I so need to do this. I can totally relate to
    1) not being able to find things
    2) coming home to find lots of stuff that needs doing instead of coming home to a lovely decluttered relaxing environment.
I have subscribed-I hope to start my quest tomorrow. Monday (not the tomorrow that never arrives) :)

  • Just cleared one part of worktop in kitchen, inc scrubbing the toaster to clean it. Cleared a shelf and rearranged tidily. All bits put away in right place.
Tidying my bank account too. I have stopped 4 standing orders for non essential items, saving me £37 per month.

I have 2 towels per person... (and 24 hoarded away in the bedding cupboard, they hold up a shelf!)

Curtains all washed and rehung ready for winter :D

Coathangers: some charity shops take them, most don't. If you're near a big Tesco, they have a hanger recycling bin.

    [[/QUOTE]

Our oversized T*sco doesnt take them any more and I cant find anyone who does.........:(

I've done some dusting and tidying and managed a small decluttering:

    -22 dvds
    -6 videos
    -1 decorative bowl

    197/150.

    Not bad really.

I'm seriously tempted just to drag the boxes into the car and dump them at the tip because I do not know what is in them all.

I could never do that, I'd be afraid that I'd dumped something important, I even had to check through the boxes that my dad sorted for CS when he moved, but it was lucky I did as he'd chucked in most of the old family photo albums, and some ornaments that my mum promised my sisters could have after she died.
Wish I had room for a small table so I could keep my machine up all the time, half of the reason why I don't sew so much now is having to get the flipping thing out and stand up to sew, really is a bind.

I wish I could do that too, the machine I have at the moment (got off freecycle) weighs a ton, and I usually have to get OH to bring it downstairs for me to use on the dining table, as I always worry that it might put my back out if I carry it down myself. I would definitely use it more if I could leave it set up all the time.
But do you remeber the old days when it would have been video's taking up soooooo much room? How did we deal with that??

We had 100's of videos, mainly because my DS is such a collector, and I got rid of boxes of them via freecycle and also took a lot to CS, it was amazing how much space it gave us when they'd gone, but still have loads in the shed to get rid of, was hoping to sort that while OH and I are off work this week but I think the weather might put paid to that plan!

Not done anything today, as we were at my dad's decluttering the ice monster out of his freezer, but we also got rid of his manky table top oven as he has a nice new one, so I've been able to bin the handle from the tray of the old one (it was in one his CS boxes and I've been meaning to take it round to him since rescuing it), which has been in my cupboard for over a year since he moved, lol, so I can count one more item for this month!

  • Heavens above!! You have all been sooo busy!! Bring on the rain if this is what happens:rotfl:

I have been so good and got another charity bag full of fabric, there is a free cycler who wanted the first one but was too late so hopefully she will take this one.

Sorted out a whole unserved drawer which was jam-packed full of fabric. Condensed to half a drawer which means I can put some other stuff away tomorrow.

Bedding was done a while ago, only kept three sets for double and two for the single, I kept six White bath sheets and six White hand towels, had a charity bag full of other towels which went to RSPCA.

I know for a fact that, along with all the other carp, we have at least three crates full of videos in the shed....

Well done all, this has been a very productive weekend, aren't we all amazing? :T

Chucked out dining table into the drive in the hopes someone takes it, if not we will dismantle it another time but its out of the house now :o Threw away a dummy that had a hole in it and some old tupperware but thats it.

A more productive day tomorrow i think! Sarah x
