I went to the gym as planned on Thursday after work, and I needed the exercise as it was my friend's birthday and she gave me a bit of her birthday cake. :o I only meant to be there for an hour, but ended up being there for almost 3 hours, by the time I'd worked through all the exercises on my program, lol! I'm feeling it in my shoulders and abs today!

Apart from the cake I've been good this week, and am pleased to report a 1lb loss, hopefully I'm now back on track!

    3 hours Sue14 well done.

Maybe all your gym work is paying off?

I wish shops would use a standard sizing, I have no idea what size I should choose, and I mostly shop by mail order, so it means stuff has to be returned. But right now I'm trying not to buy anything because I've plenty to wear...I've even thought of doing the challenge Project 333, but don't know if I could manage it.

I'm the same height and weight as you, but I'm wearing mostly size 14s, or 16 if the top is tight, I don't exercise like you do and I'm not toned. But all my clothes are several years old...maybe I should go to pr*imark and give myself a mental boost lol.

And don't get me started on next trousers...how they don't understand their sizings are so far out I have no idea!!!

Today after work I changed into a skirt...a skirt! what's going on? :rotfl:...okay I also had leggings, purple :), because the skirt wasn't that long and it's getting chillier, and lace up boots, all size 14. I'm Mrs Jeans and T shirt, but want to make more effort to wear something different, what's the point of having it in the cupboard if I never wear it? Especially now it mostly all fits again :) Even one day a week would be an improvement...if I do it often enough my kids might stop asking me where I'm going every time I look nice :rotfl:

I really want to spend Saturday night with wine and crisps, but I'm too full :( Can you be too full for wine?

    I'm intrigued - what's Project333?

Also regarding vanity sizings - I alsways find Next are small for their size, so they either must have mislabled the trousers, or you've lost more weight than you realise SSM

After my move, I am back to finding all my clothes too tight. I'm in a bit of a mood about it at the moment. I don't feel comfortable in any of my clothes, hate glimpsing myself in the mirror, and today when I went clothes shopping, I felt I needed to go UP a clothes size. It's quite quick to put weight on, isn't it? Unfortunately, hating how you look isn't a very good motivator for me, I find it makes me want to comfort eat :(

Feel for you with the clothes getting too tight again, I was exactly the same when I couldn't move about after a back injury...so frustrating to put on after you've been losing.
You've had an unusual few weeks though, with moving and new job, so you've not been keeping to your normal routines.

It's Monday tomorrow, put it behind you, accept where you are now, and start again :) It's 3 months to christmas, imagine your clothes fitting well by then (listen to me sounding like a life coach :))

My own experience with next trousers (I used to buy all my work trousers from them) is that the sizings are all over the place. If I ordered 3 pairs the same size, one would be falling off me, one would fit, and one would be much too tight, very frustrating!

Project 333 is a challenge where you only wear 33 items of clothing for 3 months, and either get rid or pack away the rest. After 3 months you can unpack stuff and have a different 33 items.

  • Thanks ellie - yeah, I look forward to getting back into a good routine, and getting used to the longer days.

I suppose it's true about Next, I have 2 pairs of size 16 trousers and one is around a size too small and the other fit fine.

Project 333 sounds interesting - I was going to start swapping out all my summer clothes next week, so I might see what 33 items of clothing looks like!

I just wanted to say what an inspiration you lot have been. Having come to the realisation that I'm getting fat and can't go on like this I discovered this thread by accident this morning and have been dipping in and out of it all day.

I realised that I've been in denial about the weight I've gained when I had to give in and buy size 14 jeans last week, because I couldn't get my belly squeezed into the size 12. And we're talking m&s jeans here, their sizes are quite generous. I've done various faddy diets in the past, but never managed to keep the weight off. OS has to be the way forward.

Through looking at all your experiences on here and revelations I now know I have portion size issues (I love living alone, but it's hard to cook for one, but I know that's no excuse), and snack too much between meals and rely on prepared food rather than cooking from scratch.

I haven't plucked up the courage to step on the wii yet (I don't own scales) but wanted to thank you all for being honest enough on here to make me realise it's possible to take control of my eating habits and lose weight.
