Morning everyone and well done LavenderBees :T

“Fess up” time – after saying the other day that I hadn’t bought any snacks/crisps for ages – my halo slipped and I fell off the wagon big time and succumbed to a pack of Bombay Mix (80g bag approx 500kcal ) the guilty/indecisive factor must have been working overtime as I walked past them twice then finally in a moment of weakness went back and put it in my basket – never mind DundeeDoll’s cul-de-sac surveillance I’ll be getting suspicious looks for loitering with intent in the World Foods aisle :D

I was really disappointed with my dinner last night, in an attempt to make my meagre budget stretch instead of Sainsbugs TTD Feta I bought some of Lid!’s greek style salad cheese (95p) to go with my lentil & roast veg dish and oh dear a very poor imitation, it resembled those soft bendy white pencil erasers you get and tasted about as good – _pale_ yuk – I really should read more of the “false economy/best and worst” threads on the shopping pages.

Anybody got any ideas on how to use up tasteless, rubbery feta style cheese??

    Todays Menu =
    B – F&F, stewed rhubarb, ss milk
L –Pitta bread filled with l/o Chicken, coleslaw, salad
    D – Roast Pork, Veg

I whizzed up some slightly manky feta cheese with some chickpeas, garlic, herbs/spices, spring onions (normal would work as well), olive oil and flour in the food processor and made falafel burgers with it. Well, it turned into falafel loaf in the end by still tasted mega yummy. The cheese gave it a bit more flavour as well (even if it was sub-par on its own).

Yesterday ended in disater, OH was late back from work and on his way back got us a chinese takeaway, so even though I was still stuffed from them blooming crusty cobs I had dinner time I ate plain chow main with curry sauce AND a handful of chip shop chips THEN a mini mars!!!!

I honestly did not enjoy any of it yet carried on eating-crazy :(.
I went to bed that full I hardly slept lastnight

Anyway lesson learnt!! I have been swimming today and done another 32 lengths so going well on my self imposed swimming challenge :A

What about a spinach and feta tart? Make a filling with sauteed onions and garlic, some spices/herbs of choice, lots of spinach and some feta (and maybe sundried toms, if you have any) and wrap in filo, or make mini spring roll type things with them?

Thanks for the ideas EllaRose and MandM90 :T:T.

I had gone to what is fast becoming the Oracle for me (BBC Good Food website) and came across recipes almost exactly the same as you had both suggested. I was making some healthy houmous, using greek yoghurt and the chickpea brine instead of oil, for tomorrows lunch (I like to let the garlic work its worst overnight ;) ) so I made a batch of the falafel patties, some for the freezer and some will go nicely with the houmous and some tzatziki and salad for lunches over the next couple of days .

The remainder of the feta and spinach I have will be made into parcel type thingys with some filo that I have lurking in the freezer for dinner tomorrow.

Thanks again for your ideas :A

    Afternoon All

It has been awful weather here today, thunderstorms and hail. We woke up to rain and I had to put off my run for an hour, then managed to get out. 2 minutes after I had got home it absolutely threw it down. I've had a happy afternoon sorting out and trying on clothes. I am pleased to say that all last year's summer trousers still fit beautifully apart from a couple of tiny size 6's that fasten but that I bulge over the top of!!. Still it gives me something to aim for. I am going on holiday in 3 weeks so wanted to sort out my summery stuff. Re the debate about fat and thin clothes, what I did as I lost weight was have a trying on session every half stone or so and get rid of anything that was too big so that I couldn't use them on a fat day. It helps the weight to stop creeping back again. I only have 4lbs to go to get back to my lightest weight (I had lost another lb this morning but shall wait till the weigh in on Friday to add that to my challenge and signature) and then hopefully I shall lose another 5lbs on top of that.

B: 2 egg spinach and cheese omelette
L: 1/3 of a Margharita pizza with the left over spinach and a bit of grated cheese added on top.
T: (Pack up for work). Prawn salad wrap. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
    Snacks: 1/2 Eccles cake

Exercise: 20 minutes exercise DVD that I did whilst I was waiting for it to stop raining. It was 2 10 minute sessions of Quick Tummy Toners. 10km run/walk - 5km of which was a fast(ish) run, 1km a warm up run and 4 km walk to get to where we started running. If it is not raining I shall have another 1km walk to work, otherwise DH will insist on running me there.
