Oh what a bad day I have had, food wise that is. Prepare to be shocked

    B - Porridge
    S - Banana
L - HM Leek & Potato soup and 4 Aldi Ryvtas
S - 2 (yes 2!!!) full size Viennese Whirls from the bakers
D - HM Lasagne, Oven Chips & 2 pieces of garlic bread.

Normally wouldn't have lasagne but stepkids are here, so was a treat!

I feel really bad and feel like I have had a wake up call today.

    D. 3 crumpets, baked beans, 3 hm panko chicken goujons

Dispatches might be worth a look tonight on Channel 4. Don't suppose it will tell us things we don't already know!! (The truth about low fat food)

Ooo - thanks for sharing! I've just seen this in time.

I dipped into a book this morning, which mentioned saturated fat aren't as bad for us as we think. When I looked into it further, even the NHS website acknowledged the research (by Cambridge University) showed insufficient evidence of a link to heart disease, which sounds really different to what I expected!

Slightly gutted, I bought a blender with juicer attachment, and was really excited for it's delivery today. I even re-watched "fat, sick and nearly dead" in preparation (really good documentary btw!) Amazon keeps jumping back to my parents address as my default address, so I got a lovely message to say my juicer is now sitting at their house... I'll be able to pick it up in 2 weeks :(

btw MFP has scolded me today for not eating enough calories. "Starvation mode will slow down weightloss" so I'm going to have a piece of toast b4 bed :)

    Evening

I stopped using MFP for calorie counting as it's always telling me I dont eat enough even though I'm stuffed...for example this was my food intake yesterday

    B - 2 crispbreads + cheese triangle
L - 1 nest of medium egg noodles, prawns, primula sauce with garlic
T - salad (lettuce, spring onions, gherkins, radishes, cucumber, beetroot, sugar snap peas, cheese, boiled egg, prawns)

    S - 2 clementines, pineapple and grapes

Now I went to bed last night feeling extremely stuffed and couldn't have ate another thing if I tried, but according to MFP was under by 250 calories (525 if you include the calories I gained from my 1 hours walk)

I tend to just go with what I fancy and make sure I'm never going to bed hungry...it seems to work for me at the minute.

Just input today's food on MPF to see what it says and guess what...I'm under by 432 and that's with no exercise included! :rotfl:

D - shared a thin & crispy pizza in Zizzi with DM, topped with ham, chorizo, mushroom and artichoke hearts. Was delicious, will have that one again :)
T - croissant with lemon cheese
S - DM had hot x buns ready when I arrived this morning, had 2 halves. Melon, raw carrot
E - only 3x6 mins with Mr W, as out all day.

I've a feeling that it exaggerates the calories burned by exercise. Used to go to the gym (years ago lol) and I remember how much effort was required to burn 100 calories. Food wise its useful but gives so many options for everything. I realised today I need to enter milk as well as cereal. And even cups of tea. Went to a playgroup this morning and succumbed to a smarties cookie. Have managed to stay within the calorie count but I am hungry tbh.
Time will tell if MFP works for me.
Also got boys weighed today and asked to weigh myself on their calibrated scales too. DS1: 2st 2, DS2: 15lbs 1oz, Me: 63kg 9st 12- weighed myself on our scales before going and they read 9st 9. Will continue to use my scales for continuity but good to know they are a bit generous ;)

    )

Not necessarily, I watched a programme on BBC1, they measured the number of calories used up in a normal day. The next day they put the guy through a massive workout where he only burned around 150 calories, but they continued to monitor calories burned over the next 24 hours, and it came in around 500. I assume that's how MFP works, although I agree that some of it sounds a little higher than it should!
  • It is a beautiful day here in Aberdeen so OH and I are off out for a walk. It is the first day in a week or so where we have seen blue sky so I am hoping it doesn't cloud over too quickly.

As we are still away on hols food plan for today is unfixed but I will aim for healthy choices.

    Good morning!!

    Hope you all are well!

JackieO - hope the op went well and that you will recover soon!

Fluffysox - I thought that too about MFP. I always half whatever it says..but I'll have a look into what Minicooper said! If that's the case it would be amazing! I guess is the heartbeat being raised and the body still carries on burning more hours after the exercise..mhm..mumble mumble...

I am quite happy with myself in the past few days ( I know I havent been writing much)..Friday was home made Pizza with *fairly* healthy toppings..ok, they weren't healthy, they were just plain boring: mushrooms, onions, capers, cherry toms, bacon (used 4 rashers spread over 3 pizzas). Obviously, mozzarella and sauce. There were the 3 of us (bf's mum came over) and 3 pizzas. Bit of beer, bit of wine. MFP said I was over (-467) but it was fine. Could have been worse.

Saturday evening I made roast chicken with gravy, roast potatoes, steamed cauliflower and green beans. Bit of wine. MFP said I was over (-134) but it was fine. Again, it could have been worse.

    Sunday:
    B- Porridge and coffee
L- Leftover cold roast chicken + mixed salad (lettuce, celery, carrot, toms, beetroot)
    S- Apple
D- chicken and mushroom penne bake (half a portion) + mixed salad
E: 2x9 minutes HIIT (video from my Thursday class teacher) + 15 mins pilates (this one taken from a random video on youtube - Cassey Ho)

MFP said +463 and gave me a look of disapproval.

    Monday:
    B- Porridge and coffee
    S- Banana
L- Lettuce with cherry toms salad at 4pm! Was meant to have that salad with half a portion of veggie cottage pie but at 4pm I lost appetite!
    S- Another Banana
D- Chicken and leek pie with garden peas
    E: none

    MFP said +20

    Today it should be:

    B- Porridge and coffee
    S- Banana
L- half a portion of veggie cottage pie + 2 apples
D- Bacon, mushroom, potato, leek, cheese Frittata with mixed salad or steamed cauliflower and carrots
E: Tonight I'll do some exercise too. My exercise schedule goes along with "when my hair needs washing". How very convenient..

Will let you know if I managed to stick to it!

    Have a good day!!
