blah blah blah. I just wonder if I am used to eating fruit and so the high sugar content of this is just fine for me whereas the carb content of the porridge is adjusting everything and I am simply not able to munch this.
I think I might be better going back to what I was eating and not having cravings for sugar even though this is "too much sugar" when I eat on average 8 portions of fruit and veg a day. I like my bright colours so quite high in sugar.
The other effect is I DONT WANT to get out the house to the gym - so I am not doing enough, actually as I feel hungry I don't want to expend more energy.Start info Dec11
