-1 lbs for me
More than I can possibly expect. This last bit is really hard but please don't give up anyone. I can say hand on heart for me when I was overweight - the weight came off more easily and the closer I've been to an ideal weight the harder it has been.
I'm having an eat rubbish day to day - I know I shouldn't but a good friend passed away this week and I need a day off.0 -

officeguru I hear what you say about not beating ourselves up and I agree we should enjoy the extra food and move on.
The problem is when it is eaten in a compulsive, non-thinking way, just to fill a huge gap which is not hunger. This sort of eating cannot be enjoyed, it is a mechanical action and a pattern which is very difficult to break. It does not come from physical hunger but from something a lot deeper.
For any of you doing the 5:2 I have a question: how do you manage to cope with the hunger? I really want to try it out again but am worried I won't be able to function! Thank you.
Hi Caterina,
I don't want to give the wrong impression... I have been a failed dieter all my life and one day... Just after Christmas last year, I decided that I didn't want to be this way any more... so I decided to lose weight and keep it off so I devised a plan that suits me...
The way I managed stop myself 'automatically' eating.... ie.. managing to eat umpteen biscuits and only remembering eating one
I always sit down to whatever I eat... I place the tablecloth on the table and the placemat and the napkin (folded, of course) and then get my food.. No I am not Hyacinth Bouquet... I just forced myself to go to all that bother and I only do that for a meal... so I stopped eating biscuits etc as it was too much bother for a biscuit or a pkt of crisps... It also made me aware of how often I was putting food into my mouth... as the golden rule was, no table setting - nil by mouth... and it worked... and I still don't eat anything on the go... I find going without food easy.. as I have to go on 3 and 4 day total fasts to give my bowel a rest with my medical condition...
I think you might be trying too much too quickly.. what you want to do is to find out when in the day is your weakness and eat then... for example, on your 2-day part of your diet - if you find you get the munches at night... go without during the day, so that you have something to look forward to.. If you can't go that long.. why don't you plan a meal (containing all the calories you are allowed) and then split it between two sittings and then drink water during the rest of the time... Would that work with you ????
If found it interesting that naturally thin people don't have the same obsession with food... whereas food was very important to me.. someone visits, food was served.. etc etc.... so I had to break that...and most times I am successful but, as I said, it has taken me a lifetime to manage it... :A
I hope it helps...0 -
