Glad to hear everyone has been getting on well. The weekend is over, and my lounge and kitchen are practically back to normal. Phew. Suitcases emptied and put away. Huge amounts of recycling gone out, and a few useable wedding things ready for the charity shop.
  • I've been so busy, little time for decluttering. I got 48 items listed on eBay yesterday and still more to list. Already got some watchers.

I've had a massive wardrobe clearout of all my old clothes and replacing them with nice new ones from eBay.

I also had 2 bin bags of clothes that aren't good enough for eBay or CS so will take them to the recycling bin at the tip.

I finished off sorting the assorted cutlery box:
    16 bundles to cs
    2 knives to bin
    1 tablespoon to bin
    2 A2 postes to recycling
1 painting to recycling (kept it for 30 years for the subject matter but not a good painting)

Still waiting for a freecycler who said they were coming on Saturday to collect furniture!

    Morning everyone,

Silentsister, I hate it when free cyclers don't turn up.

Bit of a quiet weekend so not that much to report.

9 Bag of clothes to CS
10 back of books to CS
    11 Books to next door
12 One pair of DSs disgusting old socks to the bin.:D

    Happy decluttering.

Not a very productive day so far...

    Recycled our anniversary cards
Took food from freezer for dinner and used stuff we had lurking about for lunch as I'm trying to use up all the food I have accumulated.

Heading off now to fold my washing :)
  • A1 portfolio case to freecycler.

Now this is a turnaround for me - my local friends are been hearing what I've been up to and are asking me for things!

So 12 linen table napkins to a friend, and this evening I'll sort out 100 pencils and pens for a party - not to be returned.

  • Have had a bumper day today: was intending to go into town early because granddaughter is up at 7 and doesn't let anyone sleep in after that! However, after breakfast and getting dressed, she was yawning and went upstairs to get her dummy, and went back to sleep at 10 am! So.... not wanting to waste a morning, hubby and I ventured into the loft and had a massive sort out. So....

    40. 4 soft toys - to local charity
    41. 2 books
    42. Winnie the Pooh baking set bought for Christmas present and wasn't used - local charity for tombola
    43. 1 set baby rubber ducks - local charity for tombola
    44. 6 good luck charms for weddings - local charity
    45. 1 metal tankard - local charity
    46. 1 plastic box with various sewing bits in - charity shop
    47. Piece of metal from old TV aerial - metal recycling
    48. Old newspapers from 1997 (death of Diana) - recycling
    49. Travel leaflets from a trip we took in 2001 - recycling
    50. Cardboard photo box with a broken lid - recycling
    51. 6 more books - charity shop
    52. Torn bubble wrap - recycling
    53. Old Lego instruction book - recycling
    54. 8 Ordinance Survey maps - charity shop
    55. 3 metal brandy goblets - charity shop
    56. Floppy disc drive - charity shop
    57. 2 pairs cuff links - charity shop
    58. LED torch - charity shop
    59. 1 broken pen - bin
    60. A 21st birthday certificate - recycling
    61. Open University introduction CD - charity shop
    62. Falling apart camera case - bin
    63. Old flashgun for camera - bin
    64. 1 unidentified lead for something we got rid of years ago - bin
    65. 2 random bits from a long-gone hair cutting set - bin
    66. Old metal hook - metal recycling
    67. Manky duvet and pillow - will go either on Freegle or to fabric recycling
    68. 1 china bowl from our new set that I broke this morning! (Ouch - replacement bowl cost £5!!!) - bin
    69. Old air freshener that had lost its smell from downstairs loo - bin
    70. 4 greetings cards written, 2 posted and packaging disposed of
    71. End of a bar of soap (found in loft from who knows when) - bin
    72. 2 compact mirror/sewing case sets - quilt group raffle in Sept.
    73. Broken plastic ruler - bin
    74. Watercolour pad - charity shop
    75. Index cards and holder - charity shop
    76. About every birthday card my 2 DD have ever received from when they were 1 to about age 9 - paper recycling

Also sorted out a crate that had been living in the lounge since the middle of June (when I just chucked everything off the sideboard into it in order to get it tidy for house going on market). So that's only taken 9 weeks then...

    77. Loads of receipts and junk post - shredded
    78. Hubby's birthday cards (27th March), Mother's Day cards and Easter cards - gone in paper recycling
    79. Couple of magazines forgotten about - paper recycling
    80. Canvas frame bought to make a picture to hang up for estate agent's photos - put away as I'm never going to get it done this side of Christmas!

Crate is now rehoused somewhere - can't remember where at the moment, but upstairs somewhere, waiting to be filled with bits when we move. Loft is also looking a lot tidier.

Very proud of hubby as he tends to hang on to things 'because they might be worth something' or they cost a lot when he bought them. Found some computer software programme or other that he got through work - currently to buy new is over £1000, but it's old stuff. Told him that it's no good being worth that if it's just sitting up there, so he's thinking about putting it on Ebay. Still, he did part with a lot of other stuff, so I'm not going to nag too much.

So, a good day in all. Don't think we'll be as lucky tomorrow though...
