Hi tvbox, I hesitate to thank you for your question! I usually thank not necessarily because the person has given me something - an idea or whatever, more because what they've said needs an acknowledgement, a grunt, a smile, an appreciation or encouragement of some sort perhaps because they are newbies, just showing that the person wasn't posting into an empty space. When I post a message I sometimes wonder if I've said the wrong thing - and if I get a thanks I can put that out of my mind. Any help?

Thanks! That's all I had to know, I shall follow suit. :).
Chuck it out... No, wait, we can fix it. No, it's useful. Aww, it's too good to throw away. Keep it as a memory. Put it to one side, I'll ebay it. No, it'll come in handy one day. No, don't throw it, if you ____, then you can use it as a _____. Don't put it in the bin, the tip has a special section for those.
  • Loopychriss, are you sure you want to sell?

Well, after 4 months of keeping the house tidy and reasonably clean, the strain is beginning to tell!!! Once we made the decision to move, I just wanted to get on with it, get packed up and go, but real life doesn't work that way. We still haven't had an offer - viewers today were very positive but have got other properties to look at over the next 2 weeks. It's certainly a stressful time and a couple of times I've almost said let's not bother. It's just that we want to downsize price-wise to help our daughters out, a sort of early inheritance.

I'll just keep on hoping and decluttering......

I agree with you about thanking posts!

i don't think I've done any decluttering today, apart from sorting through a big pile of paperwork (which still has to be filed) and recycling quite a lot of it.Done the ironing though and lots of other things as well.

I've just realised that I've put out a lot of magazines and newspapers:

    23-33 (approx) magazines etc. recycled.:)

I might make my target yet.

    happytails take it easy please!
  • Keep going loopychriss - you've put so much effort into it, and you've got a really good reason. I've just hit a couple of problems, including a tenant who doesn't want to be decluttered

Thank you..... I've got an other half who is very reluctant to be decluttered too, although he's improved a bit in the last few months. I really have to argue the case sometimes about getting rid of things. He has a big box of Lego in the loft that is never played with, but he won't let it go to the local Lego club. Saving it for our grandchildren: OK fair enough, but 1/4 of it would do for them! Old cameras and electrical items that are now obsolete: "they're worth something".... to whom? Surely they're only worth something if he sells them? I just let him play....

I'm not giving up: I feel so much 'lighter' for not having so much stuff, it's very liberating.

    Today's declutter:

    33. Bag of fabric scraps given to local children's centre
    34. Craft papers as above
    35. Fabric made into a morsbag

Also distributed yesterday's bags to the community warden who will give them out. So.... slowly and surely....

Quite angry at myself and others for the lack of decluttering today! Just bored and depressed, another day wasted. :(

pleased with my small amount of progress today :)

I sorted the medicine box, about 50% went in the bin. I sorted through the 'excess' toiletries, stuff we've bought in bulk, i have 4 packs of andrex wet wipes, 1 tube of kids toothpaste, 8 tubes of aquafresh toothpaste, 2 shower gels, 1 radox bath soak and some conditioner :). Got my 2 'lady' drawers done, with all my lotions and potions in, hair stuff, nail stuff, perfume ETC. Didnt throw out much in these, 3 nail varnishes and some hairspray and hair glue? but they look much tidier now :) Also wrapped 5 Xmas presents and a birthday present, these are now on top of my wardrobe out of the way :) Small steps :)

Tomorrow im out most of the day so unlikely to get much done. Toddlers in the morning, followed by soft play, catching up with some mummy friends before i pop and then the midwife in the afternoon. Be lucky if i get the washing done (which i didnt get done today).

I must be making progress, i just dont see it yet, except the fireplace in the lounge/office, that is lovely and bare :) i halved the ornaments on there, halved the coasters and got rid of the junk and it makes the room look so much tidier as it is the focal point. All i have on there now is a picture, 2 coasters, 3 ornaments and currently a few birthday cards propped up :) (it used to be covered literally, in mess)
