    Good afternoon everyone!!

It's nice to see people from the Grocery Challenge on here as I suppose the 2 things could really go hand in hand, don't you think!?!

Weekends are always a major set back for me. However, because of the GC my intake of alcohol will reduce massively from now on and that will help a lot!

I think from today on I will start to write my different meals like many of you do. That will make me more "fruit and Veg" conscious and I will probably make an effort to eat more of those.

    Stay strong!

Hi, I know it might be a bit late but can I join please?
I have just turned 40 and have had a hard few months. I am really trying to pull myself together. I took a long hard look at my self and have discovered that over the last few months I've put on lots of weight without even noticing as I was too focused on all the other 'stuff' that was going on! Now I don't know where to start. I don't have any spare cash to join a group, plus I live in the middle of nowhere so don't think there are any!
Can anyone give me some tips on how to start and where to start?

Hi and welcome- Im sure Knitwitch will be along soon to tell you how many weeks are left in this challenge- you can then choice an amount of weight ud like to lose between now and then :)
We all do our own thing diet wise but I think it would be fair to say overall we are trying to do things the 'old fasioned way' cook from scratch, smaller portions, cut out the rubbish etc

Minicooper- I believe you about your gym clothes- im sure ud have gone dressed the same who ever was your trainer ;):p;)

Ellie99- I once gave up suger for about 3 weeks- i was hardcore and tried to have none- this is really hard to do, anyway the first few times i ate suger again I felt really really ill- your body is actually more clever than your brain i think we have just forgotten how to 'listen' to it

    Today:

B: porridge made with 1/2 water 1/2 ss milk, 1 starwberry
    S: Banana, pear drop
L: HM chicken salad with nandos sauce, 1 slice medium wholemeal bread, 2 satsumas, packet french fries
    S: Apple
T: chicken & pasta with HM pasta sauce, prob will also have greek yog and strawberries as a pud

Wow im waffling on here............im off lol

Can I join in please? I'm horribly overweight and need to do something about it, so am hoping this will help. I joined the local council pool this week as well, so planning on going swimming at least twice a week. I need to cut down my portion sizes and reduce the booze intake!
I'm aiming to lose 5 pounds by the end of this challenge.

    today's food -
B - two potato cakes with Quark
L - small portion of mince and veg, cup soup
D - gammon and veg fried rice with curry sauce
snacks - frozen yogurt, two new potatoes

    Hi Weeze,
most of us on here are losing weight without the "help" of paid diet clubs.
how about thinking about what you've been eating on a normal day, and then working out what the high calorie things are, and what you can cut out or replace?
There are online sites which give calorie values and guidance as to how much you need.

I have been strict with myself today to get back on track.
    B: muesli/granola
    L: cheese and pickle roll
D: tomato and bacon pasta bake

Maybe doesn't sound the best, but I weighed stuff, so haven't gone over.

Also went for a walk this afternoon...slower than normal, turned to pick up a pencil this morning and put my back out again, why won't it stay where it's meant to? I feel very heavy when walking just now, it's quite a struggle. I'm hoping I'll feel better when I can ditch the clumpy waterproof shoes. Roll on spring (am noticing lots of bird song when I'm out now though, so must be getting closer :))

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Well at least I know to dampen my hair down for my next gym induction :rotfl:

I had a good hour at the gym this evening - felt I'd really achieved something at the end of it, and completely forgot how good that feels! According to the machines I burned 280 calories, but I know I ate back at least double that amount in carrot cake afterwards... A cake mix that's been in the cupboard for months, and will go off shortly. Once it's gone it's gone, and I won't be buying any more.

    Morning all.
Thankyou for the kind welcome yesterday.
I've downloaded the 'my fitness'app as suggested on the first page and wow! Didn't have a clue how many calories I was eating, no wonder I've gained weight. I plucked up courage to weigh myself this morning and it was bad! Oh well I now have a goal and something to focus my mind away from all the negative stuff in my life!

    Good morning!

    Welcome weeze210 (from another newbie)!

Ellie99, hope your back will be better soon!

Wanted to log my day yesterday:

    B: Porridge, milk, clear honey
    S: Banana
    L: Veggie Cottage Pie (Lentils)
D: Beef stir fry (mushroom, broccoli and carrots) + 2 oranges
E: 50 mins pilates (on my own, but doing what we do on my once a week class)

I am making good efforts to drink more water..although it's never enough!! :p It is almost automatic now, 2-3 sips every few minutes, but I am much better throughout the morning, then I forget/slack off in the afternoon!
How is everyone doing with water?

    Hi everyone

Franigan- I drink probably 5-7 large glasses a day of water, 1 in the morning with a disolvable vit C tablet in it, 2-3 glasses at work, 1 glass with my tea then 1-2 glasses in the evening but I very very rarely drink pop or juice of any kind. The water in the morning and evenings I tend to drink in one go but the 2-3 in the day tend to be sipped- its a habit the more you try the more you'll drink

I thought today wasnt too bad until ive just put it in MFP

B: 30g bran flakes, couple strawberries, 1 small banana, greek yogurt
    S: 1 wholemeal toast & butter, 1 pear drop
L: HM tuna and boiled egg salad, satsuma, 1 slice wholemeal bread & butter
    S: Apple
T: breaded frozen fish, HM wedges, 1/2 tin beans

There is far two many carbs I can see that now looking back! Ill keep trying

Also I think ive given up on Shredding in a morning im just cant get going in a morning to do it- i got up at half 6 this morning and did the ironing so maybe a few cals burnt there :rotfl:I think ill re-assess my workouts when (hopefully) i get a job with less hours! Until then im just going to try band be as active as I can when I can
