This challenge ends the last weekend of September, and you need to say how much weight you want to lose by then, and then post your progress every weekend.

    Hi Ellie,

Thanks for the info. OKay, I would like to lose 7lbs by the end of the challenge. I think that is a realistic figure for me.

I really wish I felt raring to go, could you send me some of your enthusiastic vibes?
I'm finding it impossible to find a bed which doesn't make me ache, I get up every morning aching and stiff. I know it's partly down to my back, but I keep hoping there's a bed out there which will ease it. Trouble is, I can't just keep buying new beds, can I?!

My enthusiastic vibes usually last about three days, so let's see how I feel later in the week :rotfl:

I also have a bad back, but I think mine is due to my core muscles not being very strong. Have you tried exercises to help, or is it definitely the bed?

Sparrer, sorry to hear your news xxx

Ellie would a foam mattress topper help? That or maybe you could speak to a chiropractor about the best mattress for you (might cost to see the chiropractor, but at least saves on trial and error costs).

Not a diet friendly evening: went to a friends house for a few house warming drinks. She said she'd cook food for us, but when I got there, there was no food, just a big bowl of crisps. I didn't fancy drinking on an empty stomach, so I tried to fill up on crisps without looking like I was eating them all :o After about 2 hours of drinks, she brought out a chicken salad, which tasted really nice (but by that point a little late, as I'd already eaten all those crisps!) I also worked my way through a whole carton of apple juice, and two cans of lemonade.

However, we nipped along to the pub briefly, and I spotted there was an outdoor gym, so I dragged everyone in, and to have a bit of a workout :rotfl:

She had one of those people there who spends a lot of time working out, and who likes to make little comments about what you're eating. Whatever you're eating he will eat half the meal, and then tell you how full he is (sometimes going so far as to say if he had your plateful, he couldn't cope)...

Thank you both for suggestions. Yes, I do exercises, but they can only help so much. My spine is not quite straight, and my pelvis tilts a bit (really noticeable in this hot weather when I wear shorts or cut-offs, because the hems are uneven :rotfl:) I bought a new bed when I had the last really bad bout, (now given to DS2) and am still trying to get one which feels "right". Tried 2 mattresses from argos, luckily they let you return them, and now have one from a shop. They will let me swap it for another mattress, so this is my last chance!
It's really wearing being in pain from the moment you get up, although I appreciate some people have it a lot worse than me.

minicooper, I've got a foam mattress topper, want to buy one? :rotfl:
That was another thing which didn't work.

Ooh that would be annoying! and how rude to say he "couldn't cope" with your plateful

Oh the plateful comment was made a couple of weeks ago when we were at a work buffet. It was to 3 of us - we promptly stood up and went back for seconds! Last night it was comments about the crisps.

minicooper, he sounds like a reformed smoker! a bit "holier-than thou" now that he is into diet and fitness. He could do to learn that not everyone wants to hear how little he eats :)

    Hello all.

    Please can I join in?

I have Crohns Disease and three years ago, I was put on steroids and gained some weight. Whilst I have lost almost one stone of the gained weight, there is at least one more to go (hangs head in shame). I need a kick up the backside to get me out and exercising, and also back to calorie counting. I have to do calorie counting instead of any other traditional diet as I am not able to eat too much fibre.

I have a mini break and a week's holiday coming up in August and the temptation is always to say I'll deal with it when I get back, but I want to start now, and be a bit more accountable whilst I am away.

So here I am - I weighed myself this morning (do you need to know figures???) and I'm raring to go.

    tjp

Eep to the steroids, been on them myself and I KNOW how they muck you about!

If you want to join the challenge, all I need to know is how much you would like to lose in the next 9 weeks and then each week you just say how much you have lost (or gained :o)
    Must use my stash up!

Ellie sounds like you did well, this weather you need an ice cream now and again :D I was just saying to my dh how hard it is to not to have all the summer goodies I always took for granted.

Hope everyone has had a nice day and enjoyed the weather. I was a bit over calories so just went for a long walk, much cooler here this evening.

    :rotfl: ellie - show-off!

    Today:
Lunch: baked potato with beans (accidentally got the one with sausages in) and a bit of cheese, berry smoothie
Dinner: HM Keema (lamb mince and peas) curry with small portion of pilau rice
Snacks: 3 ice lollies, 1 croissant

I've just started reading a new book on how to supercharge your metabolism based on your body's predispositions (i.e. I'm not someone who builds muscle easily). It sounds interesting so far!
