Was too ill to go out on Sunday so nothing left the house in the end - will have to try and take it out next weekend.
I did however manage to list 24 things on ebay (and 1 more last night). 1 has a bit on so far and most have a watcher at least so hopefully next week I'll be doing some decluttering of things and packaging materials.
Work's really stressful at the moment (just come on here for a quick break and catch up ) so last night got home late and evening was a bit of a right off but tonight I'm going to try and start sorting my clothes out and work out what's going.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

The rest of the books to Oxfam this afternoon (about 30)
]ust signed up and am now running round like a loon trying to find books to add, as I tend to have more non-fic than fiction. Went in one cupboard that I thought had books in only to find videos in there that had come out of another cupboard when making it into a toy storage. Most of the vids can come out and go to the local Oxfam which are happy still to accept videos.:jTheir=belonging to them, There=over there

Can I join? I decluttered before I gave birth to my son and since then he's taken over! :rotfl: no word of a lie, I can see his bouncer, his jumperoo, a load of his toys,, packs of nappies etc, his pram, his high chair and I'm sat on my sofa!! He's only little how did he get so much stuff :rotfl:
Weren't you warned about this? The size of the items babies/children need is inversely proportional to the size they are! I know what you mean about taking over. Pre-children I had my own bookshelves, now my books are in boxes in the loft and the bookshelves contain their books. My OH keeps his books in a stack in the bottom of his wardrobe!:rotfl:Their=belonging to them, There=over there

Hi am i able to join as well, didnt know there was a thread about decluttering, started on my bedroom yesterday and i think i spent a lot of the time shaking my head and muttering cant believe there is so much stuff.I want to get somewhere near the running machine and over winter things have managed to creep up and hide behind it. :rotfl:
i too believe in the try and do 1 thing a day and then its not so much to tackle in one go. i did a load of things yesterday and have organised all my stuff to sell on ebay into boxes, so the plan is to try and put 1 box a week onto ebay and see how i go from there. Hopefully i can keep to that.mummysaver38 wrote: »greengoblin wrote: »37 things to Zapper.co.uk (£40 woooo) All those are non-fic though - collection on monday

Can i ask quickly what is zapper.co.uk, i mainly have fiction and my oh has non fiction, would it be worth it do you think?0 -
Jar of chillis has been put out into the garden to rot because I can't actually get the darn things out of the bottle. I've left the lid off so hope they go quickly enough for me to be able to pour them into the recycling bin *barf*.
I have decluttered an oven shelf from the patio back into the oven. It's been sitting there since Novemberin a bag of oven pride.

Read alot of last years thread, looking to join in this year. This year is the year we are hoping to start trying for our first baby so its the year we get properly organised, with all debts repaid and a tidy clutter free home - ready for the little one to clutter up! :rotfl:
So have gone through my side of the wardrobe and coaxed hubby into clearing out part of his. He insists there is no more to go but as he cannot fit all of his clothing in I beg to differ!
Might do all his ironing tonight and make him try and put it away to prove my point.....
So our big areas to tackle are....
Loft (full of stuff, old boxes and old cushions and about 10 old pillows - why when there is only one bed in the house?!)
Cupboard in lounge (huge enough to store to 2 dining room chairs so not a small job!)
Cupboard by front door
Shed
Front bedroom (hopefully future nursery)
Think this weekends job will be the cupboard in the lounge.
Have 2 bags of charity shop stuff by the front door already and 2 bags of rags and a bag of broken hangers in the car, not a bad start!
A tip that I read that helped me last year:
On your coat hooks by the front door collect together all scarves, hat gloves etc and put in a bag to hang on one of the hooks. Now all kept together and easily locatable. Made a massive difference here!
For those of you clearing out old jewellery the Alzheimers Society is one charity that would be very grateful - even if its broken or one earring...

Each January I sort out my craft room and say - I am never getting it in a mess again! Well of course I do or have been - 2012 is going to be the year I learn - don't get messy then you won't have to sort! My craft room houses my computer desk plus four sewing machines - yes I do need all four - 1 - is my overlocker 2 - my industrial machine - do a lot on that 3 - my embroidery machine 4 - my cheap machine for stitching on card - (make cards as well) and also it is portable - take it when I visit family - they want curtains made/repairs/alterations done - makes me feel - I pay for my keep.
Then I have so much fabric/yarn/threads/beads/haberdashery/card making stuff - I have been building up my stash for years! The only way I can sort my room is by getting loads of stuff out to make room to sort/tidy.
My craft room was the biggest bedroom in the house - worked my way up from smallest bedroom! So I empty out the room into our bedroom - we then have to sleep downstairs - I have the sofa and Mr F has a chair bed!
So I start today - been putting it off this year - let you know how I get on.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
