What a fab thread! I have been decluttering since August and my house is almost straight - a new shop has opened locally where you can donate everything except gas operated items and people can go in and get stuff for free - what a great idea!

I have sold loads of Facebook (find this quicker and easier than ebay esp as no postage and packing and NO FEES!
    Donated on freebay
Given things to family and friends
Sold 12 bags of unwanted clothes to rag man
Cleared kids rooms - sold, given away or donated toys

So the big stuff is done and its great feeling loads of space around me, I removed my bathroom blind yesterday when i was cleaning and suddenly realised how small and dark it made the room ... goodbye blind - straight on freebay and gone within 30 mins! now that's my kind of decluttering lol

Now I need to concentrate on the smaller less fun jobs - paperwork etc - things that i put off on a yearly basis...

Only halfway thru this thread but have got some great ideas for finer decluttering so thank you all !

Welcome donnajt - and well done on all your efforts! It's really good to get rid of big stuff, isn't it, because you can definitely see you are making a difference. And I know what you mean about bringing in light. It encourages, but it also points to places you've overlooked. In the summer I keep all the curtains open and bring in as much light as possible. In the winter they are shut to keep in warmth, but I know that means I can't actually 'see' the piles. That's why we do need each other - someone's going to mention an area I've been putting to the back of my mind - and off I go again.

Good luck to us all in the last couple of days of this month!

Charity bag didnt go. Will go tomorrow. Post office stuff went :)

Though my friend gave me a bag of stuff for baby when i went to visit this afternoon so need to go through that. And got a sack of dog food too and some horse riding gloves for DD.

Going to quickly disappear upstairs with a bin liner and quickly sweep round the bedrooms, see if there is anything i can shift for charity whilst the kids are occupied :o
