    Afternoon All

Well, after reading 'Escape the Diet Trap' at the weekend and following the principles in it since Monday, I've lost a couple of pounds and am finally back to my pre-holiday weight. I don't need any smiley faces as I didn't have any taken away, but hopefully might get one or two next week if it keeps up.

After seeing pictures of people's meals on another thread I thought it might be nice to post the odd picture of our meals to give inspiration so if this works, here is my lunch- a prawn and avocado salad with home grown salad leaves, seeds, etc.

    5552439.jpg

B: Banana sliced with a teaspoon of creme fraiche.
    L: Prawn and avocado salad.
D: Kedgeree made with smoked haddock, salmon, mushrooms and grated cauliflower instead of rice. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
    Snacks: Iced coffee frappe

Exercise: 1 hour stability ball class. 2 miles of walking so far today.

    Rose

What time can I come round to be fed? :rotfl:

Oh that salad looks lovely :D What a great idea to post pictures!! Now if only i knew how to do it............................

I've not been posting up my meals as I keep forgetting lol.

    Today has been ok ish.

B - skipped as was up late
L - Home made oven chips
D - Home made oven chips & cheese (yes, naughty!).

All i've wanted to eat today is my home made oven chips, I'm a bit addicted to them lol luckily for me they are quite low in calories and fat. I have an app on my phone to track the calories I have every day so as long as I stay under my set amount then all is good :-D

I seem to have naturally fallen upon a solution to my lack of willpower.

My biggest struggle, especially at the start of a "diet" or healthy eating routine is that cutting out all the bad things in one hit doesn't work and it makes me want them ten times more than I did before. So what I've done is tweaked my main meals to make them as healthy, and low in calories/fat as possible. To the point that my three meals of the day all together take up about half of my calorie quota. That leaves the rest of the quota for oopsies. I make my meals as healthy as I can so that I am getting the most out of them, I also aim to be under my quota every day to make up for the lack of exercise due to my bad back.

So when I do have something I shouldn't (like cheesy chips tonight) I still end up under my calorie allowance and still lose weight... well it's worked the last two weeks anyway and I have had some very naughty days!

The plan is to gradually improve my willpower and cut all the bad things, I am finding that I am wanting them less and less as the days go on. It's something that will take time, but rather than just cutting it all out and getting depressed when I go over my calorie count one day, I make an allowance for bad foods so that even if I give in to temptation I still lose weight... and if I don't give in to temptation I can have an extra healthy meal or snack to use up some of the leftover calories to make sure that I am not too far under my allowance.

I have a double struggle going on as not only am I giving up unhealthy foods to lose weight but I have to cut out all sugary foods due to being recently diagnosed with diabetes. I still have the odd bottle of Dr Pepper here and there, and the odd ice cream etc. But I have noticed I'm not liking the taste of them so much now, I think my brain is telling me I don't like them because I'm not supposed to be having them :-D

I loved the photo of that salad that was put up earlier, not my kind of meal personally but looked great. I might put up the odd photo of our healthier meals to give you guys some ideas :-D

If you haven't already, definitely give home made oven chips a try, with 1 cal spray oil they are so yum and healthier than shop bought ones :-D.

Bad day today... But I needed it after yesterday and don't feel bad as I barely ate a thing yesterday and still lost 4lbs this week.

    Breakfast - none
Lunch - spaghetti bolognaise, ice cream (dairy free which is a bit healthier than normal but still not great!)
    Snack - 2 biscuits
Dinner - salmon fillet and roasted vegetables, glass of rose wine
Dessert - 2 pieces (!) home made vegan Victoria sponge, made with lower fat cooking oil stuff

Well I got on the Wii this morning and guess what? Exactly the same as last Friday!
At least now that I'm writing down what I'm eating, I will have a better idea of what to cut down on.
I was too late last night to write yesterday's food down, so here's today's.
B - berry cereal, plain yog, 1tsp honey, milk & water
    Tea at work
L - small scone, banana, tea
    Lots of water
D - oven chips, fresh salmon, tea, orange juice
S - drop scone & jam, pear, grapes, maybe a chocolate mousse later on.

Just done 3x 10 mins of the 10 Min Solutions Blast Off Belly Fat DVD. Some of the moves are really hard and I think I'll need to practice them a bit before I'm any good at it.
    Could feel them working though!

I'm glad you found one you like, they do a lot in just 10 minutes! Keep at it and you will know all the moves in no time!

I have been very 'good' this week and my scales reckon I've lost 4lbs since Monday, but that's not really possible, is it? Wondering if I need new scales. Anyway...this was a bit too long, sorry!

Welcome Daisiegg! 4lbs is definitely not too much to lose in a week, it does happen (if only it happened more oftern)!

Well done to everyone and their losses this week, I hope none of you are too badly affected by this beautiful summer weather we're having?

I came to my weigh in today, and I'll be the first to hold my hands up and admit I've not be a saint this week. But I joined a local gym and I've been working off everything bad. I expected it to balance out on a maintain. Instead I have gained 2lbs  It's really gotten to me, as if I'm honest, 10 days ago I had lost 3lbs, and so that technically means I've gained 5lbs in 10 days (0.5lbs a day!!!). 12st is a barrier I can't seem to break through. I've been hovering around it for 2 months now (within 2lbs under and over). Think I need to take drastic action! How do you break through your ceilings?

    Morning All,

Finally caught up on everyone’s posts (four pages) and nice to see so many new names on the thread .

I went a bit off track this week – no time to “Shred” or meal plan but I am determined to get back to it with a vengeance. Although there are only a couple of weeks left of this challenge I will be running my own mini challenges alongside –
    1. To use up and empty the freezer
    2. Lose 6lbs by 7th Sept (that’s including the remaining 4 for this one)
I have booked a beach holiday (1st for a couple of years) :j and can’t bear the thought of exposing my body the state it’s in aside from the fact there is still a good sized muffin top when I fasten my shorts :o.

So freezer supplies dictate the meals for today =
    B – Toast, spreading cheese
    L – Butternut Squash Soup
D – Liver & Butter Bean Casserole, Broccoli & Sweetcorn.

Off to Shred right now then a bit of gardening – weather not brilliant but at least it’s not raining…..yet!!

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Well, yesterday was the first day of my re-launch.

It wasn't great, but the important thing is I've written it all down, so that's a good start, right? :)

Breakfast: 2 Weetabix, semi milk, sugar (aim this week to avoid having sugar on cereal)
Lunch: 2 slices white bread, spread, salad cream, 2 slices ham, cuc, tomato
Dinner: vegetarian shepherd's pie and cauliflower (olive oil, onion, carrot, green lentils, red wine, veg stock, sweet potato mashed with a bit of butter and topped with a bit of grated cheddar)
Snacks: :o 6 x Nice biscuits, yogurt coated strawberry, bag of Smoky Bacon crisps, 4 Ryvita with Cheddar and chutney :o
Drinks: water and tea, hot chocolate at bedtime

    Exercise: none :o

So, clearly not a great start, but a start it is, just by writing it down, and I already have my first aim for this week.

    Afternoon All

I've had a busy morning doing a bit of springcleaning in preparation for having someone coming to look over the house - we've just put it on the market. I've got work at 5 so had a cooked lunch.

    B: Milky coffee
L: Pork with cream and mushrooms, roasted red pepper and grated courgette. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.

    5559631.jpg

D: (Pack up for work) Chicken salad - maybe in a wrap.

Exercise: 5 minutes of high intensity interval cardio plus 10 press ups. Spring cleaning. Walk to work later.

I woke up this morning and that 2lbs gain has just disappeared into thin air. Ragz, please can you give me an STS this week instead? I'm back to my start weight. Back to 'the ceiling'.

Spent my morning at the gym, zumba then 45 mins on various equipment, cycling flat out and running until my legs wanted to fall off, and getting a bit carried away on the abs machine. Does it count if my 6 pack is hiding under a spare tyre? :rotfl:
Still haven't had lunch yet, not sure what's on my menu for today so we shall see! I will have a pay day stock up on the fruit and veg later.

Rose wood, your lunch looks fantastic, I never thought to have grated courgette as a side!
Savesummore I think you're right about the scales thing, I will try putting them away and see if that helps.
