    So today I'm determined to eat sensibly, and get back into my good habits. The only xmas stuff left are DS1s chocs, which I can't eat because they're not mine, and a lot of shortbread, which doesn't tempt me at all, (and I think DS2s puppy may have licked it...left alone for 2 minutes, and she had it off the worktop and the tin open on the floor!)

  • Surely I've burnt calories laughing at Vanquis offering me a card with 5% higher Apr than my (perfectly run) aqua card. No chance lol (the ones in my Sig are dhs btw).

    Going to have to cut down on shopping again, dh new job starts a weekearlier but paid in arrears so I'll lose my jsa but not have his part month wages for a further 3 wks. Desperate to stay off credit card spending! Unfortunately, being such a fussy eater makes it harder, also dieting doesn't help either. So far I have:
    Bulk out spag bol with mushroom and onion, or replace mince with cooking bacon as cheaper
    No more breakfast biscuits!
    Any more ideas?

    I add carrotts to mine to bulk out a bit. I'd stay with mince, healthier than the bacon. Have you tried turkey mince? It's OK for a chilli.
    Cottage Pie, throw in lentils, I also add tin baked beans.:)

  • I only buy the cheapest value fresh mince from the blue supermarket so not very healthy anyhow. Currently spending £60 a week for 2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 German shepherd and 3 cats, but I must be able to get that lower.

    I'll have you know we have very strong immune systems in this house, a bit of puppy spit won't do us any harm :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
    (and I don't bother with shortbread, so that's even better :D)

    I was starving this afternoon as well...I'd just shopped in aldi, and there wasn't a single thing to nibble in the car, it was all "proper food" :)

    Planning on chicken and lf chips tonight, sounds bad, but not had much today, so should be okay.

    Dont forget jacket potatoes, do you like beans? We found a great Jamie Oliver recipe for cowboy beans. Great on a jacket

  • I like jacket potatoes, dh tolerates them. I bought a 2.5kg bag for £1.12 this week and for once I've successfully used them up. I'm not a fan of beans but I ought to give them another go really. My food issues go back to early childhood, it's a pain in the bum tbh.

    Hello

    Not had chance to read posts today, hope all are ok.

    Not a brilliant day here, heard some news that has troubled me. When I am unsettled I turn to food, and a very nice gift box of posh truffles that I had hidden at the back of the pantry have been opened. i have had 6. The worst thing is that i have resealed the box and put back in the same place.

    Oh well, new day tomorrow.

    Yesterday my menu was as follows:

    B.....grilled rasher, sausage, black & white pudding, fried egg, 1 sl bread, tea, no milk or sugar

    Sn.....3 slices fresh pineapple

    D....4 ozs steak, steamed medium potato, small pat butter, peas and green beans.

    Lots water.

    Today has been slightly different:

    B....fruit scone with butter and raspberry jam, 2 mugs tea;

    Lunch.......bowl homemade vegetable soup, half tin white crab meat;

    Snacks....6 quality street, quickly followed by slice Christmas pudding and huge dollop of ice cream courtesy of OH, who has just gone to make tea...God knows what will come with it!

    Thakfully, I just got the tea....did have the last 2 slices of pineapple
