    Afternoon All

I didn't get chance to post yesterday as we were really busy and then I was really tired but I didn't lose anything. I am not too worried as I am eating really well and if I end up staying at this weight it will be ok. I think it is really hard to lose once you only have a few pounds to go and I am at my original target anywhow.I have managed to wean myself onto black coffee over the past 3 weeks so was hoping I might have dropped but haven't.

B: Poached egg on toast (half of one of DH's lovely soft white rolls).
L: HM pancake stuffed with spinach, beetroot leaves and parsley (all HG) and garlic, red onion and mushroom and topped with creme fraiche and cheese. HM chocolate mousse.
T: (Pack up made and ready to take to work) Prawn mayonnaise salad - with HG mixed leaves, baby onions and my first HG cherry tomatoes, with mushroom and mixed seeds.
Snack: Half a bar of dark chocolate (20g).

Exercise: 10 mile run (!!). My friend and I are very slow but did it and could have gone further. We are adding an extra mile to our long runs every 3 weeks. This time last year I hadn't even started running so am very pleased. 2 miles of walking once I have gone to work.

PS Good luck with your 5K tomorrow Welsh Woofer.

  • I spotted a poster for a local running event today at the gym - it's a half marathon (no way!) but they also do a 4k fun run. Tempted to aim for the fun run, give myself some motivation to train for something.

Atm I am interval training for 15 mins at a time (and finding it tough!), and today managed 2k (50:50 running:walking). Is it possible to up that to 4k by October, running 100% of the time?
  • Hi Folks, a quick question - has anyone tried making meringues with a sugar substitute?

Having defrosted my freezer I found a container with 3 egg whites in it - left over from my indulgence phase when I made some Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream - which was delicious by the way, but I don't want to throw the whites away and thought I could make meringues.

I've had a search through the Cooking Index but couldn't find anything, so I thought I would ask you :D

Bad day, eating everything in sight!! Very silly as I can't afford to eat the cupboards bare and it's not doing me any favours! Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

    That's some going! Well done.

    YES YES YES!
    You can do it.
You have a month and if you can trot 2K now you can build up to 4K by then. I found that if I don't worry about speed and just concentrate on keeping going I'm able to run for much greater distances than I thought I could. Just do 0.5K extra at a time and keep doing that distance until you feel comfortable with it. Do it at a slow pace, even if its feels like you're only just going a bit faster than walking, once you can do the distance you can start to work on how fast you go. Good luck!

It might sound daft but if you run with a stop watch/timer ticking up from zero you will find it easier to keep going past your target and push on. Whereas a timer counting down means you will automatically start to slow ready to stop when time is up. It's just a brain trick but it works ;-)

Jammy dodger, I think it's quite lishious & got that spicy kick on the tongue - its a BBC Good Food recipe - I've have tried doing links but they don't seem to work for me, but if you search on their site under the full name it will come up.

Re my meringue query - I tried doing the egg whites with just the sugar substitute and OMG ended up with something that looked like meringues but had the texture of Quavers/Skips :rotfl: :rotfl:- must try harder!!
