  • Help someone send me some will power - I'm trying to stay focussed after two weeks of STS but it's tricky, I'm sitting here thinking that trying hard hasn't worked for two week so how bad would it be if I cracked open a bottle of beer and have some chocolate now! Trouble is if I do that and then have a drink with dinner then I'll be over my calories and will be teetering at the top of a very slippery slope.

Haven't been for a walk today either other than pottering around the charity shops this morning.

    Please send will power!

Piglet, not sure if I'm stepping out of line here but sometimes a small increase in calories kickstarts your metabolism. If you want a small beer and a small amount of chocolate, then go for it, but only if you are actually hungry. Life is too short to be too strict with yourself, but just aim for small portions... enjoy them , and then back on the straight & narrow for a few days.

If however you are not hungry but just bored, lonely, tired etc etc then don't eat, but try to understand why you want them.

    Good luck!

    LB xx
  • Hi LB, not out of line at all :D I've managed to stay away from the chocolate, but I did have a bottle of Stella Cidre and a gin and (slimline - God I hate that stuff) tonic, I've got almost enough calories left for another bottle of Cidre as well so I think that's coming next...

I'm fairly lucky that I don't really have any emotional hang ups about food, I don't eat/drink because I'm fed up, bored etc., I eat and drink because I like it - a lot!

I think I'm just disappointed that I've done really well over the last two weeks with what I've eaten/drunk (well since I started this four or so weeks ago) but I haven't seen a positive result for two weeks so it's hard to motivate myself to keep going.

I've had this before, when I did SW I struggled to lose 1lb a week whilst eating not very much at all and I found it really demoralising. My body just seems really good at holding onto fat!

I won't be much over my calories today and we've planned a big walk for tomorrow so not too bad, I'm going to keep going in the hope that Ragz is right and the missing calories might catch up with me soon!

Piglet, good luck with the willpower, would visualisation help...tropical beach, you looking slim and stunning in swimwear?

Sound idea jay :). Another one I like is to walk down a corridor (or in a shop, the street etc would do as well) and imagine a slimmer, smartly dressed you coming towards you. Then when you reach each other step into the other body. It makes me feel good, makes me think of how I'm standing/walking, makes me feel taller! (and at 5 feet nothing that's quite a challenge ;))

For anyone cutting down fats, as I am, I discovered today that malt loaf Soreen is very low in fat. I bought a pre-sliced loaf, had one slice and the rest is wrapped individually in the freezer. I must be getting used to not having stodge though because it didn't really grab me at all!
  • The difficulty I'm having with visualisation (which is usually a great idea), is that I've spent two weeks eating 1440 calories a day and having increased my exercise levels and lost nothing! So I'm starting to struggle to believe that I can lose any weight :(

    Hi Lippy, welcome. :)

Depending on your weight, that might be too few calories. Alternatively you might be one of the people who loses weight in blocks (larger amounts every few weeks), or you may be gaining muscle.

Another thought: are you drinking enough water/low calorie liquids? I struggle to lose weight if I don't drink enough. I mainly drink water and herb/fruit teas.

I didn't mean to lecture, sorry. :o I hope you see a huge loss at your next weigh in! :)

  • Thanks Jay, it's not a lecture, I'm really interested in other people's experience, I'm 5ft 3 and 73 3 (about 11.5 stone I think) so I think the calorie figure is about right (My fitness pal reckoned 1250 for 1lb a week weight loss but I'm not going that low!). This week I did notice that I was really hungry in between meal times so perhaps for me the week after TOTM I need more calories? Keeping up the water intake is a good idea as well, I'll keep an eye on that.

I'm hoping for block weight loss or I'm going back to the chocolate!

Morning all, it's really beautiful here, very warm so no heating on :)

B - was to be F&F but the milk was off, put me off eating anything :(
    D - pasta twists with mince/bolognese sauce
T - mashed banana in ff yogurt
Snacks - 1 chocolate suggestive, plus usual satsuma, grapes, melon, apple
Exercise - 1/2 hour done, more later (guess who's feeling good this morning?)

Hope it's sunny where you are, enjoy your Sunday :)

    morning all :)
just realised I forgot to log on yesterday :o wasn't a very good day as I went on a shopping trip with my best friend and we ended up going to pizza express for lunch as she had some vouchers. Still we were walking around the shops in Milton Keynes for over 3 hours before lunch and 45 minutes after, so I think I burnt up plenty of calories. I can feel it in my legs this morning. :o

    Today:
Breakfast: activia yoghurt, grapes, 1 slice WM toast and peanut butter
    Lunch: ham sandwich, apple
Dinner: jacket potato, HM beef and lentil chilli, dollop HF creme fraiche and 1oz grated rf cheese.

Exercise: nothing formal planned, but will be doing housework for most of the day, so keeping active :)

    Afternoon all.

I'm back, with a new target - I want to lose 4kg (9lbs, near enough) by Easter - that should be easily do-able if I can get my head right. (Which is where I've been going so wrong recently - I've been feeling really stressed and down and have slipped back into the habit of comfort eating and drinking. :()

Welcome back CCP Are you able to do anything about the stress? Feel free to vent here if it helps. Good luck with your new target.

Unfortunately food was from the best of a bad bunch of choices today
Went to a funeral some way away and the meal afterwards was in a restaurant. The gammon was the best choice and I was so cold the pud, the only hot one on the menu, was to try to warm me up.

Well done on making the best choice available. Sorry to hear you've had a loss. Hope the funeral was as good as these things can be. (((Hugs)))

Good Morning all and Happy Corporate love day. :rotfl::rotfl:

Still in lots of pain with this foot so no gym this week. Anyone any suggestions for exercise I can do that doesn't involve using my feet! xx

Have you tried doing upper body stuff - perhaps some weights - and gentle stretches? With all the Olympics stuff around are there any blogs from the Paralympic athletes that mention how they train? If you find anything please post - I'll be very restricted after my op next week so I'm looking for ideas too.

Just weighed myself and can report 1lb loss although I think that just brings me back to where I started. Am in hospital for a few days next week and expect I won't be able to eat for some of the time - hoping for some weight loss as a silver lining :rotfl::rotfl:

Well done on all your efforts everyone. Reading all your posts is very inspiring. I will lurk from hospital but don't think I can post from my phone.

    Have a good week.

Thanks for your concern, Rosetta. Sadly I seem to be stuck with the stress for the time being as my manager isn't being remotely helpful - the only vaguely positive side is that stress usually makes me lose my appetite so weightloss should be a bit easier than normal.

    Today goes / has gone:

Brunch - 3 slices HM spelt bread with butter and peanut butter; banana
Dinner - steak stew topped with puff pastry, with mixed mashed roots; small portion of ice cream

Not a fantastically healthy day, I know, but it can't hurt occasionally! ;)
Back after a very long break!
