Oooooh…..now that sounds tasty and definitely appeals to my taste buds – do you have a recipe to share?

    Carrot & Ginger soup

6 large carrots, peeled and chopped
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
vegetable stock to taste - I use about 3 teaspoons
ground ginger to taste - I use about 1 1/2 level teaspoons
remember to taste as you go!

You can lightly fry the onion if you want, but the recipe works ok if you just cover everything in a medium sized pan with water, boil until cooked, then blend with a hand blender.

You can use this method with any veg you need to use up, so long as you start with the onion and veg stock.

productive day - went out shopping with DM.

First time I've been proper shopping in months, got some new shoes and clothes, and a few other bits and pieces, including some of the last christmas presents we need for this year. spent much of the evening sorting out and wrapping presents as well, using up wrapping paper etc left over from last year!

on the flip side, we had a lovely meal out and I realised even though I ate almost nothing for breakfast I couldnt finish my lunch over 3 hours later! my tummy must truly be shrinking!

b- tea, special k blueberry moments individual pack
l- coleslaw, chips, jalapeno burger (which is a burger + sour cream, lettuce and peppers)
d- l/o roast beef in a sandwich [2 slices white bread], pack of monster munch crisps.
s- ww chocolate mini roll, twirl bar, individual dairy milk bar.

e- walking around shops, public transport, many many stairs, wrapping presents, tidying up.

Thanks MrsCD, I thought it might have been using fresh ginger - when I went through my juicing phase I loved carrot, apple and ginger - will def give this soup a go :T

I made a change to my meal plan yesterday, I had been falling back into bad habits and not using things up before they needed to be chucked, so I’m doing the GC again. After doing an inventory of my fridge/freezer I found some bacon & single cream that needed to be used, so rustled up some pastry and made a quiche using the bacon, leeks, cream, eggs and cheese – OMG  the calories – but have to say it was lovely and no soggy bottom :j. I did unfortunately eat more than I should have and only 4 portions made it to the freezer.

So yesterday’s dinner is now planned for today
    B – Yoghurt & stewed plums
    L – Spicy Parsnip Soup
D – Chorizo & Bean Stew, green beans, pitta bread

    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £42.19

Ok, I need to get back into the habit of posting my meals! I haven't counted calories for a week which is not good...must start that again too.

    Monday's food

Pre breakfast - a couple of spoonfuls of leftover cold rice pudding, I needed to eat something to enable me to take my medicine that would get rid of my vertigo and let me drive OH to the station!
B - cocoa pops and soya milk (found some of those mini multipack boxes lurking in the back of a cupboard going out of date so need to use them)
    S - banana
L - tomato cup a soup, 4 cream crackers, apple
S - tea, 3 (:() Bourbon biscuits - again needed to eat with medicine but that is no excuse!
D - small amount mashed potato, gammon steak, leeks, sweetcorn, broccoli, gravy
S - hot chocolate () with marshmallows (:eek:)

No exercise save being on my feet all day at work.

BAD DAISIE! Also, if the scales were to be believed yesterday morning, I may be reporting a gain this week...AARRGGHH!

Bit of a random one I've been using a app on my iphone think its availible on android too and it's free it's called myfitnesspal I find it brilliant I can't write all my calories and food content etc on to it and you can compare it to what you should be eating for the day . You can also set it up for weight loss I've got mine set a 2 pounds a week and it will help you stick to roughly the right amount of calories for the day you can also enter exercise and increase your calorie intake too
I've been using it for 3weeks and lost 4kg since being on it too
    #1799 sealed moneypot challenge- target £500 s/f £378

I think quite a few of us use that :) I could never get on with it myself and I use nutracheck, which is not free, but works for me. I say 'I use'...I haven't in about a week :o
  • Hello All

Had a stressful weekend at work and my healthy diet went out of the window, so starting today super healthy, well thats the idea as dont want a gain on Friday. (singed eyebrows will not be a good look):rotfl:

    Todays plan:
B: usual hf cereal and fruit
L: tinned tomato soup and 2 bread
D:roast pork bake type thingy (using up the manky veg in fridge)
    S: banana and yoghurt
    Ex: dog walking and housework

Off now to put a pan of veg soup on the hob, hoping it will warm and fill me up and stop me snacking over the next few days.
Success is a journey, not a destination
