I am on a decluttering mission at the moment. I sorted out and tidied our laundry room which is small and got 4 (!?!?!?!) massive charity bags filled with old socks/clothes etc all ready for the tip. Also all of the drawers from an old freezer all ready for a tip trip. Also a big bag filled with old pillows and there will probably be another bag with old socks/pants of mine from my cupboard. I'm counting them as gone as they are hidden in the downstairs loo lol. Then all the old sheets and towels can go neatly in my wardrobe at the top and be organised.

I swear the stuff is breeding though!

Not done much over the last few days, but I'm still finding stuff we can live without.

    41. 2 printer inks - taken to Rymans for recycling
    42. 1 used Brita water filter cartridge - taken to Argos for recycling
    43. Used batteries taken to Rymans for recycling
    44. 2 of hubby's technical books given back to ex-colleague
    45. Used postage stamps to mum (she's collecting them for someone)
    46. Saucepan used for boiling eggs and now leaking - metal recycling
    47. 6 bags of aluminium cans taken to recyclers - £3 received

Planning a day in on Friday, not doing anything except 'pottering' (which in my case will be sorting out my fabric stash and clothes stash). If I get time I might venture into the loft and see what I can find up there.

Well done to everyone who is joining this challenge: it's an ongoing task, it didn't get cluttered overnight so it's going to take a while to declutter, but the end result will be so worth it!

Interesting to know, I wasn't aware that they did this. Do they just have a bucket/bin for them or do I hand them in?

Mine has a special bin for them, it's quite well hidden and I only found it by accident the first time. Maybe ask at your local store; if one store takes them, all the others should do too. Good luck!

Yup that sounds good to me :T

Not increased my total due to working (and some after-work laziness...)

    Tomorrow I will recommence!!

Having slowly decluttered my space and belongings in the house over the last few months [currently with mum and dad *sigh* rest of the house is a bomb site!] I did the last carboot on Sunday just gone. Only did a few quid but then again was only selling knick knacks for 20p or so. I came back with one tough bag for life full and automatically found myself putting it back in the (recently cleared) wardrobe:eek: Does anyone else do that? I have always done carboots ever since I was about 14 (good way of getting money at that age when you don't have a job. Of course trying to get mum up at 6am was always a bit of a challenge!) and have done them fairly regularly but I think i've finally got down (well currently) to pretty much zero clutter. Unless I was aiming for some serious clutter zen I don't have enough to do a carboot any time soon so why was I putting the damn bag back in the wardrobe. I got it all out, put it away again; thought yeah I'll do a carboot in august, put it back in the wardrobe, had a cup of tea. Thought - brain are you serious. Ran back up stairs and put it in a bin liner and put it in the boot of the car to go on friday. Stupid brain.
Just the bass recorder to put on e-bay tomorrow and jobs a good 'un.

I am still getting my decluttering fix though as my friend has moved into a bed sit after a couple of years of living with various relatives and now they've all gone 'hey you have a house, here's all your stuff' and dumped it on her. She's the same age as me (22) and never got rid of anything. EVER. And she is getting pretty overwhelmed bless her. She's not got a lot of furniture atm so quite a lot of it is all over the floor.Yesterday when I went over I ended up helping her sort the bits around the sofa. This routine happened quite a lot *pick up item* ' Oh this should probably get rid of this/ sell this/ file this' *put item back on the floor, move on to next item* before I just got a bin bag and waved it at her :rotfl:
More achieved in half an hour than the last week lol. I think alot of time storage of the stuff you want to get round to selling etc. can be quite depressing esp. if you have a lot of it but you see it all the time/have no where to put it. I have got a bit of space at mine so I told her every time we fill a box to sell I bring it back to mine so she can actually see space rather than just boxes even though they've been sorted. :T

Wow this appears to be an essay, sorry about that. I think it's cause I can't sleep and all the thoughts buzzing round my head have come out at once - so I hope it all makes sense!
Love reading this thread - gives me great ideas and keeps me motivated :D
Another good idea, just a last thought. What about promising yourself a treat when you get to a certain point of your de-cluttering journey? My wardrobe was the last bit to be sorted and when it got reduced by about 2/3 (I have a uniform for work why do I need all this other carp?) I decided that some of the proceeds from selling bits would be used to buy a well fitting, awesomely flattering, hot damn outfit. And of course applying the one in one out rule :p Could work with books as well - I will clear out x amount and then get that one i've been after for ages. Swapping lots of carp for something you will truly value/use.

Right actually going to bed, honest :)
