We are moving on the 20th of this month  I guess this finally gives me the chance to go through our junk :rotfl: everything we don't need in the living room is packed, I can't believe how much loose useless papers were lying around!

I will be passing on a lot of my son's things to a neighbour so that's at least something we won't have to take with us.

Problem is our new home has even more storage including a garage so I've more place to put crap  :rotfl:

  • I did mean to declutter some stuff yesterday, but ended up going Christmas shopping instead! I only bought a few things for myself :o

Today though, I half made up for it - tidied a couple of drawers and got rid of some old socks and tights, and best of all, sold 28 items on ebay! I am going to New York in three weeks, so the money will come in handy! Lots of them went for more than I was expecting too, which is always great.

:wave:Welcome all newbies to this friendly thread.

After achieving loads this week due to having a week off, I am now returning to work tomorrow so will probably only post at the weekends.

This weekend I managed to declutter plenty off ice when defrosting the fridge and freezer, another item I can tick off my list.

Next weekend I am aiming to go to the tip with some electrical items and continuing to go through my photo albums.

Good luck to you all with your decluttering.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j
  • Wow, everyone's been so busy... and Sarah and Hubby, many congratulations on the birth of baby Evelyn. xx:)

Haven't had a chance to declutter today, spent a lazy morning watching TV and doing a few chores. Decluttered some fabric by making handles for bags, but not much else.

    107. Bib that is too small for either grandchild now - charity bag
    108. Fabric made into bag handles

Got granddaughter (23 months) here overnight and tomorrow so may not get much done then either. Need to tackle the kitchen cupboards sometime, I think there's some out of date stuff lurking in one of them!

Thanks for all your encouragement earlier today. I've bitten the bullet and 'made a start' ....................

While I was away on holiday in September, DS1 - for some reason known only to himself - started putting my post into an ironing basket :undecided. When I came home, I retrieved what I knew to be 'important' but left the remainder in there. Trouble is that I've continued to 'stick other stuff in there'. So that became my Declutter Starting Point today -

    1. Sorted through a stack of letters/junk mail. Removed names/address/bank details from everything and recycled all sheets of paper/envelopes (with windows removed).
    2. Dumped a pile of picture postcards from years ago.
    3. Recycled a pile of Supermarket Magazines. I will NOT collect any more recipes - I've got more than enough PLUS it's so easy to find recipes on-line when needed!
    4. Emptied both dirty laundry baskets - all washed and dried to go away - nothing lying around in piles.
    5. OH has emptied his carp from the base of the spare bed - sliding door type that was FULL to bursting - and he's actually recycled most of it and binned the remainder :T.
    6. OH has had a kind of 'sort out' of his shirts/tops etc. These have all had a 'freshen-up' wash and are now ready for the charity shop. I'm going to the gym tomorrow, so will get rid in the morning BEFORE he decides that he can't really do without them ;).
    7. The important stuff from the ironing basket has been put into the 'filing box' - not into the right files, but at least they're IN there.

So far, so good ....................... more to be done tomorrow.

Best of luck to the rest of you :D.

Could you have not burnt the box? :D
Chuck it out... No, wait, we can fix it. No, it's useful. Aww, it's too good to throw away. Keep it as a memory. Put it to one side, I'll ebay it. No, it'll come in handy one day. No, don't throw it, if you ____, then you can use it as a _____. Don't put it in the bin, the tip has a special section for those.

    Hi All
    Can I join too?

Spent nearly all day yesterday wasting time searching the internet for the magic solution to a clean and tidy home! Of course this meant that I didn't actually DO anything to clean or tidy the home :o.

So, having read back the last 10 pages of this thread I figure this is the way to go. I know from past experience that without all the clutter it's much easier - we decorated our living room 3 years ago and streamlined the storage and it takes less than 10 mins to tidy AND clean now - course that's because anything that shouldn't be in there simply gets moved to the dining room table or sofa! :(.

Anyway count me in - no target yet as if I start to miss the target I lose interest!

Thanks for inspiration will post back later.
