  • Hi Folks,

I’ve had a couple of good days food-wise and I’m getting back into the swing of things – exercise-wise I did manage to get in a relaxing 3-4 mile walk today in between all the washing….ironing….hoovering…..dusting – basically the whole house has been cleaned & tidied from top to bottom…….. Is this just a Scottish thing or does everybody make sure the whole house is in order before the New Year comes in??

Anyway I’m well and truly exhausted – but the house is like a new pin….weeelll….almost.

There’s a wee bit left in the box of wine for me to toast the New Year – that is if I can stay awake – then it will be a “dry house” for the next few weeks.

So when it comes - I wish you all a very happy, prosperous and weight-losing year. Cheers = Here’s tae us, Wha’s like us – Damn few, and they’re a’ deid – Mairs the pity!

May the best ye hae ivver seen, be the warst ye’ll ivver see.
May the moose ne’er lea’ yer girnal wi a tear-drap in its ee.
May ye aye keep hail an hertie till ye’r auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye juist be sae happie as A wuss ye aye tae be.

Happy New Year - thank you for your continued support x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Happy new year to everyone and I hope it brings you all that you wish for.
Started off as I mean to go on with a dog walk (no rain hurrah!) and then a 5.5km run - have started to add a bit on to each run now to build up the distance slowly. Only 2 months to go before I have to do the 10k in public (with supporters ) so better stick to it.

Was within the cal allowance yesterday and hope that today will be the same although I'm off to a friend's house this afternoon and she's a feeder! Will do my best to resist!

    Happy New Year everyone!

Had a very lazy morning so far...still not dressed.

Porridge for breakfast. HM chili with baked pots for tea.

No alcohol now until the weekend when I may have one small one on Saturday!

Going to try and go for a walk later

    Enjoy your day

    Hi all

    Happy new year :j

I have to lose weight this year due to ongoing health problems. Losing weight can be difficult as I suffer PCOS however I am not going to let that be an excuse any longer.

I have an interim goal of 1st April which as approx 12 weeks by that point I'd like to have lost approx 1 1/2 stone which is a bit more than a pound per week.

    My plan is to:
    • Eat healthier
    • No takeaways
    • Use my treadmill 5 times per week
    • Reduce potion sizes
    • Track food consumed
    • Treat this as a lifestyle
    • Don't feel guilty if 1 day goes off track
    • Don't allow people to sabotage my efforts
    • Keep focused on 'why I'm doing this'
    • Do not have things in the house that will tempt me

Good luck to all who will be challenging themselves in 2013

  • Having spent a lazy morning browsing MSE Forums that I do not usually visit I have read through a few pages of this one and have decided to join. I have been on the scales for the first time in at least 6 months only to have it confirm what my clothes were already telling me. I am very overweight. I have calculated my BMI and I am obese. I need to loose 3st 3lb  to get to the top of the "normal"" section of the BMI range scales. I can not afford to go to a diet club and do not believe that faddy diets are a healthy way of loosing weight.

I have to take medication to prevent sever migraines and one of the side effects is weight gain. I suspect that I have probably used this and being middle aged as a convenient excuse to not watch my diet. I am currently suffering with back problems following a car accident and I am on medication for high blood pressure. I have a very strong family history on both sides of heart disease. All of this will be improved by loosing some weight.

Exercise is not really an option at the moment due to the back pain but I can improve my diet. Comitting this all down in print will help to focus me and now I have something to prove to people (always a motivator for me).

Please add me to your challenge. I aim to loose 10lb over the 12 week challenge.

One tip I have is when making a white sauce for things such as cauli/broc cheese swap half of the milk for the same volume of chicken stock. Cuts a few calories and tastes very good.

looking forward to sharing OS diet tips with you all.

I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

    Hi Mrs Veg!
Sorry to hear about your medical problems, they make losing weight even harder. I too am going to be attempting this purely by changing what I eat as I have a back injury that has stopped me doing my regular walking. Don't know how I'm going to get on - I've been laid up for 4 months, and have put on half a stone (that's on top of the 3 stone I already needed to lose :()
But I'm fed up of my clothes not fitting, or not looking good, so need to try. Good luck to us both!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?
  • Happy New Year to you all!
Wishing you good health and miraculously easy weight loss!

Dragon - please put me down for 7 lbs thank you
Can't see me losing as much as that but I shall surely try. Was going to join the gym this week but it's quite scary taking that first step
