  • Ooops, memory like a sieve! Just found another list of things I'd got rid of today:

    84. 19 crayons/felt tips - gone to Community Wardens for craft club
    85. 1 printed on fabric doll pattern - same as above
    86. Plastic storage box filled with envelopes - same as above
    87. 3 craft CDs - same as above
    88. Various card-making bits and pieces - same as above

I must learn to use just one notebook to list things. At the moment I've got about 4 on the go and it does get confusing!!!

(Note to self: perhaps decluttering the notebooks would make things simpler!!!)

  • Mine is slowing down as I am back at work so have so much to do when I get home. But there still seems a never ending load of stuff to get rid of. I have lots of watchers and bids so hoping to get rid of a load of that stuff! I only have Sundays to myself so will be back in then for more decluttering.
  • I know we feel we're slowing down but that looks spot on for meeting the August target. You're doing so well.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

I'll think I'll manage to reach my target. We can't be in 'declutter mode' all day, every day though can we?I do have other things to do as well.:)

    I forgot to list:

    47-one microwave cover to cs.

What great ideas for re-use! You are so creative :T
    Wish I could sew...

Sewing is not rocket science you now. Years ago we got taught in primary school (yes, I'm that old, all of 53) and by the time I was ten I could do several hand stitches and use the old treadle sewing machine in school. I'm teaching my own DD and some of her friends atm so I bought three old hand crank Singers, £10 a pop, from the local charity/junk shop. This sort of machine is ideal for a novice who is nervous of the speed and complexity of a modern sewing machine and it will do straight stitch, some will do reverse and with different feet you can do hemming stitch and zig zah, as well as ruffles and buttonholes. Just by turning the handle. And you can make anything on a hand crank machine, as well if not better than on a modern one. And come the Zombie Apocalypse you'll still be able to sew.

So, have a go! There's plenty of good instructional websites out there, a second hand machine doesn't cost much and you can practice on charity shop sheets.

My contribution to decluttering this morning.I have a box file on the recipe book shelf where I keep all the instruction booklets for the tv, microwave, dishwasher etc. It was bursting so I took it down and sorted out all the booklets for appliances we've got rid of years ago. I'm ashamed to admit that 90% of them were no longer needed....so they're now in the paper recycling.

  • Yesterday I attacked the herbs and spices and just about all were Very Out of Date. So
30 jars + spices in bin
    7 boxes + herbs in bin/recycling
1 broken storage box to bin
1 plastic pot smelling strongly of cloves to bin
    1 fish slice to bin

I have a freecycler round this afternoon (hopefully) to collect something but I'll include that when it happens.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for another friend to store 6 boxes in my garage. Well, if they use the space, I can't!

  • Hi all
Am new here. I've been catching up on all the posts over the last few weeks and thought I'd like to jump on board if I may. During that time I have been inspired by all of you and your activities so thought I'd share some recent decluttering I've done though it is a work in progress.

Last week - old computer speakers, toaster and Nintendo DS game to Freecyclers. Kettle to boyfriend (it killed me to give that away as it was one of those that boils at different temperatures but I can still use it when I go to his!)

Weekend - 9 handbags on ebay taking advantage of the free listing weekend, I was ruthless!

This week so far - single wardrobe out of loft and to Freecycler (Yay!), 1 1/2 CS bags filled with clothes and socks. Various old appliance manuals sorted through and slung out.

Still working away at it, I have 12 items on eBay, 9 have bids and the rest have watchers so that is great, I have just listed a couple of things on Facebook, fingers crossed they sell.

I have my big box of charity shop stuff waiting by the door so will count that as out today hopefully

Have a great day everyone :)
