 Could I join you please? I had a bit of a wake up call this week, went to the GP for the first time in ages and she was concerned that my blood pressure was high, she sent me off with instructions to go back to see the nurse for a couple of checks and then go back, but having checked on our home monitor (OH has high BP so checks regularly), she's right, it is consistently high. I'm having to accept that I'm getting older (early 40's), in a stressful job, getting virtually no exercise, eating badly, drinking too much and carrying too much weight
I did slimming world previously but as OH cooks most of our evening meals I need something a bit more straightforward that he can cope with so I'm just going to calorie count to keep a handle on what I'm eating. OH has been fab and is really on board with it which should help.
Soooooo if it's OK to join, could you put me down for an initial 7lb (3.2 kg) for the next 12 weeks. My overall target is 24lb (11 kg) with no real deadline, I'm aiming for a loss of around 3/4 of a lb per week.
I'm not sure yet how I'm going to weigh myself, I've got a bit of an aversion to scales so we don't have any and whenever I've bought any before they haven't seemed very accurate - may go to the GP's once a week to weigh but that's only in kg so not sure if it will pick up smaller losses? Can anyone recommend decent scales?
I've been reading the thread for the last few days and I'm really impressed by the support here, I'm looking forward to joining you allPiglet

Evening all,
B - Nothing.
L - Chicken leg and salad.
T - Granary roll with brussels pate.
S - Apple, orange and a handful of grapes.
E - A half hour walk.
After being really hungry yesterday I don't feel so bad today. My back has been improving over the last week or so and I am gradually going to increase my excersise with a longer dog walk and a fairly easy workout video and see how it goes.If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

I saw this thread yesterday and thought I'd use it and see if it could help me lose weight. One of my resolutions is to lose weight, about 3 stones before the end of 2012.
I've been weighing myself since the start of the year and started at 13st 6lbs, the first week I managed to lose 1lbs but this week I have put 2lbs back on so I am +1lbs for the year to date.
My aim is to lose 10lbs from my starting weight before Easter so that's 11lbs I hope to lose by then.
I work at an airport which doesnt help matters as you are restricted on what food and drink you can bring through airside. To make things harder they have just opened an Indian Take Away!
I've brought my own food in from home, hope I can keep doing this.
B - Porridge
S - Belvita Honey&Nut Biscuits
L - 2x Ham & Cheese Wraps 4x Wholemeal Rolls with Ham & Cheese
S - Mullerlight Yogurt
T - Sunday Dinner at mums
Bought a Coke to drink and will go for a walk on my break.0 -

Hope this helps, it doesn't mean much to me cause I've never been one to count cals.
Thank you :T. All of my pots have been from ethnic type shops that don't seem to have nutritional info. Can't believe it is so low in cals (not that I count either) as it is so yummy. Great to add to tomato based curry to give it some flavour. And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
My Wii informs me that I have lost 1lb in the last week - really pleased as I haven't felt deprived or particularly hungry. Not had a lot of time for exercise (the Wii is very reproachful) so will try to do better this week.0

You’re welcome Gardenia, I haven’t tried it yet but am quite curious to see how it tastes.
It’s been a while since I have tried to lose weight and although I am trying to make sure I have a good balance of protein etc in my diet (been reading a bit) I’m trying (money-wise) not to rely too much on meat. Because of my age I am also trying to make sure I get the RDA of calcium I don’t eat much dairy but am munching my way through spinach and oranges reputed to be good sources too, just hope I don’t end up like Popeye :rotfl:. I was searching through the BBC GoodFood site for recipes to use up the big bag of spinach and found one for Tamarind Chickpeas – labelled “Super healthy” and only 334kcals per serving. So I figured, based on 1200 – 1500 calories per day, this for supper with a couple of chapatti’s or pitta bread would be reasonable.
It’s also National Farmhouse Breakfast Week, so I’ve been looking for ways to liven up my breakfasts and give myself a ‘good start’ - although I will give the “full English” a miss else I will be on fruit for the rest of the day. Does anyone actually eat their largest meal first thing?
Today it’s mostly leftovers
B – Porridge with stewed rhubarb (frozen last summer so better use it up)
L – L/O Mung Bean & spinach soup. Pear
D – L/O Corned Beef Hotpot, peas & sweetcorn.
Hope everyone has a good day.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £0 -
Afternoon everyone
Got a shiny new set of digital scales from Lidl this week. Thanks to whoever posted that they were getting them in:T
However, weighed in at 13 stone 12 lbs - back where I started
Will weigh on the old ones to check for consistency, but looks like last week's doubtful loss was a mirage. Never mind, at least I haven't gained, and the Christmas cheese is finally finished:)
Today I've had one cup of coffee and two slices of walnut and date bread (thin, toasted) with some butter.
Well done on all the losses everyone. For those of us who STS or gained - we can do this together :j0 -
Afternoon all
Still bunged up with a cold , sore lips and a cough etc, but feel it's getting better. Can still taste food so not bad for that
I bought the purple scales from L*dl and they are lovely and slim unlike meThey weigh percentages so I find them way more accurate than my old ones.
Breakfast: F&F + ss milk
Lunch: Seeded bread egg mayo and beetroot sandwiches
Dinner: Beef !!!!!ash on bed of noodles
Snack: F&F Belvita x2 , Apple
Drink: water
Hope everyone is staying with it even though you have sts or put on a pound or so....keep going and get back on track, then in a few months time you will be very proud of yourselves. This CAN be achieved !
Have a lovel day
