Interesting article about the brown and white rice. I wonder where basmati rice lies?
I have done the South Beach Diet before which is about stabilising your blood sugar so you don't get energy spikes and cravings; in phase 2 you can have carbs but they need to be unrefined. Brown rice or basmati are allowed so I guess a switch from white rice to basmati would be beneficial.
We have switched as OH doesn't like brown rice whereas I do so basmati is a compromise. HTH.0 -
and of course you can get brown Basmati rice as wellMust use my stash up!0

B - 2 slices of Turkey bacon ,beans , mushrooms scrambled eggs and 2 slices of toast NO BUTTER and a large glass of orange juice .
I have just made some low cal brownies and about to make coconut fingers .
Does anyone know if you change auger for sweetner is it the same weight s eg 8oz sugar then I use 8oz of sweetner seems loads as very lightI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -

I agree I use a smaller than normal sized plate for dinner that is a wee bit bigger than a side plate, but a good third smaller than a normal sized dinner plate. When you put your meal on it and you've eaten it your brain is fooled into feeling fuller I think:j
Well thats my theory and it works for me:D
This morning its back to normality again
B : Bran cereal and a banana (this fills me up until lunch at around 1.00)
L: salad of grated cheese, carrot and watercress with tomato, cucumber and sliced beetroot.Plain yoghurt with some chopped graped mixed up in itgoing to DDs so will probably be Roast Lamb, three veg, one potato
I don't like gravy much, so no gravy, and we don't eat a pudding anymore with our Sunday dinner. DD has done well and stuck to her eating plan and has lost 2 stone since our holidays in August bless her.
Not much in the way of exercise as the weather is a bit grotty and I see no point in getting cold and wet.But I have vacuumed around this morning and stripped and changed the bed and now amd toiling at getting shot of the clutter in my computer room.
Well done chums on starting the New Year on a positive note, we will all get there eventually.Roll on the spring when we can all wear smaller clothes;)0 -

Impressed with all of you who are using smaller plates
I don't think I could fit all my meal on a smaller plate! but then I do like a big pile of veggies with a lot of meals, so that's my excuse...and my plates are dinner plates from the late 70s, not the huge ones you can buy nowadays.
and well done JackieO's DD,a real family effort :T :T

That doesn't sound right Jem132, I wouldn't risk it and maybe waste your baking. Are there any instructions on the sweetener packet?
Can it be used for baking at all?

I am new to 'posting' but certainly not new to the MSE forum. Hello to all! I would like to join the weightloss challenge if at all possible. I turned 40 last April and vowed I would lose the weight this year and haven't. I am nearing 41 and need a kick to get my butt in gear. I would like to try and lose 16lbs in the 3 month challenge. I will weigh myself first thing tomorrow morning.
Many thanks and Goodluck to all! 0 -
