you can have it.. please!!!
I'm sure it would be snapped up on fleabay!I do have a soft spot for grandfather clocks.
Not much from me today, busy with other things.I did sort and tidy/recycle some papers and have made a space for some books on a bookshelf.
All my decluttered cds have gone down to the cellar space, waiting for a trip into town-too busy today.
Tomorrow might be a better day.:)0 -
The clock needs to go I think.. it annoys me so I don't ever wind it up..
the treadle... is beautiful but useless .. it does work fine but I have a monster modern one so unless we suddenly run out of leccy it too is useless for anything other than looking pretty.. but.. I like it and would like it on display..
See.. totally indecisive
I'm no expert but IMHO the clock is likely to be worth a bit and so as it is annoying you sell it.
I love the look of old sweing machines as well but I recall seeing on the Antiques Roadshow that they were one of the most prevalent items brought in for valuation on the show and they aren't worth much at all.
So as a start sell the clock and keep the machine as a display item then reassess in a few weeks time?0 -
112. broken bottle of white wine vinegar - in the bin
113. blender, not working and not repairable - in the bin
114. black sack of videos, recorded from the TV millions of years ago - in the bin
So I'll declare on 114 for July.
Back again tomorrow to start the August Abolition!!*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
Had a bit of a blitz in the last couple of days, so these are my final flingings for July.
146. 2 china bowls smashed ('accidentally' by hubby) - tip
147. 1 jigsaw to mum and dad
148. Bag of garden rubbish to tip
149. 9 bags of squashed aluminium cans to recyclers
150. 1 plastic shopping basket (accidentally by hubby - it had metal recycling in it and he left it at the recyclers)
151. Rotary cutter that had a blunt blade and could not be replaced
152. Packet of beads - Community Warden for children's craft
153. 2 rolls patterned cellophane - as above
154. Loads of embellishments for card making - as above
155. Set of wooden heart fridge magnets - as above
156. Index cards - as above
157. Pair of hubby's trousers - in homeless shelter bag
158. Film canister - in homeless shelter bag (they decant shampoo into them)
159. About 300 sheets of paper - printed a quiz on them for distribution
160. 4 printer inks used up in the above operation - will be recycled
161. Amazon cardboard box that all the craft stuff was in - Community Warden
So that's my total for July - 161. Not bad considering I had a massive declutter before I even joined this challenge in June.... Heaven only knows where it all comes from and hides.... still have all my clothes to do, plus the loft and the garage and the shed. Think August may hit target too, although I won't be doing any from Thursday for a week due to going away.
Been reading everyone else's totals, brilliant. If only we could tot up the weight of all this stuff, we'd find it would be hundreds, if not thousands, of tons..... Well done everybody.
Keep Calm and Carry on Decluttering in August!!!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Hi all, not been planning to do the 100 in July task, but have realised that I have been doing a de-clutter in lots of areas. So in the last 2 weeks I have..
Started out wanting to get rid of unneeded Uni work on my computer, but realised I had to also go through the hard copies and ensure I had a record of everything. So this resulted in me getting rid of the notes, worksheets and drafts, checking I had a final version (with feedback & grades & bibliographies ) on my harddrive (backing that up!!) and then chucking out
2 very full bin bags (50 items + what ever notes were on my computer)
- to the recycling or trash folder
As I think often happens when you have lots of clutter getting one job done meant I had to do another one, which could have been a sticking point, but I'm really pleased I recognised that and just combined the 2 jobs to achieve some space.
I just de-cluttered down to a couple of subscribed threads cos I'm spending too much time hereso that's
4 threads gone :-)
Defrosted the freezer and sorted it out ready for a restock this week with my big Sainsbug delivery and my meat box.
1 lot of ice - gone
3 meals worth of odds & ends - to my tummy
3 Frozen bananas - Make into a cake tomorrow
My next task was clothes, some stuff that didn't suit me
12 items - to nieghbours (catflapped?) & CS
just wish I could get OH to de-richard his drawers, cos he's running out of space
Tackled under the bed - now a bit clearer as the Uni work has gone so can put some books under there and tidy the book shelves
3 bundles of coloured pencils - CS
15 books - CS
2 marquetry pics - CS
& under the stairs:eek: not looking forward to UtS - can't actually crawl in there - have to squeeze in sideways, so not a fun space as you have to actually unpack the boxes to remove them. Which did mean that I got an empty box and every time I came out with a handful of books I decided which ones I wanted - put them in the box and unwanteds went to the CS bag. Even got OH to sort thru' his books
49 books - CS
29 quilting mags - CS
3 DVD - CS
1 ring binder & plastic sleeves - CS
Small bundle of fabric & patchwork blocks - CS
3 iron on tom & jerry parches - CS
2 kitchen tools - CS
1 small torch - CS
1 toothbrush holder - CS
Also managed to apply for 1 internship & 1 job, so
2 applications - out
So 180 ish bits out. Really sorry for this rambling post, but needed to tell someone and it's nice to see it written down. Trying to get better organised, and definately getting these things out has given me a feeling of calm - at least in that tiny bit of our boat Under the stairs. In fact as I was sitting UtS when it was all empty I thought about using it as a 'me' space :rotfl:
Now we can empty stuff out of the spare room and put it there, meaning Oh can have his office back.
Plan also to catch up on some project work I have connected to my volunteering, but intersperse it with de-cluttering so none of it seems to much like a chore. This is not being helped by the fact that even though I'm not going in to volunteer for the next two weeks lots of sport on the TV keeps distracting me :-)
By sorting through my own stuff I've been able to really decide what is important, what makes me happy, what is beautiful or useful. I've not got the true hoarder gene as I don't really want to 'save' stuff or find a use for it like Mr Richard, well just a bit. But I am more than happy to pass it on to some one else to make use of - be it the recycling bin or the Charity shop or a mate.
All the threads on here have got me thinking. I 'm trying to be more frugal, track my spending, keep a tidy house. do something useful, read some books, enjoy life, not get overwhelmed.
If only I could get paid for dong de-cluts my life would be complete.
Thanks for listening (unless you've fallen asleep)

Calluna, you did really well. I hope you get good responses to those applications.
Yesterday I started on my 'table of doom' but not yet finished so I won't include that yet.
2 plastic storage bags to bin
7 books to recycling
3 books to cs
The cs books have started to include natural wastage. A friend recently asked me how many books I had on the go, and I don't know who was the more horrified - her at the number or me at her horror! So this month I'm aiming to work through the half-finished books and in most cases move them on.0 -
Right, thats my ebay stock finished. I've been left with a few bits and peices but i dont intend to list them again. Ive charity shopped whats left and happy about the space ive gained.
Last night i went through my pots and potions in the bathroom cabinet. Ive been buying bits and peices lately as i am suffering with problematic skin. The stuff that doesnt suit me has gone in the bin. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
hello all, have been tied up with the new arrival for the last 6 weeks so not much time to declutter!
I did however give 4 bags of baby clothes to my niece - they were for a girl, and i had a boy. didn't count the number of items but would estimate 80 or so.
I also went through dd's medicine and got rid of 5 out of date bottles, sent 2 books to charity and given 3 items of clothing away.
Won't even estimate how many new baby items we have !Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I've just taken 3 big bags of stuff to the charity shop, that was roughly 100 items. I've also got all my eBay stuff into one box. I'm going to have another wardrobe clearout and an ebay listing session later. Only problem is now that I can only post on Saturdays but will make it clear in the listings.0
