2 charity bags filled for friend, if I put them in the car ready to give tomorrow, does that class as gone?
I haven't had chance to read the beginning of the thread, but am I right in thinking that I am to aim for a hundred items a month and do I count the bags of clothes or the individual items? TIA xx0 -

Hello toochoosey. Well done for posting.
You make your target whatever you like, some peeps separate target (especially our book loving ladies), some peeps target areas of the home rather than a number. It is whatever works best for you. I like 100, but that number will probably decrease as my clutter goes. You count things to suit you too. Some peeps count a whole bag as one, I prefer to count an item as one, although little bits I usually count when I have a bagful and call it one.
There are no rules; one thing though is to set yourself a realistic target on what you think you WILL achieve. If you make an impossibly high target and don't reach it you may become discouraged.
I work to a principal, if it was in a cupboard or drawer then I have probably not used it so do not need it, if I haven't worn it in the last year then I probably won't wear it again. I do tend to err on the side of harshness though :rotfl:
Well done and keep up the good work:TSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Thanks suzeesu2000, I think what I'll do is see how much I can get rid of till the beginning of October and then set myself a target.
So far today, 2 bags of clothes and 2 plastic pink wine glasses that I kept as a souvenior from a friends hen night that I have never used. Plus a recycling bags of drinks cans that friends nephew is collecting to raise money.
Think I will have a rummage in the pile of hangers I have, see what I can get rid of while I am in the mood........0 -
I told you all how my OH so kindly  got three large bags down from the loft for me the other week, well I've sorted one load.
I've managed to pass on one single duvet suggesting its used under the bottom sheet for extra comfort and warmth. It sounds convincing doesn't it, so one more bulky item gone. Just need to convince a couple more friends as I have two duvets left, too good to bin and CS won't take bedding apparently.
Also, came across some old material that I bought in JLewis sale. I'd forgotten about it. Anyhow I've made a cushion and will hem and finish the edges to make a matching throw.
Keep up the good work, happy decluttering.0 -
Well done, pjran - I'm struggling with duvets too! Too many manky old singles, not enough doubles & kingsize...
I'm doing the cookbooks bit by bit; 5 will be going off with me to a local charity shop shortly. But I did Freecycle a largish item from the garage this morning - an old & rusty but still useable fire pit - so have a little virtuous glow!, Yes, it was fun, but the little potbelly BBQ stove is just as much fun, more economical & much easier to cook on - and I can use wood instead of charcoal, which I can pick up for free around here.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Everyone seems to be making loads of progress.
I got rid of 6 tatty photo frames. The photos will be going in the big collage photo frame i bought a while back to cheer up a wall in the house (not decided which one yet lol)
Sold a part used perfume on ebay for £11 (it sets off my allergies) so thats good! Going to try and go through my craft storage and see what i can get rid off and see if looking at anything inspires me to make something!
Got some seed pots to go to the CS. Will add it to my pile of stuffI seem to have massively slowed down but i just have no energy for anything productive ATM
This weather isnt helping either.
