I so badly need to declutter and this thread is excellent inspiration.
Am reading from the beginning....it may take me a while to catch up! But am also starting to tidy/declutter as I go.

I want the house to be a nice home, not a storage place as it is right now!
    January Challenge 100/100

This is exactly how I feel. We had to rent for just over a year before buying this house and it was far too small for us and was literally just a storage place. I didn't want that when we when we moved here (2 years ago in Feb) but it started off the same, and I've spent the last year battling it, and I think we're finally turning the corner and getting ourselves sorted!

Recycling bin emptied yesterday (and as this week they are still taking Xmas recycling we put out 2 charity bags full next to the bin), and almost completely filled again straight away!

A lovely lady came and bought 5 jigsaws and about 12 books this morning (via facebook local selling page) so the kids now have some pennies to share out and we have some more space :)

Not done a lot the last 3 days as DD2 has been off Nursery with tonsilitis, and DD1 was off school yesterday too with a temp etc. Come Friday the house won't know what's hit it when I'm back in decluttering action!! :D

  • Can I join in please? I recently moved to a new, smaller house and now value space more than possessions. I had previously found it almost impossible to de-clutter and get rid of thngs. I now do it anyway even though it gives me pangs.
A milestone was reached yesterday when I emptied all my music cds into a bag and gave them away on Freecycle without even stopping to look at what I was getting rid of.
I have an IPod, can only play cds on my puter and haven't listened to them for maybe 2 years. I ws a bit of a Yay! moment for me.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Am pig sick :(. Have spent the whole afternoon and evening filing and have found £227 clubcard vouchers which are expired. That's over £600 worth :(. I'm so gutted :(.
I will ring them tomorrow and see if there are any which can be added back on to my account but I doubt there are really :(. That's so much money to waste :(.

Oh well, the filing is done now thank goodness. About 5 carrier bags full of paper chucked. Oh and did I mention, about £600's worth of clubcard vouchers wasted :( Well, actually 1 carrier to recycling, the rest was confidential so I lit the fire and just kept feeding it whilst we were filing. Will need to clean the grate tomorrow.

Heck!!! I hadnt realised they had expiry dates on - I'd better hunt mine out and check theyre still in date! I'd just been saving them up for a good offer.

Today we have been to the tip and got rid of a massive chair from our bedroom. The filing cabinet which has been in our hallway for well over a year and was in our bedroom for the previous 5 years.
Only ins were some food bits from MiL and some birthday cards for DH. Also a sympathy card for a friend which will be out this afternoon. Oh and some Christmas gifts or birthday gifts to put in the drawer for the coming year.
