Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Morning everyone. Haven't posted for a while mainly because there hasn't been much activity to report.
A freecycler was meant to come by last night at 7 to collect a Spot the Intro board game. Waited till 7:30 then started doing my zumba on the wii. When I'd finished I found a note on the mat, they had turned up at 7:40!I didn't feel too bad as I think giving half an hour leeway was fair. Hopefully they'll collect tonight. However while I was waiting in that half hour I had an impromptu declutter of one of the kitchen cupboards and the fridge and chucked out a load of out of date stuff. So all was not lost. :j
My plan for the weekend is to paint the bedroom door (would like to do this before the weather gets too cold to leave windows open) and declutter some mugs (at last count I had about 20 odd which is ridiculous for someone living on their own!).
I notice its free listing this weekend but I don't think I'll be able to participate as they still haven't sent me this verification thingy to increase my selling limit. Very frustrating as I have been so buoyed by my recent sales I am raring to go and have tons of things in the 'ebay' box :mad:0 -

Does anyone else find it harder to sell/give away things we got as gifts especially if you remember who gave it you/the kids etc? Or if you've not had the item that long? really trying to be ruthless but its hard!

I struggled with this for a long time and then figured the gifter doesn't know what you do with it afterwards so instead of having gifts creating clutter because of guilt I just get rid now.
Having said that at the moment I do have a dilemma about this. back in April my best friend and I went to Westfield and the Apple shop. I somehow got talked into buying a Michael Kors iphone cover for £75 which is absolute madness I know. In the end she said she'd give me half the money and it would be an early birthday present. But I have never used it as I am quite happy with my Hello Kitty cover and I am really torn as I know it would fetch a good price on ebay but I feel dreadful. Any advice? :undecided0 -

I know everyone likes a free listing day on Ebay (me included) but I've come to realise that it only saves me a few pence, usually about 15p at the starting prices of my stuff. it's the final selling fees that are really painful.:rotfl:

I suppose seeing it in black and white its not so bad! I don't mind so much now there's a bit of money built up in the paypal account, I just have to be very choosy with what I list and be reasonably confident it will sell, whereas when its free I just bung on any and everything. Re the verification thing, I just went to redo it and it seems I should have clicked on something saying send letter and it would have been sent in 3-5 days. As I was doing it from my mobile I didn't see this, so no wonder I haven't received it. DOH! :embarasse However I noticed that I still have an allowance of 2 things to sell so will need to make some decisions tonight!0 -

Blimming flip tatty, you are doing brilliantly:T
I have spent time since box arrived sorting through fabric and have a charity bag sized amount to free cycle, so hopefully that will go to a new home over the weekend. Have promised myself that tomorrow I am going to put what I am keeping away and have another good old sort through it, see what else can be passed on.
It's supposed to be wet and cold over the weekend, so I am expecting to see lots of posts in here:rotfl:
Have a good evening all:)Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Very successful day decluttering with my sister. She took all our videos and some craft stuff, and lots of misc stuff like kitchen equipment. I may also have found a home for the adjustable weights bench and dumbbells. Guesstimating 90ish items for September, but a lot of it was really small stuff that's gone into 2 black bags for the bin, plus she completely cleared odd wood and plastic from the front garden to the local dump. I'm going to shred 2 carrier bags of paperwork this weekend but am not going to include that. Next Friday we're recycling about 100 plastic plant pots of various sizes and 2 broken fence panels from the back garden so I can use the patio again for hanging out washing."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Your friend won't know that you've sold it,will she?
You could wait a bit longer, and if you still haven't used it (unless you want to keep it as a replacement) then what's the likliehood that you will?0 -
I haven't posted for ages, but I'm still decluttering
I found an article which really made me think, I've realised that all the altered art and miniatures projects I was planning just aren't going to happen. Its a real weight off my mind to know I can let these things go.
and so the next layer of decluttering begins ....suzeesu2000 wrote: »Blimming flip tatty, you are doing brilliantly:TOH helped me take more stuff to cs today and we've still got loads to do.
Probably won't get much more done this month but next month I'm going for 200 items to declutter.GE 36 *MFD may 2043
