Morning, All
Total disaster last week and this weekend, completely lost the plot, but I now feel more on top of everything (housework and garden chores up to date, and have caught up on quite a bit of sleep), so feel a bit more positive today....I need to get a grip of this [STRIKE]eating[/STRIKE] stuffing food down me because I'm stressed malarky. Not good! But it has helped to see a number of you also have similar troubles at work and a similar reaction to eating (and in my case, drinking alcohol) to compensate. I expect I have put on at least a couple of pounds if not more, as have quite simply been a bit of a piggy (well...a lot of a piggy, if I'm being honest). I think you'd all be shocked at how much I've been able to put away, and I could still eat more. I'll spare you the details, but I'm thoroughly ashamed/fed up with myself.
Back on the weight loss trail again, I hope. Today, I'll be preparing my hm muesli, salad for tomorrow's lunch, and taking some portion controlled meals out of the freezer for the week. I have fresh stuff to use up, so it will all be incorporated into the meal plans.
I know someone on this thread sprouts beans for salads. Is it you, Need2bethrifty? Could you help me get started on this? I've never sprouted before :rotfl:, though I do grow my own salad leaves on my kitchen windowsill, and I have lots of herbs. What do I need to get started and what do I do?
So, my plan for today then is -
Brunch - hm wholemeal/seed bread, baked beans and poached egg
Dinner - small lamb steak, lots of spinach (tho where it all disappears to is beyond me!), carrots and peas, hm jacket wedges flavoured with garlic (lots:rotfl:) and rosemary
Treats - I'll be SO MAD with myself if I do....
Exercise - very lethargic, and I know I should as it will help make me feel better, but feel the need to stay within the house as my comfort blanket and read books/mags.
Really hope all who have been feeling stressed and shattered, like me, are starting to feel better now. A bit of warmth and sunshine to sit outside would be a help, but it's not going to happen. It's freezing here, and forecast for rain. I feel an afternoon on the sofa, wrapped in my throw, with a hot water bottle, coming on.
Take care, everyone. Off to get my brunch before I get too hungry and eat more than I need.

Another nice but cold day up here. The garden is springing into life and its good to see the veggies starting to grow. Sunday was a double celebration with my wedding anniversary and my DD's birthday so was a bit boozy, actually it was very boozy!
B: egg bacon, sausage and fruit pudding
L: nothing
T: Roast turkey, roast tatties, asparagus in holandaise, mange tout and sweet and sour red cabbage with gravy. Chocolate and caramel tart with ice cream
S: handful of cashew nuts cause I ran out of crisps:eek:
E: none
I also agree with Molly I'm not on a diet as you can see from above! I just have smaller portions of whatever is on offer and through the week exercise a lot more. I'm also completely addicted to crisps and could never give them up. The weight is still coming off steadily without any great hardship."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0 -

Hi LavenderBees, you sound as though you are having a really tough time. I can totally relate to how you are feeling – been there, done that, got several of the T-shirts – curling up on the sofa with a good book, watching a film with a box of chocs or a glass/bottle of wine is very often all you need to switch off and re-charge your batteries. Just try and remember the 80/20 per cent rule and so what if this week has been 80% bad – next week you can turn it around.
And yes, t’was me sprouting seeds – I use a kilner jar, holds approx 500ml, an old pop-sock (one that doesn’t have a hole in the toe and washed of course) and an elastic band. If you don’t have a kilner jar something like a large mayonnaise or coffee jar would do something that has a fairly wide opening.
A couple of dessert spoonful’s of the seeds in the jar, cover with water and soak overnight, put the pop-sock over the opening and secure with the elastic band. Rinse the seeds a couple of times then drain off the water, leave it propped at an angle (approx 45 degrees) on the draining board, I use a large fruit bowl, to allow the water to drain out. Rinse out regularly to stop them drying out or going mouldy. Within 2-3 days they should be sprouting and ready to eat in about 4-5 days. This amount gives me about 3 good handfuls of sprouts to put in salads/sandwiches.
I have mine on the kitchen windowsill – it gets the sun most of the morning – so I rinse it regularly, but if you are out at work all day I would suggest not putting the jar in direct sunlight. I’ve tried alfalfa, broccoli and fenugreek seeds all of which were a great success and a great addition to boring old salad leaves.
Good luck with the seeds and just remember things could be worse – at times when I felt like you do now I would recall a little story a friend once gave me about a sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter. However as the weather turned colder he changed his mind and started flying south. But soon his feathers started to freeze and he fell to earth but landed in a fresh cow-pat – he thought he was doomed but as the warmth of it started to defrost his frozen feathers he began to sing – a cat passing by heard the singing, cleared away the s**t and promptly ate the sparrow. The moral of the story – If you’re warm and happy in a pile of s**t…….keep your mouth shut!!

Hey all
I've gone off the rails a bit this weekends in terms of eating loads/not moving, so its nice to read everyone's posts and realise we're all in the same boat!
Back on the grind tomorrow, I think!0 -
I get so mad at myself if i have a piece of cake as i think it ruins my diet.
the problem is when i do get down to the size i want, then i'm going to put all the weight back on by eating cake again.
i need to change.
Me too
That could have been written about me. I am a text book yo yo dieter. Every time I say that I won't put all the weight back on again, and yet here I am.......
Still I have had a good weekend diet wise so motivated for the rest of the week"Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence."Weight loss challenge:j: week 1~ Napoleon Bonaparte
