I'm back! Just a respite, but I've spent almost an hour. I have a box for "I don't know what I'm going to do with this yet" which is so helpful as reduces the panic; quite a few things in there. I also have realised that I have loads of storage boxes...that are empty! Moral of this for me is, it's pointless having storage boxes if you can't fill them! So lots going to CS and for car booting. Found a brand new duvet cover unwrapped that I had forgotten I had! Thanks again to mummysaver38 for helping me acknowledge and recognise the panicky feelings.

Also thanks to Cats for her suggestions too.

    Atta Girl!

I would recommend to all getting hold of a book called "No more clutter: how to clear your space and free your life" by Sue Kay. She is a psychologist, director of the No More Clutter organisation and founder of the National Association of Declutters and Organisers.
Alongside decluttering tips there is a whole chapter on the psychology of hoarding which I could identify with and which helped me greatly in getting past the emotional block.

A few more thing to list following sorting out the bathroom cabinet:

    92. Very out of date toiletries
    93. Hair dye from when DH grew a moustache (which I hated with a vengeance ) and then dyed black for Movember which was a charity thing .... his whole team did this and they looked like a right load of idiots!! I was soooo glad when he shaved his moustache off on 1st December :)

I use margarine / butter tubs to freeze single portions of soup or leftovers - they stack really well in the freezer.

I use the plastic contaners from the chinese :D They're see-through so its easy to know what's inside.

Great idea! might nick that one ;)

I have the empty boxes syndrome too!! :o

Does anyone have any suggestions how to get safely rid of kitchen knives that I dont want? I have a collection, but always seem to use my favourites (OH thinks I'm mad for having favourite knives!) as they cut better, so it seems pointless having 2 or 3 in there that never get used.

    Ditch 100 in January challenge!

I have put another two books in the charity shop bag. I also went through a pile of old mags. And I have just sold 10 DVDs to MusicMagpie for £16 - woooo! So, that takes me up to 23 things decluttered.

I think I may be able to count a few things tomorrow, recycling and shredding stuff and CS. Even if it's just my personal count.

Does anyone have the 'pictures but not enough walls syndrome?' :o

I get secondhand pictures or very cheap canvases...and have loads. Agh, I could take pictures of them like the toy dinner set, so it won't be so hard to pass them on.

I've just tried to use zapper and it won't even recognize my barcodes :(.
I somehow got myself signed up to a bookclub a few years ago and have all of these books which are taking up valuable space and I want them gone. I'm never going to read them again but it would be nice to get some pennies for them. The trouble is, they don't appear to be very sellable.
Ah well, onwards I go :)

    13/100 Well it's a start!

DH claims to be the tidy one but I just found 2 pairs of shoes under the bed that he DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD:rotfl:
