Morning Folks
Welcome Chelseabun, Mlarky and Welshwoffer – good luck with this challenge
Rosewood – good luck with the 10k run – I’m sure you will surprise yourself, it’s amazing how the atmosphere and other runners keep you going.
Yesterday’s menu went as follows
B – Yoghurt, strawberries & pineapple
L – Toast & Pate, tomatoes
D – Freezer stock = roast pork, roast potatoes, peas
S – 2 x Digestive Biscuits
E – Brisk walk to/from library (3 mls)
After my STS plateau over the past few weeks I have regained my enthusiasm. Yesterday I found an old diary (2001) for some reason I had recorded my weight – 9st 4lbs, can’t believe I had let myself go up to 11st by 2011. So now that I am more than half way to my target my determination is stronger than ever.
I am getting so fed up of this cold, wet weather and really disappointed that all of the summer clothes that I can now get into are still hanging in the wardrobe – today I may just put the heating on, slap on some fake tan and prance around in a pretty summer outfit :rotfl:
On the other hand as the sun is trying to get through the clouds and so many of you are going out running or walking I should get my backside in gear put my trainers on and get out there too.
Have a good day.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

I am really interested, what book are you reading?
I got this one from the library here, it's an Aussie book but I am sure you could find something more UK centric as foods and brands differ quite a lot.
I found this site has a lot of good 'no-nonsense' info that covers the basics, although I later found it is essentially the opening pages of another book:

Need2bthrifty  you really put me to shame! I don't think I weighed even as little as 11st in 2001 - which is even worse because I'd just started high school then...
Welcome Welshwoofer! Can you tell me a little more about this exercise dvd (like can it be used in a small space??).
Went out to run this morning, but because the sun is out, the allotments next door were packed, and I felt too self-conscious, so I started racing back and forth in the living room instead. Thought it was perfect as I had the house to myself, but turns out my housemates bf was having a lie-in - he must have thought I was a right nutter!
In my defense, my housemate went on holiday 4 days ago, so did not expect anyone in her room!0 -

Its by Jillian Michaels from the US version of Biggest Loser and its supposed to give very good results - have a look on YouTube for before and after videos of normal people that have done it. You're supposed to do it every day for 30 days moving from Level 1 to Level 3. Its only 20 mins per session but it is quite hard - as she says, to get any benefit from 20 mins you have to push yourself and have absolutely no breaks or rests. Most of it is on the spot stuff and crunches on the floor so you don't need much room.
I was very stiff after the first 2 days but that got better and easier very quickly, but I'm still on Level 1;)
I haven't done it yet today but will do later but I have walked for 30 mins this morning and 30 mins this afternoon with the dog. I'm going to make a 3 bean chilli for tea using tomatoes, mushrooms, pepper, onion and sweetcorn (and 3 different types of beans of course!). I usually have this with a bit of cheese grated on top - I don't bother with rice as there's plenty of carbs in the beans and its very filling.
There are grapes in the fridge that I can have a little pick at later if desperate.
I must make lunch for tomorrow too - I'm a teacher and school dinners are too much of a temptation:o . They're actually very nice but come with a pudding that I find it impossible to say no to.0 -
been warm and sunny here, and managed to get several loads of washing dry, good exercise running up and down stairs taking washing out, (in upstairs flat), plus been helping ds1 move, so more weight lifting in the form of boxes.
B bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomato
L smoked mackeral, egg and cheese salad
T sausages, veg and gravy plus strawberries for later
s protein drink, and few nutsloves to knit and crochet for others0 -

Ive got the 30 day shred dvd too- have started it a couple of times but never got to 30 days :rotfl:it is very good though
Your 3 bean chilli sounds lovely
Tip- if you freeze some grapes you can take afew out of the freezer at a time and eat them frozen- sounds weird but it is really nice to suck on them (!!!!!)O/S weight loss 2.5 /10lbs (11st 8.0- 08.02)0 -

Minicooper272 – there’s no shame here, your only critic will be yourself…..In 2001 I was 40 and because of family history I think I was determined not to be fat, fair and forty.
I was a bit of a “cuddly” character in my teenage years and remember having to buy a size 16 skirt  for my college interview….. but then I fell in love(aaawh bless) started working and the weight just fell off……lost the guy, thankfully, cause I saw him 30yrs on  - of course I’m perfect and haven’t changed at all. But at least the weight stayed off and I was pretty stable weight-wise for a number of years.
With me I think it’s been a combination of a gradual gain over a few years due to a sedentary job and menopause. But I still have some of my favourite clothes from 10-15 years ago and I’m determined to get back into them :j.
Just remember this is your challenge and please don’t compare yourself to others – I like many others probably say these things because I’m so chuffed that I’m getting closer to my target and want to share my achievements :T - it’s not to shame others.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Evening All,
Thanks for all the good wishes everybody. I did my run in about 1 hour 8 minutes I think - haven't seen the official time yet. My target was to be under 1 hour 10 min so I am quite pleased. I hated all the photos DH took though and want him to delete every one!! I have a really red face and also don't look as slim as I hoped I did!!
Also thanks savesummore for the compliment about the food I eat. I have got much more adventurous in the past couple of years, especially once we started growing our vegetables.
I've done the 30 day Shred and it really does make a difference. I've now got Jillian Michael's 'Ripped in 30' but have only done week one so far and keep getting distracted from going any further.
I have had DGD all day, had to go straight from my run to collect her so I've been quite busy. We've been running up and down the garden all afternoon with a ball - I make the teddy chase after it and try to get it as she runs - so had even more exercise!!
B: Muesli with sultanas.
L: 2 ryvitas with cream and garlic cheese with cherry tomatoes. Grapes.Roast gammon, mashed swede, peas, sweetcorn. Strawberries and cream.
Snack: Piece of dark chocolate with orange bits.
Exercise: 10k run. Walk to and from run start and to collect DGD so about a mile. Running up and down the garden all afternoon.

Well, first day started well, but then we had a shared lunch, with homemade sausage plait, cheese straws (I LOVE those!), and millionaire's shortbread for pud. Oh dear. Rest of the day has been ok, though - went to see my dad and didn't have any biscuits with our cup of tea, which is very unusual! So all in all, not a complete disaster!
B - 40g porridge made with half milk half water, blueberries, 1 tbsp yogurt, and a (small) splash of maple syrup.
L - salad, couscous, sausage plait, cheese straws, other bits n pieces. 2 small pieces millionaires shortbread and one small piece choc brownie for pud.
T - Banana sandwich with HM bread, small amount of butter and honey. Bag of W*lkers Sunbites (wholewheat, low cal and tasty!)
No snacks so far, but lunch made up for that! No exercise today, but intend to go to the gym tomorrow with DH.
Hope all went well today for everyone. Congrats on your run, Rose! I really admire people who can run - I'm just not built for it, even when I'm much thinner!
SSM - I'm going to try the frozen grapes thing, they sound lovely!
