So, this morning when I was trying to get the butter dish out of the cupboard, I got rid of; 6 GU pudding dishes pots (thanks to the PP who made me look at these in a new light :)), a set of ice lolly moulds which I never use because they don't stand up in the freezer, a water bottle with a cooler in it and a broken seal and a tupperware tub about 1l size which I never use.
I've decluttered a bare root rose from the patio and planted it (I will go and put the rubbish in the bin in a tick), 2 bags of compost (massive ones) emptied onto the front garden.
I am now filthy so I need to go and get changed. Note to self; put on mucky clothes for gardening!
I've emptied out the car of tat and binned it and picked up the rubbish from the front garden.
Now need to go and update the calendar for the year ahead.

  • Good work kaz!
  • Has anyone got experience of using zapper.co.uk to sell things? 3 bookshops didn't want my books and I thought I'd give this a go.

The charity shop people have just been to collect my pile of bags. I realised I kept looking out of the window to check whether they'd been yet, because I was DREADING the possibility that they might not collect and I would have to bring all my stuff back in again! Hopefully my piles of stuff have gone off to find a happy new home and make some money for the charity in the process.

Today I've cleared out the junk basket that sits on our kitchen shelf and collects odd things like buttons, rubbers, screws etc. A pile of stuff in the bin, a few things put into their places elsewhere in the house and the rest of it sorted neatly and put into a new and smarter basket. It's one of the first things you see when you come in to the house so I think having it look neater will make a perceptible difference. I've also cut up all our christmas cards to make gift tags for next year and have recycled the remaining bits (and the naff cards :) ).

I am going into my bedroom...I may be some time...:o:eek:

cats, I am going to do what you have done, just decide to put stuff in boxes and go from there; a lot less stressful as I feel panicky already!
  • I've done so well this morning I've b****red up my hip!
I've cleared the living room of all the toys and put them back where they belong - kids'll never find them there:rotfl:
Thrown out a box of paint pens (either couldn't use, or could use far too well!), a bead set (their topic, my craft - was never going to work), shaped boxes for decorating (drawn on and ruined), 5 Xmas colouring books, and 3 black bags of assorted carp. Done so well I had to trample the bin twice to get everything in!
New total is 30/100 - if I could decide where to get rid of my old cross stitch magazines it'd be much higher!

  • Hi

Just thought I would pop in and thank everyone one here. You have been and are continuing to be so inspirational. I have been following you all without posting since you started this thread and have been having a fantastic clearout and tidy up.

Our house tidy but not organised and this is what I am aiming for. This does mean that as I am going through things I am finding things I didn't even know I had and it is great to be chucking things out. I want to have everything in boxes and labelled so I know where everything is and it all looks organised.

    So far I have:

Got OH to put up a shelf under the sink in the kitchen - doubling the storage space so things are no longer piled on top of everythings.

condensed two bookcases, one games unit and three bookshelves into one bookcase and three bookshelves.

Found storage space for the scalectrix in the alcove instead of up against a wall in the dining room!

Packed away into pretty storage boxes things that I want to keep but don't need very often.

partially cleared out a unit in the lounge which we are planning on getting rid of and installing shelves floor to ceiling in the alcove creating more storage space.

Cleared out a wooden chest in our bedroom, thinned out all bedding and stored these in vacuum sacks. So what did take up the space in the wooden chest and two huge bed drawers now only takes up the space of the wooden chest.

I have a big storage problem in our bedroom and this is the catalyst to my decluttering.

Thanks again - I almost can't wait to get home from work to continue.

    Can I join please?

We are hoping to move this year but only if we can de-clutter and sort out our current house.
If you can think it........it will happen
