Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Yesterday I sorted out two of my kitchen cupboards. One that's used for dry foodstuff, I had to throw a few things away as they were long past their date (not Slimming World friendly anyway
). I used some old icecream tubs to sort all my herbs and spices...it was a nightmare before trying to reach anything at the back of the cupboard with knocking over or needing to move all these fiddly jars, at least now I can just lift out a tub, find what I need and put the whole tub back.
The other cupboard has baking stuff etc in it. I got a huge clip-lock box and put all the bun cases, sprinkles, baking powder, flour, cooking chocolate etc into it. My DD had a habit of opening the bun cases and leaving them lying inside the cupboard.
I finally got all the bedding I brought from the caravan washed and dried, it just needs stored in vacuum bags now.
I got the front and back gardens cut yesterday, probably the last before winter...so that looks tidy. I also made a list of all the christmas presents I've bought and who they're for, so that I don't double up on anything.
I cleaned the whole kitchen and bathroom last night and dusted living room and hall. This morning I've emptied and reloaded dishwasher, taken out rubbish, made beds, vacuumed whole house and mopped all the floors (hard floors everywhere).
My bedroom is a mess and the wardrobes, chests of drawers and under the bed really need decluttered. But I'm just going to have breakfast, then have a shower instead.
Happy decluttering everyone :T. Am I the only one that get's a thrill from seeing cupboards etc in order? Lol xx :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
kraftykat, what an amazing day for you!
I'm just slipping in quickly to say that I've disposed of another 12 books. Now back to estate agents, solicitors etc. Loopychriss, are you sure you want to sell?0 -
Afternoon!
Not much done here. I thought i was going into labour this morning so it meant i hoovered downstairs and mopped ready for my home birth but then it all fizzled out Grr.
About to make soup for lunch and going to be productive, finishing off the washing and getting my pre-pregnancy clothes out and having a look at what might fit after the birthI may also wrap one or 2 Xmas presents too

sorry if this has been asked before.
morning cornishchick, as a general rule of thumb, keep all things relating to finances for six years, including utility bills, catalogue statements, benefit letters etc. Receipts can go after the period of guarantee (usually twelve months), be selective though. I aim to go through all my paperwork once a month to keep me up to date but I am wayyyyyy overdue! could do it tomorrow or maybe later today though couldn't I?
Awww, now look what you made me do:p :rotfl: oh well, at least it will keep me off the streets!!

I think you're the only one. Whenever i look at mine (in the unlikely event of them being in order), i feel that something is not right, and that in a few days it will be back to a mess.. It also annoys me beyond belief when you try to get a few bottles/tins in a line, one sticks out, you push it in and then another one sticks out.
One thing i have done is line all cupboard shelves and other kitchen shelves with paper, to prevent 'stickies' building up from cooking grease... gawd, that sticky, gooey, oily stuff just goes all over any horizontal surface that it can find! If the kitchen door isn't closed when frying, you can find things in the hall covered in the stuff.
Also any residue from jars that trickles down the jar will not stain the shelf- just change the paper.
Yesterday, i emptied two huge wooden sideboards? Storage units? in the dining room. The number of wine glasses I had was unbelivable! Some antique, some crystal, all dusty. They all filled the dining table.
Once both units were empty, we swapped them round (left/right) so they looked better. Then put everything back.
Not much thrown away though, but at least we got a good idea as to how many glasses and plates there were!
Only things chucked IIRC was a manky paper gift bag and some cobwebbed bits of paper that had fallen behind the units that we unearthed upon moving the furnitures.Chuck it out... No, wait, we can fix it. No, it's useful. Aww, it's too good to throw away. Keep it as a memory. Put it to one side, I'll ebay it. No, it'll come in handy one day. No, don't throw it, if you ____, then you can use it as a _____. Don't put it in the bin, the tip has a special section for those.0 -

 Just a polite question- Why does everybody like to thank every single post on here? Is it just being polite or does it earn you those stars?
On other forums that I've been on, people only thank some posts that, say, answer questions or something.Thanked 42 times in 9 posts.Chuck it out... No, wait, we can fix it. No, it's useful. Hi tvbox, I hesitate to thank you for your question! I usually thank not necessarily because the person has given me something - an idea or whatever, more because what they've said needs an ackowledgement, a grunt, a smile, an appreciation or encouragement of some sort perhaps because they are newbies, just showing that the person wasn't posting into an empty space. When I post a message I sometimes wonder if I've said the wrong thing - and if I get a thanks I can put that out of my mind. Any help?0
