  • Congrats to Sarah and welcome to fellow newbies :)

Have stalled slightly with decluttering as have not really been at home at the weekends but am hoping to use this Saturday constructively.

Boots pedicure set - sold on ebay, being posted tomorrow
Magazine rack - semi emptied. I have about 3 newspaper souvenir magazines of Kate and Wills' wedding. Do I really need to keep them?
4 CS bags on landing hopefully being taken to CS on Sunday. Filled with variety of clothes, books and household items. Must remember to count the books as they will go towards my 50 out by the end of the year.

Unfortunately went to Costco with my mum on Friday and into the flat came a ton of stuff :( some of it was Christmas presents but even so. Most of it was food so it will be decluttered albeit slowly!

This is harder than I expected. (and it's only day 1)

sigh - 4 thing out and 6 things kept - struggling!!!!

But you have still dealt with the clutter! Even if you are putting stuff away, you are sorting it and asking yourself if you really need to keep it, or if it is indeed clutter. So, you have dealt with 10 items and discarded 4 as clutter - thats very nearly 50% so why be so hard on yourself? Have a pat on the back! well done.

1 metal drawer handle binned - rest of drawer burnt
  • I am gnashing my teeth here. Out of 10 items for sale on eBay I only managed to shift one! I'm so depressed. Well, at least I have conditioner from here to eternity. :o

OUT: 5 cardboard boxes which were empty anyway. 2 black bin bags full of wrapping paper leftover from when I moved into the flat.

  • Hey all, been so busy so I haven't popped in. Manic last few weeks. I've still got my piles of charity shop stuff, going to get someone to take me in with the stuff at some point this week. I've got 40 listings on eBay, 5 will sell and have bids and others have watchers. Have posted about 10 items too. The eBay box is forever shrinking :D

Decluttering doesn't always involve getting rid of loads of stuff sometimes it is just about ensuring things have a home and that are in their home. I'm at the stage where it's putting things back in their home and finding a home and then going meh and getting rid of it :D

I'm getting rid of my fabric stockpile by making a patchwork duvet cover as it's easier and cheaper than making a proper quilt :D

Oh dear - you know that old saying about 'well-laid plans of mice and men ....................'

Arrived at my DD's house to find the place in utter chaos as DGS1 (age 11) had been a right monster about going to school and had then reduced her to tears causing her to not go to college OR to her voluntary project this evening. He's been like this for over a week now but she said that this morning was by far the worst of all.

Having 'read the riot act' - literally told him that if he EVER makes 'my daughter' (I didn't even say 'your mother') cry again - I won't be held responsible for my actions. I also threatened to get his other nanna down, along with his father and let them see what a little $!!! he can really be when they're not looking. He disappeared to his room and actually cleaned it up while I blitzed her kitchen in sheer temper. So my decluttering continued - but in somebody else's house!!!!! I've even made up my mind to get myself up there tomorrow morning for 7.30 to make certain that it doesn't happen again!

    11. Four nighties thrown out - all far too big for me as I've lost a lot of weight during the past year - feels good to see the back of those tents ;).

    12. Three tops put into another large bag for the charity shop - again way to big for me now - but good enough to sell on in the cs. I'll take another load up there tomorrow.

    13. Sort of decluttering of the freezer - we've used up a large container of soup and three small containers of 'scouse' today in an attempt to clear some freezer space.

Thanks everybody for your comments and encouragement - I'm still trying to get my head around all your names, but I'll get there eventually ;)

Oh well - g'night all, let's see what tomorrow brings ................

Hope today goes better :A Well done on taking out frustration on her kitchen. When our house is tidier everything runs smoother. It's nowhere near that at the moment but drawer by drawer, cupboard by cupboard it will get better :)
