Ooo I love chickpeas! You can make falafel, chickpea curry, put them through casseroles/soups, add them to chilli. I remember someone in my old SW group used to toss them in cumin and paprika, and then roast them for around half an hour. The problem with roasting them is that they become really moreish, and people used to eat a whole tin in one sitting, which obviously adds up to a lot of calories! Most people had to stop roasting them, because they ate too many of them.

I nipped to the continental supermarket today to get some spices. It was around 12.30, and I hadn't eaten anything yet, so I caved to product placement by the till and ended up buying a tray of baklava. I wish I hadn't, as I don't think it will make it beyond tonight! I do love baklava though, so at least I'll enjoy every mouthful.

Going to sound really sad here but never tried hummas or falafel before :o

But have just googled falafel and have all the ingredients so I'm going to try making those next weekend...sound delicious!

    Thank you!

Dear all please may I join you?
I joined a previous version of this thread in 2011 and I was doing great until I nearly fainted one day. Turned out I was pregnant so weight loss turned to weight gain. DS1 was a Summer baby so I did lots of walking/ pram pushing and also did Aquafit etc. Weight came off gradually and was slimmer than I had been in years 18 months later. Our second baby is now 4 months old and I am wearing clothes that fit me at 4/5 months pregnant. Been trying to be good and lost 4lb but have now regained it :(
So decided I need some like-minded folks to kick my bottom. Came on here and the chat about kicking your own made me chuckle :)
So current weight - 10 stone 7lbs. I would like to be 9 stone 3lbs- I was this weight 14 months ago so it is achievable.
Goal for the end of this thread- 10 stone.

    Been good today.
Breakfast-1/2 piece toast, lurpak lighter and jam, 2 weetabix, SS milk, a few raisins.
    Snack- pear, 3 strawberries.
Lunch- jacket potato. Filling: One small onion chopped and fried slowly in a teeny tiny drizzle of olive oil. Added 4 chopped cherry toms, tablespoon of sweetcorn, paprika, chilli powder and 1/3 tin baked beans. So tasty. Served with chopped cucumber.
    Snack: apple
Dinner: Fish filler in Batter. 1/2 tin mushy peas. 1/3 red pepper chopped. Seasoned with black pepper. No ketchup and no chips.
    Pudding- Activia Yogurt.

Good to see you back! Do you want to join in the challenge?

    Hello ladies and any gents

Can I join please ? I have tried SW but decided I don't want to spend the rest of my days trying to make "fake" versions of meals and instead would rather control portions, be sensible etc in cooking and food choices.
Would be happy to plod along and hopefully lose around half a stone a month

Of course you can join! If you want to join in the challenge/s just let me know :D

I decided to do this and try one new thing a month. Also need to try and 'like' salad items (dont like raw toms, cucumber or peppers)

This month I bought some chickpeas from Al*i but haven't a clue what to do with them though :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have 4 tins of chick peas in the cupboard. Apart from hummus, I don't know what to do with them Did think about chucking some in a beef casserole

Chickpea and Potato curry - totally YUM!

Falafel are nice, a bit like pakoras. I also meant to warn you - whenever I open a tin of chickpeas, I think it smells a bit like dog food. They don't taste like they smell!

Ooo I love falafel. Stayed in a Youth Hostel in Wales a few years back and had the best falafel I've ever tasted. They were big and fluffy and so tasty. Served on green salad leaves with warm pitta bread cut like soldiers. Ordered them in restaurants a few times since- never been as good. (btw the chef said they make them in batches and freeze) Visitors have to order their food for the following day so they would just get out as many as they need. Not sure whether they cook them first?
