Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

OK - now I really have to take this seriously. I've agreed to put up 4 people over next weekend with others to replace them when they go!! It all needs to be tidy (for their sakes) without pushing everything back into plastic bags at the back of cupboards (for my sake). And that's with being away for 3 nights during the week. Time to focus.
So from last night:
1 tin opener to bin (as a left hander I LOVE my electric tin opener)
1 small thing to cs
2 prs shoes to cs
2 cotton summer hats to cs
misc tools/electrical items to garage
misc picnic things to picnic bag in garage.
Now to make a PLAN.0 -
Can I join the party? I have been lurking for awhile and you guys have inspired me to get rid of my junk.
Managed to do 100 in July and only just starting on August challenge today but am up to about 20.
Whilst sorting I have discovered that I seem to have somewhat of a pen addiction. I have just given a load to my cousin who is about to start teacher training but would like to donate some. Anybody have any guess about where I could do this? Thanks for help with this.silentsister wrote: »Hi zabl, welcome - you're well on already.
Pens/pencils - I've found a group that wants to do a quiz at a party, so I'm providing the pens and don't want them back. Otherwise perhaps local schools or play groups. Your teacher training cousin could maybe find others who need them? I also have connections with a school in North Africa so as soon as there's the chance, I'll be sending a lot of stationery there. Good luck.
Pens pencils etc multiply in our house too............I give carrier bags of them away on fr**cycle every now and then when we need a cull:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

What do you need to do to drop things off at charity shops, just give them a wash, bag them and pop in?

Thanks for the tips guys, I have loaded up a huge bag and am dropping it off at my cousins.
Also I found this charity to donate to if anyone else has the same problem: http://www.pensforkids.co.uk/how_you_can_help.html
Now that I am aware of my pen problem a'hem! I am going to make an effort to stop getting them from everywhere
Today's tasks are to post 7 ebay items and then start on the bedroom and wardrobeerk!

That's what I do. We have had a charity bag through the letterbox this morning so planning on using that as it will be collected.
We have a new bed being delivered tomorrow for DS1 so his room is now ready and waiting for it to be delivered, they are taking the old one. Went to buy him new duvet, pillows and mattress protector yesterday so the old stuff ready to go later today (textile recycling)
Lots of recycling sorted and general rubbish ready to go.
Everyone seems to be doing really well.

Well, I gonna start my declutter mission tonight :j with the coffee table in the living room and then maybe some drawers in the kitchen. How do you do your counts though? One item removed = 1/100? I might just tick of the zones I cleared otherwise my list will be endless
I maybe also have a look at selling on 3bay or Am@zon again, well that is if I find anything worth sellingDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
This decluttering is contagious, even got OH involved.
Hubby has the day off and I've managed to get him tidying the garage. He's torn up all the cardboard boxes and put them on the compost heap, one of those little jobs he's been meaning to do for ages;) he's thrown / recycled all sorts.
The only bit of decluttering I did today was to empty (eat) the last few Maltessers.0 -

Yup thats the top and bottom of it:) If you take your stuff to Oxf*m and you have one M&S item in your bag ( tell them) then they will give you an M&S voucher worth £5 on a £35 spend in Marks clothes or homeware depts. I use them when buying school uniform or at Christmas - vouchers are issued each month so watch the date:D
Also if you area tax payer its worth signing up for gift aid - most national chain CS use this method to gain extra income at no cost to youBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
