Thanks x Will have to watch the snacking, that's all. I have planned:-
B: Fruit and Fibre
S: banana
L: Same as today although ciabatta will be substituted with tortilla wrap
S: grapes
T: hm chilli with rice
I think I need to try and ensure that I have a snack mid afternoon so that I'm not going home feeling ravenous.
I forgot to mention before as well that someone at work waved a plate of biscuits under my nose today and I declined. Mind you I think this is what drove me to seek out chocolate (the Freddos) when I went out at lunch time.
Yeah the afternoon snack is a good idea, afternoons are my nemessis! Its such a relief when i get to 9pm thats when i know i have made it! :rotfl:Somedays are much easier than others and weekends are a minefield! Well done on declining the biccys! Whats a few Freddos between friends:j Started my weightloss journey, its neverending!! :j

Cor, been a few heated exchanges of opinions on here today, hopefully that's the end of it!
Well day 4 has gone well, and OH is away for 3 days so in diet terms that's a bonus as I only have to cook for myself, bit miserable on the lonliness front though.
Wondered if I could ask for your advice on something? As I've mentioned before I work nightshifts - which means that on the first night of a set of shifts I am awake and 'active' (well, not running marathons but you know what I mean) for 24 hours.
Now obviously for being awake 24hrs I am burning more calories and definitely need a bit of something food-wise to keep me alive during the night.
How many extra Kcals would you allow?
Just to point out, this happens every set of shifts, so not practical to just starve through it and suffer. Plus I need to be alert for my job (apparently) life and death and all that jazz.
I also run 24 - 48hrs straight through when I work nights and then teach in the day time, so I'd apply the same logic to that as well.
Many thanks for everyone's ongoing support to all, let's keep it the lovely friendly board :A
xxxx
ps) just to mention, I know working long sets of hours is unhealthy, puts a strain on many vital organs, depletes cell grown etc, and some people may say just don't work those hours because of the negative sides effects. Unfortunatley in my financial and career situation it is the only option at present and I'm going to slog through for now. So Kcals definitley need!!!0 -
Harrybear - I used to work a 24 hour shift plus as a community midwife. I will agree that it is very detrimental for your health as I am now medically retired:eek::eek::eek: I used to eat small amounts of good food regularly as I very often felt very sick at the end of a nightshift from tiredness. Also water is very important and dont forget to wee too!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I used to weigh every day but weight goes up and down daily so now I keep the scales in the cupboard until weigh day, which gives a more accurate reading of the weekly loss.
Re sugar the majority of my 5 a day comes from fruit, it has made me think perhaps I eat too much (in fact I know I do) so am going to have to rethink as my weight just hasn't been moving for the past few weeks. Except for Christmas when it went up alarmingly! Veg does contain a small amount of sugar but not nearly as much, so when the fruit bowl has run down a bit I'll get more veg in and prep a box of crudites to keep in the fridge.
Back to today -
B - Spicy fruity porridge
D - Lamb chop, hm wedges sprinkled with oxo cube, grilled yellow pepper
T - 3 crackerbread spread with ff yogurt - 1xvegemite, 1xrfcheese&pickle, 1xscrape raspberry jam
S - satsuma, apple, melon, grapes0 -
One advantage of having a stinky cold, you cant taste anything so eating seems like a waste of time.
Managed to remember to collect HM soup but considering the veg content of it i am thinking i need to reduce portion and add some sort of fiber thing to this. As don't do bread I get a bit bored with rice cakes and the like so need a bit of inspiration on this score.Start info Dec11

Morning all,
Mrs_T_M you have my mouth watering again … I really need to have a look through these recipes.
Louby40 – thanks for your support … I do feel a bit slow at the moment but I have only done one session – my second tomorrow, I’ll keep reporting how I have done.
Rossy2692 – Hope you are feeling better soon … there is too many bugs around at the moment!
Sparer – I have used some nutmeg … my mum uses that in rice pudding so I thought I would try it … I have still to make my vat hopefully tonight. I’ll let you know if it tastes alright.
VALM – I was over yesterday on my cals by about the same (I have programmed MFP to lose 2lb though so have a 250cal allowance to just to 1.5lb) – What have you programmed yours at?
Harrybear_1988 – Do you have days that you sleep quite a lot? Would it work better having a weekly calorie count? I know a few clubs that recommend this for shift workers … however if you are awake extra and don’t get the sleep back it might not work.
My day looks a bit like this
B: 3 Weetabix, milk
L: 2 Ryvitas, Philly and Cup a SoupMince, Potatoes and Veg – (failed for a second night to use mince and don’t want to chuck it)
S: Banana, Apple, 2 Satsumas, Plum
E: Walk dogs 20 mins (I haven’t been able to do this for last few weeks but I am ready to start again … it hasn’t been fair on poor hubby doing both lots)
I didn’t really get organised before returning to work but I have tomorrow off and my in laws have my DD Thursday so I will be meal planning Wednesday ready for my shop on Thursday.
I also think I will be weighing myself Thursday this week as I am out for birthday lunches with my friend Friday so won’t have chance to weigh.
Hope everyone has a good weekSW member: 09/01/2014

L: Salad with 2 rashers of bacon with absolutely all of the fat cut off. (I gave it to the dog, now I better make sure he exercises otherwise he'll be overweight like me)Baked potato with tuna and low fat mayo and side salad.
S: Banana
Exercise: 30 mins on exercise bike.0 -
Nearly had a meltdown earlier. I've made a lemon meringue pie for my birthday. It's a bit early, but it freezes quite well.
I had chosen to put one of my homemade personal pizzas down for a snack between lunch and dinner, which I really wanted, but I also wanted the lemon meringue pie! Spent a good 10 minutes agonizing over it, then decided to go with the pie instead. Yes, it's nearly 350 calories per slice (), but it's been budgeted for and I'm going to enjoy every little bite!
I'm also going to walk down to Morrisons tonight and meet DH after he gets off from work to do our shopping for the rest of the month (except for milk and eggs). That's a 2 mile round trip, which will take me at least 45 minutes to walk, so that counts as my exercise today!0
