  • Just wanted to stop in an say hello to everyone. Had a lot of fun in the sun on Saturday and can confirm that mission get more protein is going well. I've switched to Greek yoghurt and granola for breakfast--it works out reasonably priced at Aldi esp. since one big pot of yoghurt will do me for a week (it says it has 4 servings so with the granola, grapefruit, coffee etc. I think that will be ok for 5 days) and the box of granola will do me for two weeks. The granola isn't high protein yet, but it does have nuts so its helping out as well. I figure I'm now getting about 1/3 of my protein at breakfast. I ate eggs for breakfast most days last week and I have to admit that I wasn't as hungry in the morning and I was easily focusing until lunch time without thinking about snacks or having to stop and have lunch early. My running has also been going better--I guess that could be coincidental and that it is just me improving but I think the protein is definitely helping.:T

Good luck to everyone starting this new week--just think about all of the lovely fresh things coming up! I can't wait for cold salads with boiled eggs and the like for summer!

I started the day by doing an hour of my Rosemary Connely DVD (first time it's been out of the box :o).
Then I got the summer clothes out of storage (bag in the corner of the room) and found I have several summer tops and dresses I had totally forgotten about, many that I had bought on the small side and now fit well. I find now we have the light and the sunshine I am more inclined to get into the summery stuff and look good in it, it was rather too easy to hide the last bulges under the knitwear!
Had a nice summery breakfast of yogurt, peaches and muesli and am now feeling full of the joys of spring. Will be back to the pool tonight, after missing both sessions last week due to tired/lazyness.

I am ready to tackle this new week, try my best and get as much exercise as possible. I have set myself a mini challenge of managing at least 30 minutes exercise a day. Not counting walking as I do that every day to school. Some days will be easier than others, but now I know DD will happily let me do a DVD (and even join in!) I have no excuse!

So, day 1 exercise so far 60 minutes DVD (30 cardio, 30 stretching/cool down etc). Will add swimming later.

I NEED to make some soup, so that will be a job for today. Spotted a nice Lentil Soup recipe posted on the Fiscal Fast thread so I may try that one. Just realised I forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer last night so will have to rethink the meal plan with something that will defrost quicker! Maybe something nice and summery...

Will post the rest of my food plan when I finally find the plot...

Sorry for the long post, have a good day everyone!

Isn't it lovely, and doesn't everyone sound just that little bit brighter and more positive when the sun shines? :D. Couldn't wait to get out there this morning so breakfast went out of the window, having brunch instead, so -

Just found out my latest thyroid test came out 'normal' (over the phone, so I don't know what it actually was), so no blaming that if I don't lose weight this week!

Snack was pistachio nuts. Lunch was lentil soup with a bread roll and a yogurt. Dinner will be fish, new potatoes, chargrilled veg and broccoli. Need some kind of sauce to go with it, usually do a cheese sauce but want a healthier one. Any ideas?

ragz I like to keep things simple when cooking so wrap my fish in a foil parcel with a knob of lf spread, a good squeeze of lemon and a few twists of black pepper. Any juices from the fish mix in and there's plenty to pour over when serving. hth

eta another thought, add a little rf cheese to the parcel. Or, what about mixing a spoonful of tartare with ff yogurt, and add the rf cheese. heat very gently, don't allow to boil or the yogurt will split.

    HI all,

Slowlyfading – well done, I’m sure you will have an absolutely beautiful day.

It’s been another wonderful day here and I think record temperatures for Scotland at this time of year. My exercise today consisted of cutting the grass and other gardening jobs; I helped out an elderly neighbour by tidying and cutting back some shrubs/plants for her – the only problem is she always thanks me by giving me something, today it was a box of Th0rnt0ns chocs :eek:, I told her Nooooooo….I’m dieting!! They are now stashed away at the back of a cupboard, only problem I hear them whispering to me – “we’re here…hellooo…we’re still here” So for a snack after dinner I'm having an have an orange.

After reading the “sprouting seeds to eat” thread I remembered I had some seeds from a previous attempt which was a disaster because at that time I was often away for days at a time. But has been very successful this time and who would have believed that something so small would pack such a flavoursome punch. Broccoli sprouts should be ready tomorrow or day after and I have mung beans soaking tonight to start off tomorrow.

Meal plan for the day has been:-
    B – Boiled Egg, oatcake
L – Red lentil & sweet potato pate, pitta & veg sticks.
D – Chilli, green salad with alfalfa sprouts.
    S = Kiwi & an orange.
