Quite a haul today: was given some bits by mum & dad to sell at the boot fair we didn't go to, so these will now be included in my chuck out total as they don't want them back. This month I'm going to update with the whole list instead of just what I've done that day, that way I won't lose count so easily! Previously counted ones are in red.
- 1 messenger bag - cs
- Printer scanner from mum returned as we didn't do boot fair
- 1 unopened tub pickling spices - to mum
- 1 teapot (left in a sack of tins for recycling, I was going to try to sell at boot fair) - cs
- 2 frying pans - metal recycling
- Souffle dish from mum for boot fair - charity shop
- 2 used up printer inks - going to Rymans for recycling
- Junk mail - in the recycling bin
- Load of plastic food containers that daughter brings baby's meals over in and keeps forgetting to take home!
- Some manky baked beans found in the back of the fridge - compost
- A ripped bath towel - going in rag bag for charity shop
- Some revolting Weetabix-type biscuits from 99p shop - birdtable
- One of hubby's shirts
- 1 fabric eye mask from airline pack - cs
- 1 cosmetic bag & mini toiletries from airline pack - homeless shelter
- 1 pair socks from airline pack - homeless shelter
- 1 tube new apricot body scrub - going to homeless shelter
- 1 Refine & Rewind liquid - homeless shelter
- 1 Virgin Vie eye treatment - homeless shelter
- 1 Christmas tree - charity shop
- 1 bag Christmas decorations - charity shop
- A baby sling that never got used - charity shop
- Yet another chipped mug: that's 3 out of the set of 4 now! - bin
- Gone through photo box and sorted out into piles for daughters, parents and chucking out.

Meanwhile this afternoon one more decluttered area and some filing. Maybe I can work on just a little more - I have a cs doorstep collection in the morning.
I also live in a really small flat, which is quite motivating to declutter. Also what has helped me is sorting through my books and putting them in alphabetical order.I was so 'unaware' of what I had, that I actually had three copies of the same book and two copies of another.:o Hopefully this year I'll get round to cataloguing my books.I also discovered,a while back, that I had two copies of the same film on dvd.Now my 900-plus dvd collection is catalogued.
Good luck with the purge but don't forget to take a break!
eta sorry for all the seperate replies, but I still haven't worked out how to multi-quote.0 -
Well I have had a productive day and the utility room looks loads better - still not perfect but good progress none the less.
So for me:
24 - old cordless phone that doesnt work (so why did we keep it?)
25 - an odd shaped china mug that no-one uses
26-35 nine odd gloves
36 and one solitary shin pad
I am sure this will get harder as time goes on. I need to be careful as my bin is filling up. We get our rubbish collected once a fortnight and recycling the second week but recycling is only tins/cans/paper and garden rubbish at the moment.0 -
