Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Hello temba, welcome to the thread.
If you have the power and other leads for the computers, can you not copy the files to a disc and then erase them and the history? It's quite and easy job to do. Personally, I would give the older ones to charity and they will distribute as they see fit. If you can get a few pounds for the other one, sell it! Might be enough money for you to buy a new storage item to help with your decluttering or maybe pay for a treat for when you reach a goal?
be warned, decluttering is like crack.......REALLY addictive:rotfl:Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Ok, I said, yesterday, that I would join with this today but was called into work and by the time I got home and done bits and bobs..........nothing has got flung...........I have sorted the ironing pile into 3, OH, DD and myself. will go through them tomorrow and see what no longer fits DD, Afew weeks ago, I went through a lot of the clothes and have a bag for a friend and a bag for charity...........both still live in dining room with the new 3 piles!!!!
Inset day tomorrow so hope to make some progress in there. The kitchen is the dumping ground for paper work and gibble.........will try and get onto that once I've done the clothes.
I did, a while back, make a huge improvement in the main bedroom and the spare room(I use as a dressing room). The main bedroom is still good (mainly as all my clothes are in the spare room!!) but the spare room has started to deteriorate(sp?)......that also needs to be done............the living room..........well looks ok as long as you don't look in corners(yesterday I found a boxset of books that I bought for DD for Christmas last year and forgot about!!!! (one Christmas present bought for this year I suppose!!!)............looking foreward to getting sorted!! xx0 -
Not done much over the weekend and today, as we were out Saturday and I decided to do some sewing yesterday and today, so made an even bigger mess while sorting out the fabrics etc.
However, did out the following:
83. 1 1/2 litre bottle of wine taken to friends
84. 5 morsbags made out of fabric stash - being distributed tomorrow
85. 1 reel of cotton used up making morsbags
86. 1 book hubby finished reading - charity shop bag
Only need another 14 to get to target for September: I thought I might struggle this month as I'm running out of areas to declutter, but I keep finding the odd bit that I can do without. Hopeful of making target by next Sunday though....
Well done everyone on your decluttering successes; and for those who have just started, take it in small steps and declutter one thing at a time!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I've not posted in forever but I've made a small bit of progress
I've sold probably a black bags worth of baby clothes (I won't shock you with what is left!) and have managed to clear a small table that was full of paperwork, cough sweets, one of my son's toys and a metal nail file :rotfl:
I want to get my house in shape for Christmas. My son will be 16 months and his Christmas list seems to have exploded. He is getting quite a lot from relatives (especially my mum) so I need to find a place for it all.
My main bugbear is the dining table. I cleared it in August because we had a party for his birthday but it's since cluttered up again. Paperwork, clothes, coats, a few Christmas presents waiting to be put away
We have a 3 bedroom house and my son still sleeps in with us so you'd think I have plenty of room but both spare rooms are packed. The bigger spare room is half office for my OH and half storage. In there I have boxes of baby clothes, a metal double bed frame, boxes of things that I didn't sort through when we moved in 3 years ago etc. The smaller room (my son's nursery :rotfl:) has a swinging crib, moses basket, 3 prams, attachments for the current pram I'm using, a baby swing, bouncy chair, boxes of books, clothes that he's not grown into, cards from when I gave birth, Christmas, birthday etc.
I do want to keep most of the baby things as we are going to have another but I want to get rid of 1 of the travel systems as it's broken. There's also another carseat in there that I need to get rid of. One of the pushchairs would be good for the summer as it's very light but I think I could give the other one away which would leave me with the pram I'm using now and the light pushchair.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Morning all.
Was happy with what I got done yesterday but it is only the start. Have to keep in mind a bit everyday adds up. So back into the utility room today again. Am going to sort out whats for giving to friend for her family and whats not fit to give away recycle it.
Also started a pile for 'clothes for cash' so hopefully by the end of the day I will be able to see clean worktops.
Sequeena be ruthless. If you dont need it get rid of it. Simples:)
I know what you mean about the dining table. I have the same problem. There are times when I just lift everything off it serve dinner and then set it all back on again. That will be another days work but one room at a time.
I need to turn up a pair of suit trousers for my husband and I cant find the 'material, bonding' to do it. Its in the untility somewhere !!!!!!!!!!0 -
Morning all
My report for today - brought in a small bag of toiletries/ cosmetics for the girls at work to fight over. they love it when I have a clear outAlso brought in a reebok stretchy band thing that i don't use any more for one of the girls who was after one.
Am considering freecycling/ selling one of my yoga blocks but am worried it will be one of those things that I'll want to use as soon as I get rid. To be fair I haven't ever used them in all the time I've had them and I'll still have one which is all I need really.
I also have a collection of rubber ducks which I am thinking of freecycling. They are just stuck in a draw as when i had them out by the bath, water got inside their holes and made some of them mouldy inside  I cleaned them out as best I could. They could go to a home with a child who would make good use out of them. Some of them are quite quirky ie glow in the dark, colour changes when in warm water, have colour flashing lights inside but is there any point keeping them if they are hidden away?0
