Belated Happy Birthday Prosperina :j
Well, yesterday was a disaster diet-wise, went out to lunch with friends and one had cooked a ginormous roast with stuffing, Yorkies, sauces, you name it, it was calorie-laden! Of course my contribution of apple and plum crumble with cream didn't help. Didn't have breakfast as I knew I'd have a good lunch, and ate nothing when I got home as I was still stuffed at bedtime. Hopefully today will be better although the plan is lunch out. Weekends are not for dieting lately, it seems.
Will report back this evening, let's see if I can control myself in the restaurant...:doh:0 -
Sparrer, you and me on diet disaster! Yesterday I had dinner at friends send it was Death By Carb, still bloated by the (lovely, yummy, but LETHAL) white Turkish bread and white rice which accompanied the main course. Lots of salad too luckily, so I had plenty of veg.
I am getting desperate. Every day I decide today is the day, then as the day goes on I get hungry and overeat.
Does anyone have a diet sheet they follow? I am after a mainly vegetarian, mostly low carb plan, with a little fish and a small amount of pulses and grains (millet, brown rice, quinoa), where can I find some guidance please? When I look online I seem to get either very low fat or very low carb plans, neither of which suit me. I need something realistic! Can anyone help please? Thank you so much in advance! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hey everyone
Not surprised really as have been unwell all week with sore throat, cough and now a head cold. getting a full nights sleep is proving difficult and I'm getting up anytime after 3am  as start to cough and cant stop.
Saying that I bought a bar of chocolate yesterday seeing as I went without in October and it's still sitting on the kitchen bench unopened
Hope you feel better soon and well done on the chocolate :T I think I managed until about the 3rd of October :rotfl:

Hi I dont have a diet sheet as such but try to eat to fill me up. I know if i had say cornflakes and milk for breakfast id be eating my own arm by 9:30am so i try and have something filling like 1 slice wholemeal toast with 2 boiled eggs or porridge and banana, If i have say branflakes I have them with plain yogurt and fruit rather than milk as it seems to take longer to digest. Also if i have a salad at lunch ill have some rice or pasta in it or a couple of (scottish) oat cakes on the side. I also find if I have a sandwich for my lunch i feel like im missing something so ill take carrot sticks instead of crisps. I have breakfast, small snack, lunch, small snack, tea, small snack.
You maybe trying to eat too little early on in the day hence you are really hungry and give up?
Anyway im no expert otherwise id be thin and not on here :rotfl:
Another weekend not drinking and another weekend feeling good. Food has not been hideous but not fantastic either we went to the cinema last night and I had a small popcorn and a handful of chocs on top of a meal out of phily steak sandwich and chips!
Sorry massive post but 1 more thing I had an offer off Group*n for the cinema 2 adult tickets for £10 for Odeon cinemas not sure if offer still on but well worth a look considering the tickets would have been £17.80 otherwise :eek:O/S weight loss 2.5 /10lbs (11st 8.0- 08.02)0 -

Sue, sorry to hear about your cat! Must be very hard to let them go.Sue I'm so sad for you, having lost two mogs within 8 months last year I can't say I know how you feel but am sending my sincere sympathy.
Thanks all, although she was 18, was getting increasingly less mobile and we knew she wouldn't be with us for much longer, it was still a shock when it came to having to make the decision to let her go. At least she is now out of pain.Hey everyone
Its a STS for me this week.
Not surprised really as have been unwell all week with sore throat, cough and now a head cold. getting a full nights sleep is proving difficult and I'm getting up anytime after 3am as start to cough and cant stop.
So have basically eaten whatever I fancied as feeling sorry for myself.

You have my sympathy, as I also went down with a cold last Friday, so I have been coughing and sneezing all week, not to mention my back was still playing up, so I haven’t felt like doing any exercise.
I have had another bad week food-wise, and although I upped my calorie allowance by 100 cals, I’ve still been over every day! Went shopping at a1d1 on Tuesday and went back to my old habits, firstly by buying a cheese and onion pasty for my lunch, then giving in to my craving for white chocolate buttons! I used to always buy these before I started losing weight, and now avoid them, but I felt so grotty that I decided I deserved the treat, lol! Then my boss brought some cakes in during the week, and of course I had to have one, lol, then I had another one the next day! They were only small ‘2 bite’ cakes, and I did nibble them to make them last longer but still naughty, lol! Then on Friday at work, we had some cakes and biscuits being sold in aid of charity, so couldn’t say no to the choc chip shortbread that my friend bought for me. Despite all this I have lost 2lbs, so I am now back to where I started at the beginning of this challenge, and I’m hoping that it is only going down from now on.
OH and I went to the gym today, my first session for 2 weeks, and I managed about 90 minutes, but didn’t want to risk my back by doing any more. However I really must try to do some exercise this week and watch what I eat, as my legs have already started to feel a bit flabby again, and I’ve put on an inch around my waist in the past couple of weeks.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Thank you savesummore, it makes sense what you say. I could not eat a sandwich for lunch because I'd be hitting the bread bin for the rest of the afternoon, I just can't go near bread, especially the white stuff, it is like crack cocaine for me. Dark rye (German type) bread does not have that effect and I buy the seeded one in l!dl, it is nice and one slice topped with some protein seems to do the trick and fill me for a while.
Today was not bad:
B: Peas omelette
S: Handful almonds
L: 1 rye slice with hm cream cheese and smoked salmon, lettuce and tomato saladcauliflower "rice", 1 tbsp brown basmati, vege mince and kidney bean chili.
Incredibly, one day without wheat bread, my face has already lost the carby puffiness. DH confirmed so it must be true, as he usually does not notice subtle changes. May it continue. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Thank you to all for birthday wishes - most kind. Celebrations carried on this weekend: dinner on Friday night with my brother and his girlfriend and then dinner last night with my OH's family. Lucky me!
Had a nice weekend, was one of those that seemed to go on forever, which was appreciated. Did OK food wise, even at the aforementioned dinners and achieved a balance between depriving myself and pigging out which is oh so tricky for me.
Didn't do so well on the exercise front, we were out all day on Saturday when the weather was glorious and then it tipped it down yesterday which meant we didn't venture for the planned walk. Must ask Father Christmas for some waterproof trousers! But staying in was probably best, have been fighting this cold which thankfully is gone this morning. To compensate, OH and I are playing squash tonight. Ha! He has started playing and loves it, his regular partner can't play this week so I am substitute. Never played before, am up for anything once but think it will possibly kill me.
Food will be:
B: porridge with syrup and a banana
L: beef salad sandwich, couple of plumsveggie omelette
After a weekend of birthday cake and candy floss and steak pies and bread and butter pudding I need to get back on it this week.
Take care in the rain and wintry weather today folk, it was a bit of a surprise to see this morning. Don't know why, it's only November!
