Hi everyone
I'd like to join please, although I don't want to do the 7 week challenge. I want to lose weight for several reasons, mainly confidence, but also to make a healthy lifestyle change, I'm trying to do lots of healthy cooking which is a BIG lifestyle change for me, although I used to go to Weight Watchers, I didn't really do much cooking, I just used to buy their convenience meals because 1) they were cheap (I used to get them from Heron Foods where they're £1 each), 2) I grew up in a house where ping cuisine was the norm, and 3) at the time my sole reason for weight loss was confidence. I no longer eat ping cuisine, but I do have to bear cost in mind when food planning, I buy my meat, fish and fruit and vegetables from the market, although I find that fish tends to be more expensive than meat, is fish quite expensive in the supermarkets as well? I never used to really eat fish, but am eating more of it now.
Another of my lifestyle changes is trying to do more exercise, I've been going to the gym for a while now (which is free for me) but realised that I had to step it up a gear, so I now go four times a week. I'm also on a course at my local community centre, which is run by the NHS, and is four weeks cooking and four weeks exercise, although it's not on this week because of the elections.
One areas where I do let my weight loss down is by "picking", I wouldn't buy a pack of biscuits for example, but if my husband buys them, I find it difficult not to take one. I'm thinking about blowing up a couple of pictures, one where I really don't like the way I look in it, and one of me in my wedding dress (when I was at my ideal weight), and putting copies of them on my fridge and cupboard doors, to try to make me think twice before picking. I'm not sure if this will work, what do others think? I certainly think that online support will help me on my weight loss journey, I've been reading through some of the posts and you all seem like a really supportive, no judgemental bunch :T0 -
Hi Emily! Welcome
savesummore our office often gets up to 28 degrees - I sympathise! Hope it cools down soon!
It's been really hot here for the last few nights - I've not been getting very good sleep, and so I've been really tired and low on energy. I had some malteasers earlier because I really did need the energy! Early night tonight I think...0 -

welcome Emily :hello:
For me, the slim photos work better..I find them an encouragement, rather than looking at the "fat photo" and feeling bad that I got like that!
I've also in the past put up pictures of places I wanted to go once I was slimmer (ie. because I'm more physically able when slim, not because I'm not allowed out when fat :rotfl:)
I don't like "ping cuisine", the ones I tried in the past weren't filling enough...easy enough for weight watchers to make them low calorie when there's hardly any meat in them! If you're making your own meals, you can bulk them out with lots of veg.
Why are you all complaining about how hot it is?
I'm still going to bed in a fleece, and taking a hot water bottle for my ice block feet :rotfl:
Do we even live in the same country? :rotfl:
I have been very very bad today...normal meals, 40 minute walk, all going well...so why have I eaten half a big bar of chocolate?
If it's in the house I can't help myself...I need to cut off the supply and not buy it.
I can go for weeks without having any, and then I succumb and buy a bar...I must be stricter with myself.
this week is not looking good...tomorrow is fish supper day
ETA: I know why I ate the chocolate...it was because I needed the energy...thanks minicooper :rotfl:

:o I should clarify that I don't drink coffee, so if I'm really tired, it's a pro plus, diet coke, or chocolate. Ended up on the chocolate today (sugar + a small amount of caffeine!)

hmm, I haven't had any coffee today either...maybe i should have tried that instead, i find it quite a good appetite suppressant.
The best thing I ever had for giving me more energy was a bag of stuff from a chinese acupuncturist...it was part of my treatment for back ache.
I can only describe it as stuff you would pick up from the forest floor, it had leaves and bits of bark in it, among other things. I had to boil it up with water for an hour and then sieve it, and then drink it every day. It was vile, but gave me so much energy. I would walk for an hour and still be bouncing and feel like I could do it again (when usually my back would be so stiff and sore I could hardly fold myself to sit down)
I stayed up really late and never felt tired at all. I could do with some of that energy now

Evening
Have been good again today, fruit for breakfast, pasta for lunch and salad for supper (only got in from work at 9pm!)
I made enough pasta at the weekend to cover my work lunches for the week, gets a bit boring but its so much easier than trying to think what to have to eat every day.
I was chuffed today because someone actually commented that I'd lost weight :T...I've never mentioned losing weight to anyone in the real world as my work colleagues are obsessed with 'diets' and how much you should eat, how many sins, how many calories, whether you've put on or lost etc....as I'm not on a diet I dont waste time joining in with the conversations....have to admit though it was a bit down heartening that no-one had noticed my weight loss.
As emily pointed out earlier, this thread is nice, no-one gets judgemental and we all understand where the others are coming from when it comes to the eventual binge! I'm going to stick to the virtual world of weight loss and sod my work colleagues0
