  • OH,absolutely!:j

    I have one book,definitely,to declutter.So that's 150/150-target reached!

I also have ten books by Ian Rankin, one of which I've read.I'm loathe to give them away, but don't really enjoy detective fiction any more and am not sure if I'll ever read them tbh.Someone help me to decide, please!

Great news on the target - especially since it's a raised one! I do enjoy Ian Rankin but know he's not for everyone (for me it's the Scotland bit that reminds me of so much I know). Is there an English speaking community that you could ask? Someone might love them. There's no reason you should need to keep something you personally don't want - but it might be easier to give them/sell them to someone who really wants them.
  • Morning!! Ive got an hour to do something productive!! before we head out to soft play for the afternoon (Free passes!)

I am trying to earn money whilst i declutter so things often get bunged near my desk to sell, so i think im going to sort through what ive got there and tidy it up a bit!

Ive got some lovely willow tree figures (and i do love these) but ATM i keep looking at them eyeing them up like £££'s but i know id be sad if i got rid of them. They are currently sat in the lounge so dont get looked at much as we use that room as an office so thinking if i move them to somewhere they'll be appreciated, and if not, maybe ill be more inclined to let a few go (i have 6).

Does anyone else find it harder to sell/give away things we got as gifts especially if you remember who gave it you/the kids etc? Or if you've not had the item that long? really trying to be ruthless but its hard!

  • Not doing so well - busy at work - but the loft's more organised, even if I haven't thrown lots away.

    To charity shop:
    1 game
    2 jackets
    1 book
    1 something else I can't remember - I just know I took 6 things!!

..miniatures projects I was planning just aren't going to happen..

How true Rosieben! I do all sorts of crafts and recently have been thinking that the stuff I bought to try new crafts, and then found I didn't enjoy doing them (e.g. making miniatures with polymer clay..def not for me!), should be going.

Just need to clear my craft room of non-craft stuff that has accumulated there then eBay here I come!!

Decluttering, home-making and 'proper' cooking are my priorities this year and trying to finish all those unfinished hobby projects before spending any more money!

Yes,I'm really pleased about my increased target.I might be able to add to it.:)

As for the Ian Rankin books,I just don't think that I'll read them!So yes,on reflection I'm going to give them away.

I give all my English language books to the Scot's Kirk here, who have a book sale once a week.I'm also quite a good customer. Some amazing finds, including a Graham Greene first edition.

    Envy, envy!

I now have two visitors but still managed to put out a lot of cs stuff for the Scout Jumble Sale and freecycled a 4-prayer vegetable rack, replaced by a much smaller 3-drawer version (from the garage).

Yesterday I made use of a voucher I was given for Afternoon Tea for Two delivered to your door. We thought there would be plenty for two visitors and myself but when we actually saw it, we phoned another couple to come and share, and I was thrilled that with no extra effort I could accommodate 5 of us in the kitchen. Space is Good :)
  • Not much to report here for a couple of days.... been busy and otherwise occupied, so haven't decluttered much. Did manage to make some morsbags this morning in local library (I run a group there) and gave them to the Community Warden for distribution. So all I can add for the last couple of days is.....

    75. 8 morsbags made and distributed
    76. Birthday card posted to friend

Going into town tomorrow with all the clothes, so at least they will be out of the house and give me a bit more space. Will have a good look round at the weekend too to see where else I can pare down. I think I still have far too many clothes, so might go through them all again.... Also scrapbooking stuff: I haven't done any scrapbooking now for about 3 years so really don't know why I'm hanging on to all the papers and embellishments (there's that 'aspirational me' cropping up again!).

Yes,it's 'The Honorary Consul' published in 1973.I've not read it yet though.

Oh and I also have a first edition of Evelyn Waugh's 'Officers and Gentlemen',published in 1955.

I found a Dickens published in the 1890s that I gave to my Mum-she's a big Dicken's fan.

So today I'm going to take my previously listed ,decluttered dvds into town to sell them. They're all down in the cellar.

I might have another look at my books. They are probably a few more that could go.:)

    loopychriss what are morsbags?
  • Morning all!

Haven't had the energy to do much decluttering, but have been noticing what needs doing next.

All towels, diver covers, pillowcases now fit into the ottoman with no overspill yeaaahyyy! I know I have to get rid of some coat hangers, I outer about four garden sacks of clothes over the last year but have, for some peculiar reason, kept hold of all the hangers....And I still haven't done anything with that kitchen cupboard Grrrr. As Sainsburys are due this morning it would make sense to go and do it now wouldn't it? Yeah, see you all in a wee while then.

    Have a great day all.:)
