I feel positively :A, as I have just eaten a bowl of prunes rather than a cheese sarnie for a late brekker!

Now THAT'S commitment to the cause!
I occasionally put a few prunes in my salad (for their well known benefits, you know :)) and I can't say I like them at all.

Thanks for the reminder KW, I like prunes but never seem to remember to buy them. Since taking ferrous sulphate I need include them in my diet!
Son's hamper had shortbread and panetone which are both in the larder and will prob remain there til I have visitors, but I daren't make mince pies ellie, my resolve isn't that strong! I don't think you can go wrong with sc casseroles, it's on for a long time so the flavours have time to blend and the meat to tenderise. Look forward to hearing how much you enjoyed it :)

Not so sunny now but still warm'ish, or is it that I've just cleared the leaves and rinsed the dustbins (mine and neighbours) now they've been emptied? Just the front to weed now then I can sit down :)
  • Thanks JackieO, your words were ringing in my head as I walked through m&s foodhall pausing in the biscuits and chocolates aisle – and yes I did manage to refuse and only came out with the bread and pate that I went in for……:A - Were you Jiminy Cricket in a former life??

    Yesterday

    L – Lentil Soup, water biscs x 2, Pear
D – Chicken Fricassee type thingy, boiled rice, sweetcorn

L – Pate, salad, slice of toast. Pear
    D – Pea & lemon risotto

Last of my Christmas presents are bought :j – I just need to go find the paper & tags I bought in the January sales and stashed away somewhere safe
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

ellie99 you are well on the way to salvation and a skinnier bod honey, as you are already thinking about the bigger picture and the thinner self Brilliant that you resisted temptation. The supermarkets are out to get your cash this month and I guarantee next month they will be trying to flog you slimming stuff to get rid of what you ate over Christmas :):) Its called marketing, and we are going to resist it aren't we :):):)
sparrer Your dress sounds gorgeous and I do hope you will soon be able to slip into it and feel as fabulous as before.
I have just got home from helping DD get some odds and ends for the boys for Christmas and lying on the mat was the letter from my Dr. giving me my appointment to see him again on 19th March 2014 for the pre-op. check up so I'm even more motivated now as I am planning to buy some nice clothes to wear when I've had my op. and start to look more like my old self again.
Plus I saw my diet nurse today and she told me I have a BMI of 39 now which is really the best present I could have My goal for March is a BMI of 36 which is achievable :):):)
Well done to all of you for not giving in and thinking of your long-term goals I wish there were a botton I could press to give you all a pat on the back.
    Cheers everyone onwards and upwards

No JackieO we will not succumb to SM marketing...we don't need "dieting" products any more, we can do this eating normal food :)

When I go shopping from now on, I'm going to imagine you're watching and whispering in my ear that I know how to make the right choices :rotfl:

My slow cooker beef tastes fine (much better than my first attempt of soup!) but didn't eat it tonight...DS1 text to say he'd been invited out for tea, he thought he'd given me plenty of notice, but as he said, you can't beat a slow cooker, it's been on since breakfast :)
    So that's tomorrow night sorted.

I had out of date ham and coleslaw to use up, so had a salad and microwave chips instead...determined not to waste any food :)
    So a good dieting day.

I had been given a packet of fudge, which I'd started to nibble, so I gave them away to someone happy to eat them...seems harder to resist when they're a gift.

I have so many aims for next spring, from the frivolous...look GOOD in jeans, no muffin top...to the serious...being fitter, more stamina, and just generally healthier inside. Just need to keep reminding myself...

  • It has been such a stressful few weeks, this challenge seems to have fallen by the way-side for me. I've been flat out at work, writing a massive essay in my free time and just about managing to check in, but there has been no time to think about exercise, food or anything much diet related. I doubt I've lost very much - the December is always full of meals here, drinks there, and shortly I'll be going to my parents for an extended holiday.

On the plus side, while the calorie content has gone up, the volume has gone down - I've been too busy to eat, some of the time! Must step on scales this week and face the music!
  • Dear All

So sorry that I haven't been on the forum but my dear ones are going to hell in a handcart... My mother-in-law is now in respite care for a week and my father-in-law is in a locked ward in the hospital 45 miles away.. He's being assessed. He went and attacked one of the carers so we said that it wasn't safe for my mother-in-law to stay at home with him as both of them are unstable.. So at least we don't have to worry about them over Christmas.. They are being looked after, fed and washed... so in a way, it's a blessing... Although, if they are deemed as still having capacity, we'll be back to square one... like we have for the last 2 years.

Anyway, on a good note... I have been helping my son with his website and he wants me to help him with lots of other things so that will keep me busy and stop me from fretting...

So I wish you all a Merry Christmas and, hopefully, I'll be able to join you all again in the near future... I would say definitely for the New Year, but I'll wait and see what is happening with the loved ones as we have been lurching from one crisis to the next... but I think with him hitting the carer, maybe the social workers will listen to us now...

Take care, I'll be thinking of you all

    xx

Hi all (are we still an "all" or are there just a few of us still plodding along? :))

I've had another good day diet-wise...granola/muesli, then toast, and stew and potatoes for tea, with a piece of puff pastry, which was accounted for with all the walking I've done today.

Work is very busy right now, and I work through lunch time, so have to eat something very early, or very late. Today I had toast at 11.15, and when I got back in at about 3pm, I was hungry...and DS1 was making himself bacon butties! And I brought him up right, so of course he offered to make me some too :rotfl:
I was very strong willed, and resisted, and saved myself for the treat of puff pastry mmm.

Now having a cuppa after a walk into town to get a bit of shopping when the shops were quiet, think I only need to get fresh veg next week, so all organized...although my kitchen isn't, it's a right mess :o

  • ellie99 I'm behind you when you reach for the biscuits :):)Well done with all of your walking, its not the best of weathers at the moment so any you can do is a bonus Keep up the good work honey

officeguru I'm sorry that you are having such a bad time of it at the moment I do hope you can get it sorted out.It must be so worrying for you and the family.I do wish you a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and worry-free New Year.We are all here if you need a rant honey
Well I did very well all day until dinnertime when I was at DDs and her OH brought in a KFC as a treat for the boys and DD so she didn't have to cook tonight It was her birthday today so she had the night off from cooking and I washed up for her :):) but I was good and stripped the coating off and only had a few chips so not too bad I suppose.
Back on the wagon tomorrow :):)
    Cheers chums
