  • DH's birthday today but resisted all temptation to overindulge luckily

    B wholemeal toast with butter
L HM soup and one piece dry wholemeal bread
T beans on toast with a bit of cheese (3 pieces of toast with a little butter)

I use a 400g brown loaf so the slices are quite small:o
Have to say I was really hungry before tea and if it hadn't been something really quick and easy I might have had to snack, but it was ready in no time and was really satisfying. Will have some fruit later

    Hi all

    Had a good day today

    B 2 multigrain crispbreads
L HM Yellow Split Pea and Rice soup
T LO chicken, boiled new potatoes & broccoli

feeling pretty stuffed now so no supper tonight
  • Stepped on the scales this morning, and I swear they're broken, I don't think it's feasible I've lost 7lbs in 9 days? Well at the very least I hope it's still off this Friday! Though doubtful, as I started a cookery course tonight which involved deep fat frying (what we were frying was very healthy though!)

savesummore a few crackers with a little bit of cheese seemed to help me last night, and a big glass of water.

To say that I have overeaten today would be understating the case....started off well enough with beetroot, an egg salad sandwich, tea. Fell off the wagon when I had the 2
After8s, followed quite quickly by the 10 Quality Street; dinner was roast beef, lotsof cabbage, mash and green beans....followed by chocolate sponge pudding with fruit yoghurt.

Not sure what it is that makes me run amok like this, makes me feel like a complete idiot....which makes me want to eat more.

    Hi everyone,

Seem to be more in control of my eating at the minute and have lost most of my Christmas weight.

    Been reading this

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fat-Chance-bitter-truth-about-ebook/dp/B00A626UYW/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1389775406&sr=1-1&keywords=Fat+Chance%3A+The+bitter+truth+about+sugar

It is very interesting, if a bit science heavy for my unscientific brain. Goes into great detail about what unhealthy eating actually does to your body on a biological level. It is a bit depressing in that it sort of concludes that there is little we can do about the obesity crisis unless the government begin to legislate about what is put in our food.

Some suggestions from the book are -

    - Only eat real food whenever possible, limit processed food to once a week.

    - When baking, cut the sugar in the recipe by 1/3.

    - Don't drink your sugar. This includes fruit juices and smoothies which he says are worse for our bodies than coke. Also diet drinks have the same effect on the body, so avoid them when possible.

    - Eating lots of fibre helps to reduce the effects of sugar on your body, so eat fruit whole, include lots of pulses, beans, whole foods in your diet.

    - Create a non toxic food environment at home- ie, don't have processed food in the house. If it is there, he says, our addiction will make us eat it. (Totally agree with this)

-Avoid fat and sugar eaten together - ie, in all of those yummy cakes, biscuits, chocolate. This, he says, causes fatty liver and metabolic syndrome. This is another reason for avoiding processed foods as sugar is added to most things.

Think that about sums it up - basically back to basics, healthy eating.

    Hi guys.

Just checking in. Still have my cold so not doing any cardio this week, but went to Body Balance last night, which is really more for my mental health! Felt nicely sore and tired from it last night so was glad I went! Only thing was, I had 2 jammie wagon wheels after dinner instead of 1 because I felt quite ravenous after the gym!

Had stew last night for dinner which I have never made before, but OH requested it, so I asked my mum how to make it. It was just potatoes, carrots, onion and steak pieces all stewed together with a little gravy powder...that doesn't sound too bad for you does it?! The only thing was, we had sliced Belfast Bap with a good bit of butter with it, but it was DELICIOUS!! So I don't regret it one bit! I do regret the second jammy wagon wheel though! :o

Hoping for a sts on Friday because although I have not been exercising much, I am still off the crisps and eating relatively well! Fingers crossed!!
