Time is precious. Family and good health (including mental health) are more important than expensive things. I would rather enjoy the whole year than spend a fortune on a 2 week holiday abroad. :)

Ah thanks for this! Your words above really ring true! The media spend so much time convincing us we NEED things that I think we lose sight of whats really important! I have spent time this weekend looking for a job with reduced hours so fingers crossed :)

    Today:
Brunch: 2 sausages, 2 hash browns oven baked, 2 rashers bacon pan fried , 2 poached eggs, 2 toast with butter 1/2 tin beans (my weekend breakfast are getting out of hand!)
    S: Pear drop
T: Roast chicken dinner with roast potatos and parsnips, angel delight :D

We took the dog for a short walk around the rainy park today about 45 mins.

May have a small snack later

Am going to try and get up early tomorrow and Shred before work :eek::eek:

Oh don't worry - I've had a major cull of the wardrobe today, I will have struck the fear of God into them - don't start fitting me and you're out! :rotfl::rotfl:

I agree with this wholeheartedly - I once read one of the lists they use to define poverty, and one of the items on the list was whether the family could afford a holiday abroad once a year. Family time is important, but you don't have to go away to get it. Good luck with the job hunt!

Had a gym induction today. It was meant to be with a woman, so I didn't think twice about rocking up with bed head, no body spray, slightly worn clothes. Turned out the woman was off sick, and I had a *coughhotcough* guy instead! Not that I'd have made any more effort for the induction if I'd have known it was a guy you understand....

Induction was quite useful - had a good natter about fitness levels (used to be good, haven't been to the gym for 6 months, and now at the very bottom again), had to tell him my weight  and we talked about diet as well - it felt quite nice to be able to say my diet is not bad at the moment, although I don't know if anyone else feels like when they say they have a good diet going, people look at them and think there's no way you have a healthy diet at that weight :o

Had a pleasing moment when I was getting ready. Decided to wear my "good" black trousers, which I hadn't worn for 3 months...they were too big! I have several other pairs saved from when I worked in an office and tried them all...all too big :)
I ended up searching through my "too small drawer" for the one other pair I own (a rather tight and pert pair which my ex was *particularly* fond of :rotfl:) and they fitted, no problem :T
Also my jacket zipped up much more easily than before.
Funnily though, although the clothes fit, I don't feel like I'm getting any slimmer yet, my brain is lagging behind. (I'm not slim, btw, still need to lose about 20 pounds).

I think a wardrobe try-on session is due soon.
Although I'm doing this for health reasons as well, I think being able to wear slim clothes is reason enough.

Will have to be very good today to try and balance yesterday's excesses.

Well done on getting into your smaller trousers, I've had a similar 'problem' with mine. I have a few pairs of black trousers that I've been trying to fit into, and most of them are now a bit too big. Also when we went out to dinner with MIL last week, OH found that all his best trousers (which he doesn't wear very often), are now too big and he didn't realise until he was getting ready to go out, so he had to be careful that they didn't fall down while we were out, lol! The last time he wore them, just over a year ago he struggled to do them up, so he was really pleased.

BTW I know the feeling of the brain not catching up, although I've lost almost 6 inches off my waist and people have commented about how slim I am, I still see a fat person when I look in the mirror. I still need to lose at least another stone, so hopefully by the time that's gone the brain will have caught up, lol!

That's what I need to do, why are tummy exercises so hard? I found a DVD in the £1 shop last week, which targets the 'muffin top' and had a session with it on Thursday. One part was quite difficult as it uses dance moves, and I have no co-ordination, lol, but I managed to do the whole session. My abs are still sore today, lol, but hopefully it will do the trick if I do it regularly!

Well I'm a bit late with my weigh in, but it doesn't matter too much as it's an STS, which I'm quite disappointed with as I've been really good this week food wise, although as usual the weekend has not been so good, lol!

For me and a lot of women, I think, the tummy is the hardest plce to lose it. The fat has to go before you see the muscles. When someone has worked out how to do it, let me know:rotfl:

It's unfair for women, if you want muscles on your tummy you really have to eat a body builders diet - high protein, low carb. If all you want is to have a flat tummy though, that's much easier! But hips tend to be the last place it goes from, and there aren't many exercises for hips - cardio is a safe bet.

Edit: I say easier, I just mean no body building... Wouldn't it be lovely if it was easy...

We believe you minicooper :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yesterday was a dieting disaster...I didn't eat much volume-wise, but made bad choices with high calorie stuff. Do you know 2 slices of melted cheese on toast is a lot more calories than a proper "knife and fork" meal? I thought I was being good by not having takeaway pizza, but really there wouldn't have been much difference in calories.
There was also some chocolate involved :o
I went to bed feeling yucky, my body really doesn't like me eating badly nowadays.

I'm off to count how many weeks it is until easter, in an effort to motivate myself again.

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Hi, I know it might be a bit late but can I join please?
I have just turned 40 and have had a hard few months. I am really trying to pull myself together. I took a long hard look at my self and have discovered that over the last few months I've put on lots of weight without even noticing as I was too focused on all the other 'stuff' that was going on! Now I don't know where to start. I don't have any spare cash to join a group, plus I live in the middle of nowhere so don't think there are any!
Can anyone give me some tips on how to start and where to start?
