    Mornin' all

Well I weighed in for my start weight this morning and was pleasantly surprised ! I'm about half a stone lighter than I thought I was which is making my 14lb target look a bit ambitious but I've decided to stick to it. Its something to aim for and might encourage me to do some exercise towards the end when I'm struggling !

    So today
Breakfast : LF fruit yoghurt, banana

Lunch : Two small HM rolls with salmon and cucumber, sugar-free jelly

Mid afternoon : Two rich tea biscuits

Evening meal : HM pork casserole with carrots and broccoli

Friday treat : A slice of HM banana cake

Plus half a pint of skimmed milk for drinks

Exercise : None ! I plan on either listening to Friday night is music night on the radio and do some cross stitch or slob in front of the TV and do a bit of knitting !
Won't be on-line over the weekend so I'll check back in on Monday.
    Good luck everyone

    Robson

Whoopee :j – I’ve broke my duck, seems like for ever that I’ve been losing ½lb putting it back on, losing it again and being on sts for weeks but finally a full pound (plus ¼ ) has gone so I can now declare a 1lb loss. I’m soooooooo pleased, I haven’t been this weight for years, and my friends are noticing as well now that I am wearing tops and blouses that are a bit more fitted rather than the baggy ones I wore to disguise the midriff bulge.

Oh Man, I am so up for this challenge and I don’t care if it takes another few months to get to my target because I’m still enjoying the food that I love, within my budget….ish, so bring it on!!!!

    Menu for today =
    B – Boiled Egg, Oatcake
    L – Ham Salad
    D – Mushroom Risotto

Well done JayII and DundeeDoll, commiserations LavenderBees I’ve there for weeks just keep going.

I second congratulations to JayII and Dundeedoll :T
I've got myself a shiny new set of Argos scales - I didn't bother with BNMI/Bodyfat ones in the end since this is MSE, just good old fashioned mechanical ones for under a tenner!:o

I wasn't too disheartened by my weigh in, just still have 16lbs to go to get down to my target 9st.

I made the schoolboy error of freezing a big pack of chicken without separating, so had to defrost the whole pack and now have a glut of chicken. I've found some nice varied Thai recipes to use it up in the next few days.

LavenderBees - don't be disheartened, seeing the weight come off the scales is great but being able to (almost!) fit into smaller clothes is an amazing feeling no? I'm looking forward to being able to fit into all my smaller clothes, especially trousers/jeans, as I put on weight almost solely on my bottom half.

Need2bthrifty - you're right about the pasta/sauce Italian thing. As I've said before, my OH is Italian, and he can't comprehend why English people would want to put so many things into a pasta dish - he's happy with simply 1 or 2 ingredients in it, like broccoli and chilli oil, or some pancetta with passata and some herbs. I find Italians also serve much smaller portions of pasta, which is why they can get away with having richer, heavier ingredients like parmesan or cream. I find it so difficult to have a tiny pasta portion though!
I adore Italian vegetable dishes - have you tried melanzane (aubergine) stuffed with mozarella and tomatoes? Or artichokes, fried lightly until really tender, served with gorgonzola and fresh bread? Heaven!:D

I haven't done stuffed aubergine yet but did do melanzane alla parmigiana about a week ago - delicious!!

I had a wonderful spaghetti dish on my last holiday in southern Italy, it was like a breadcrumb mix with lemon and anchovies - haven't been able to find a recipe or recreate it successfully but will keep looking.

    Morning All

Despite weighing in even heavier than I expected I have woken up full of good intentions and eager to start the new challenge. I am back up to 9st 7lb so back in the overweight range according to my BMI (being only 5 ft tall!). So my target for the new challenge RAGZ is 14lb. I am hoping to lose several pounds the first week so that the rest of the time I need to lose just under lb per week.

I've decided to cut out bread and potatoes completely this first week - so no more of my favourite breakfast of poached egg on toast - to kickstart the weight loss. I've also dug out the DVD that DH bought me for Christmas that I never completed and done 20 minutes this morning. It's a 4 week course which takes me nicely up to my birthday and the holiday we've booked and I'd like to be back to 9 stone by then.

    B: Raspberries with Greek yoghurt
L: Egg mayonnaise salad (made with 2 teaspoons light mayonnaise and 1 egg). Fun size banana.
D: Sole in a lemon and pepper dusting, cabbage, roasted peppers and butternut squash.

I shall also be having 1 pint of skimmed milk in my milky coffees each day.

Exercise: 20 minutes DVD - Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. Walk to work and back - so about 1.5 miles.

    Good luck everyone.

Ragz could I change my target to 11 pounds please? [Sorry if I'm being a pest]. It's just I don't want to lose sight of my target BMI and settle for less.
    Thank you.

Needt2bthrifty - Melanzane alla Parmigiana, that's it - that's what I meant by that dish! It's lovely, tastes really "meaty" even though its veggie. Spaghetti + breadcrumbs, lemon and anchovies?! Sounds strange but I'm sure its nic, I love anchovies.

TheDragon - thanks, I plan to use up a bit of it in a chicken noodle soup dish, and then use the rest to make Thai chicken cakes (bulked up with veg and pots), then freeze a batch of them.

Speaking of Thai food - it can be so healthy but often a core ingredient is coconut milk, which is obviously very high in cals. I tend to use a small amount of coconut milk and bulk up the rest with normal semi-skimmed to get the flavour. Does anyone ever use coconut cream/coconut water for these dishes?
I'm trying to figure out what would be the healthiest option.

    Morning all :)

I agree with the Italian diet, similarly with the majority of Mediterranean. I lived in Crete for some time where their food is delicious without being fatty - lots of fish - hence my leaning toward a low fat diet today. The melanzane alla parmigiana sounds yummy, must try that one

Am starting afresh today ragz, amazingly since my sneak wi yesterday I've dropped another .4st! How I don't know, but not complaining. So start weight 9st 7lb and will stick with my original plan of 8lb loss over the next period.

    B - spicy, fruity porridge
    D - chicken/tomato casserole. Apple
S - hc bun with lf spread
T - 2 slices WW Danish spread w/ff yogurt, slice lean beef, scrape horseradish.
S - melon, banana, grapes, apple
E - mowing the lawn/general gardening, it's like a jungle out there after being left for only 10 days

    S :)
