Have a lovely holiday lynne and good luck with your 30 day challenges vixxy :)

I am not doing too bad atm although I don't really fancy breakfast this morning. I'm trying to stick with soup at lunchtime and had a lovely cream of tomato yesterday. Today's offering is carrot and celery with a hm bread roll. I think, if the scales don't move favourably this week, I will look at cutting bread out of the diet for a bit and see if that makes a difference :o

Hi all, wondering if I can sidle discreetly back in and rejoin you guys (I was here several years ago for quite a while, lighter then too :( ). Have since gained, lost and regained weight with various 'diets' before coming back around to just wanting to eat normally, but a bit healthier and a bit less! I remembered how encouraging I found this thread and how the posting and challenges helped keep me on track...
I'm now 190.8lbs, would like to lose about 36lbs, but my short term aim is half a stone by the end of september.
I started officially on the 1st, today's food was -
Breakfast - Pot of instant porridge (Asda kids, needed using up as bought from AF for camping but kids weren't keen) with a little cinnamon flavoured agave nectar (another odd Approved foods 'bargain')
Mid morning - Bowl of tinned peaches with Turkish yogurt (porridge never fills me up for long)
Lunch - Aldi microwave meal, chicken noodle thing (bought to eat at my sisters while she was cutting kids hair, not something I would usually eat!)
Snacks - Choc brioche, a pair, tea (with milk) and coffee (black).
Dinner - I small slice of pizza, a chicken breast and a load of stir fried veg with sweet chili and soy sauces.

Probably 'too many calories' but it's a lot better that I had been eating...

Can't seem to subscribe to the thread, hopefully I WILL remember to come back and keep up with this..,.

KnitWitch - Yes please, when does the challenge end? I started Monday so how many weeks from then to the end? I'll aim for 1.5lb a week, so if you can work that into it just put me down for whatever that will be, please.

I do remember a few of you from back then, I started/ran the challenges for a while and came up with the happy smilies for lbs off.... here's hoping I get a few of those myself this month!

Had a meal out last night, I had 2 courses and felt so full afterwards my stomach hurt :o It's an unwelcome side effect of dieting for so long, that I can no longer eat a big meal when I'm out.

I find I have the same problem, when we went out to the carvery a couple of weeks ago I put a bit of almost everything on my plate as usual (costs the same whatever you have so might as well get your money's worth, lol!), but I struggled to finish it. I have to admit I still had a dessert though, there's always room for that, lol!

I've been doing quite well this week, and have been under my calorie goal every day so far. I've also walked into town twice instead of driving, which came to a total of just over 2 hours and, according to my tracker, burned 432 calories. One of the trips was today, to post a parcel and to finally join the local gym, as I work for the local council and we get free gym membership, however it has taken me almost 7 years to join! I have my induction on Monday, and will then start using the gym and swimming pool as much as possible.

    OK, food for today...

B - 2/3 tin tomato soup with 1 slice of w/m bread and a little butter
    S - 1 pear and 2 bananas
L - 2 slices of ham with stir fried veg (1 onion, 1 red pepper, 4 small tomatoes, soy sauce and sweet chili) and cucumber.
    S - 1 Cream cracker
D - Lamb and mixed bean chili (worked out calories on MFP, 410 per serving), a recipe I made up this evening, not tasted it yet... Served with Patty Pan squash, which I have roasted in a tiny bit of oil.
    Pud - an apple!
    S - A choc digestive biscuit bar (100 cals)

I don't plan on counting calories all the time, but I'd got so out of control with eating I needed a way to keep track for a few weeks. Today was around 1400-1500. Also got 10 portions of fruit and veg in... which is impressive after barely managing one or two for a lot of the summer holidays!

Not sure how the dinner will be, I had no idea what to do with the Patty Pans, I expected them to be yellow inside but they are white. Much lower in calorie than I anticipated though (about 20 per 100g), so even roasting them they will be a very low cal alternative to the jacket potato the rest of the family are having...

ETA - dinner was lovely, the patty pan roasted was a good companion to the spicy chili.
