  • Hi, I haven't read the whole thread from start to finish but I would like to join in please. I don't have much to lose and also have a weekend away at the end of the month but rather than put it off until after xmas I thought I would make a start on improving my diet. I am a comfort/stress eater and also a procrastinater so part of my self improvement plan will include getting off my backside and doing the things that I know I should do but cant be bothered!
I would like to lose 5lbs by xmas which I think is realistic as I have alot of social events coming up. After xmas my goal will then be getting the remaining 5lb off which will take me to 9st.

Good luck to everyone this week.

Hi folks, sorry I’ve been missing for a bit. Being Ms Independent I ploughed on solo moving heavy/large furniture last week in prep of new carpet being laid and knackered my elbows – so haven’t been able to do very much even using the computer mouse aggravates it.

Sounds like the sort of thing I'd do, despite having recurring back problems, lol! Hope you feel better soon.

Well another STS for me this week! I must admit I haven't done much exercise this week, and I went over my calorie goal on 3 days, but I was under on the other days, so I hoped to lose at least a pound, but no such luck, lol!

Good to be back from Malta, after a lovely but very busy convention/holiday. Don't like the cold though, amazing how quickly we (I) become acclimatised to heat but not cold :(

Surprisingly, after taking tea every afternoon in the best cake shop on the island, I'm very happy to report an STS this week!

Am rethinking my diet after being diag with anaemia so doing a shop in the morning after local Remembrance Day service. I tried ferrous sulphate for a couple of days - never, ever again! I felt sick, was bloated to about 7 1/2 months  and the other side effects were horrible. So going to try by eating the right foods.

Will read through the posts when I have a mo, meantime hope all is well

    Sweet dreams :)

Been out for a walk this morning and I'm sort of feeling a bit slimmer :)...which is weird as I had family round for a meal last night and I had dessert, AND one of the chocolate buns I'd made.

I've been losing weight since the new year (although there were months when I stayed the same) and I've lost a stone and a half...but I'm STILL wearing the same 3 pairs of jeans...admittedly back in January they were very tight and I could hardly do the button up, and now they're quite loose...but I really want to go down a size!

The "test" jeans now zip up but are too tight, another half stone might do it. I think those jeans are the reason I'm keeping at this :rotfl:

On the plus side, for the first time in years, I put on a pair of leggings this morning (purely for an extra layer under my jeans now that I'm an oldie who feels the cold...or should that be an oldie who doesn't want to put the heating on now it's so expensive?) and I didn't look as bad as I was expecting to! Was expecting to look like a lumpy bag of onions, but it wasn't too bad. I can't believe I used to go out in public like that though...that was not a good fashion look for anyone with even a few extra pounds :rotfl:

Wish me luck with my evening meal...my first attempt in a slow cooker. I only like recipes that are easy and don't have too many ingredients, so I'm starting simple with my own version of potato and leek and veg soup. I hope it turns out okay.

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

    Evenin' all :)

Did a shop in Mr A for a lot of the foods recommended for anaemia, not much different to my usual diet but have rid the cupboards of a few white flour goods, pasta etc. I wonder if the food collections take opened packets, I have a 5kg bag of white rice with only a little taken from it, seems a terrible waste to chuck it.

B - spicy fruity porridge with stewed apple
D - child portion roast beef dinner, left the potatoes and half the Yorkie. Shared a 'rocky road' pudding with two friends, far too sweet for me so only had a few spoonsful
Supper - not sure yet, still full from the late lunch
    S - 2 wholewheat biscuits, satsuma.
E - Not done any today I'm 'fraid, unless you count shivering!

    Have a good evening :)

    Evening all :D
I happy to report a weekend of not completely blowing it :T:T
Despite making a 6 dish tapas meal last night, I managed to not over indulge too badly and I avoided sweets today when everyone else was having them. :T

    Today has been,
    Porridge with banana and sultanas.
    Turkey sandwich
4 crackers & veg sticks with h&m yogurt dip
2 egg frittata with leeks, mushrooms, LO green bean tapas and a sprinkle of cheese

Had a good walk and went to the. Gym yesterday.

    Hope you're enjoying your weekend

  • I thought I would try to wean myself off sugary things, rather than just going cold turkey. It seemed like an easier way to go, so I bought a couple of sweet things at the supermarket yesterday. Have already finished one off (it was meant to last 4 days), so this has maybe not been the best idea. On the plus side, it means I will have no unhealthy things in the house by around Wednesday.

I did make a rather healthy home-made fried rice for dinner, made 5 portions from 1 large chicken breast, 2 rashers of bacon, and lots and lots of veggies.
