    Ok, my first attempt:
    1. 2 bags of clothes
    2. 4 broken hangers
    3. 2 useless hangers
    4. 6 bits of mail that were waiting to be checked that were actual junk.
    5. 1 bag of recycling for charity fundraising

I think that was ok for first day????

Thank you, I'd love to declutter someone else's stuff: I think it would be easier than doing my own because I wouldn't have bought it/been given it and have to agonise about the guilt factor. You're a long way away from me though.... (and I'd probably want to rescue loads!)

Yes, well done for making a start. You'll soon find that it becomes a bit addictive: I started off by declutering 100 items in 10 days, which was manageable. Didn't have to be 10 consecutive days either. Of course, you don't have to pick that number, just choose what you are comfortable with and able to achieve. It's not a race or a competition here, we all just do what we feel we are able to.

Nothing done here today, been out for the day and now got granddaughter (21 months) stopping overnight and tomorrow, so I don't suppose anything will get done then either. I am intending to spend Thursday indoors, concentrating on cleaning and tidying and finding more stuff to dispose of.

  • Well done, pjran - I'm struggling with duvets too! Too many manky old singles, not enough doubles & kingsize...

Can't you remake the singles into a nice king or double? It's ever so easy and you could make it all plump and snuggly:)

Well, here's what happened with my new decluttering resolution....

I was in the loft to clear stuff and then I noticed WATER running down the wall!! ARGG! So today the roofer came and repaired the roof.... has obviously been dripping for years (but as I never go in the loft I hadn't noticed) and some of the wood was completely rotten.

So....didn't declutter anything today, but at least saved myself lots of roof problems in future !

  • Morning all

Not much has left this place over the past week or so. Today I'll return a shirt to a family member who stayed over a year ago, a book has been recycled and I've just had a good idea. A little while ago I bought multi-sheets of wrapping paper and haven't known where to put it. I think I wasn't trying hard enough - I'll put it with the rest of the wrapping paper in the long bag hanging in the under stairs cupboard :rotfl:

    We'll all get there!

  • Hi,I have just taken a deep breath & decided to finally sort out my clutter. Just a quick question - is there somewhere I can get advice about ebay? I have some items like boden & laura ashley clothes & wondered if it was still worth the ebay route. Also, what would you advise for ps2 games & dvd's - what would be the best way to sell?

Hello freedom, well done for diving in.

With regard to eBay, I would take a few minutes to see what other items the same or similar to yours are selling for. Just type in the name of what you have, hit search and hey presto! Also see what categories they are being sold in, sometimes it is worth a few pennies more to list in more than one and also see whether overseas buyers would be a good punt. But do check your postage on that one!! EBay can be great so long as you factor in what it's going to cost you. Good luck:)
